Did you know that there are several CKI preferred charities and service partners you can join with? That’s right, we work with March of Dimes, Students Team Up to Fight Hunger, BetterWorld Books, and our October-time specialty...UNICEF! This Halloween season, collect donations instead of candy. Take part in Trickor-Treat for UNICEF. All proceeds raised by Kiwanis-family members from Trick-orTreat for UNICEF will go to The Eliminate Project to help eliminate a disease from the face of the Earth. You could raise funds door-to-door, host a “spooktacular” dance or haunted house … or come up with your own ideas! You can participate in five simple steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
Decide with your club what kind of fundraiser you’ll do. Order your collection boxes. Collect donations. Fill out the gift form and submit it with your club’s donations. Celebrate! You’re helping save moms and babies.

Secretary Now that school is back in session along with projects and meetings, please do not forget to involve your Kiwanis club. If possible attend their meetings and their projects. When you go to their meetings, you could take a club calendar to pass out so that your Kiwanis club knows when your projects are and how they can get involved. If that is not as effective as you would like, then you could plan a social with the Kiwanis club president and see if that gets the two clubs to meet each other. If you have any other questions about how to get involved with your Kiwanis club do not hesitate to contact any District Board member or District Administrator. Elizabeth Ludlow
SST is a 2-day event where Circle K'ers from all over Georgia come together to perform a large-scale service project, meet and greet other Circle K'ers from all of our colleges, and have fun doing icebreakers and team-building exercises. It's sort of like a lock-in, where we spend Friday night doing small service project and playing games, icebreakers, and team-building exercises. Saturday morning we start our large-scale service project by fixing up a playground! It's also the perfect opportunity for new club members to learn more about Circle K - what we do, why we do it, and how much fun we have in the process! Virginia Byrd
Fall semester is here, and it’s time to recruit new members! A huge part of recruitment is getting information out about who we are as an organization. To make people familiar with what Circle K is (and not just the gas station) we need to pique their interest and help them realize that Circle K is awesome! Here are techniques to promote Circle K on your campuses: 1. Word of mouth: Never underestimate good old face-to-face verbal communication. This one seems obvious, but it can be easily overlooked. Be sure to: Talk one on one with potential and new members Multiply your efforts by having members invite their friends Get the word out to other groups on campus 2. Print media: Provide something tangible that people can take home with them when presenting information about your club. To make flyers, brochures and posters effective: Keep text short, simple and legible Use appropriate, readable fonts and use large headlines to grab attention Make your advertisements “pop!” Location, location, location - post flyers in strategic, high-traffic areas Get recruits on-board with a tri-board at your student org fair! 3. Online media: Everyone’s online, so promote Circle K membership there too. Create a Website, Facebook group/page, Twitter, and post Photos! No matter how you spread the word about Circle K, remember the basics: 1. Keep it simple. 2. Keep your audience in mind. 3. Be enthusiastic! Good luck recruiting! Shannon Weaver
Victoria has shown a lot of efforts over this past month preparing our K-Family map, K-Family directory, promoting SST, holding recruitment drives, scheduling club meetings, promoting the Eliminate Project, and always asking what else she can do. She even accompanied me, along with Amanda and Christine, to Kiwanis DCON this past month. I don’t know what I would do without her. I’m so proud of all that she is doing in chartering her home club and helping the district, and I couldn’t ask for a better board member. Thank you so much Torry for all that you do!
