Excerpts from the Execs F E B U R A RY ISSUE I
Governor Stefan Ludlow, Secretary Virginia Byrd, Treasurer Elizabeth Ludlow, & Bulletin Editor Brittany Horton
Governor
I wanted to take a moment to write to each of you on the proper reporting of service hours. As I have issued the challenge for everyone to complete 15 hours and have it reported to Secretary Virginia before April 1 I felt that it would be a good topic to review. Anything that your club does together as a service project obviously counts as a service hours, but according to the CKI International Policy Code there are also other activities that a club can complete as service hours which are as follows: 1. Any fundraising where 100% of the money is to be donated to charity. (ELIMINATE for example) 2. The travel time to a project, so long as it is at least 30 minutes. (however not the return trip) 3. Any time planning service projects including preparing supplies and training attendees. Additionally please note that service hours should be reported as the total hours for all members and projects over the month. For example if you have a project that lasts 2 hours and 5 people attend, the club should report 10 service hours for that project. I hope that as I look over the club monthly reports for the rest of the year to see a renewed passion for service in the district! I can’t wait to see y’all at DCON. ~Stefan Ludlow
Secretary Deadline: February 22, 2013
It's that time of the month once again, Club Monthly Report (CMR) time. This is the last CMR required to apply for awards at District Convention. I have complied all of the CMR data since April. I will be sending each of the Club Secretaries along with the Club President an email with the status of your submissions after this month's CMR deadline, which is Tuesday, February 5th at 11:59 p.m. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at secretary@georgiacirclek.org ~Virginia Byrd
Treasurer By now most of you have heard about the Eliminate Project and about how the entire Kiwanis Family is trying to raise $110 million by 2015 to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Every nine minutes, somewhere in the world a baby dies from this completely preventable disease. All it takes to save that child is $1.80 which helps give the mother a series of three tetanus shots which passes on immunity from tetanus to the baby. At convention this year, the district board is trying to raise money to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus by auctioning off the district board members to be pied in the face. Please bring money and get the satisfaction of saving lives plus getting to pie your favorite board member. I hope to see you in a few weeks at District Convention!!! ~Elizabeth Ludlow
