ICON 2011 Wow! What a time at the beach! The Georgia District had an amazing time in beautiful Virginia Beach, VA. The sun was shining, the water was warm and the CKI spirit and excitement was in full swing. The Georgia district was represented well with a total of 7 members and our district admin Brent Leslie. Although we did not have the biggest numbers at convention compared to the districts of Cal-Nev-Ha or Southwest, we were just as loud! We proved it when our Subregion was awarded the Spirit Stick by CKI Director Chris Martz. GUNIT! The Great and Powerful Georgia District Returned to the Awards podium where we took home 5 total awards including Distinguished Governor (Ashleey Davis), Distinguished LTG (Elizabeth Ludlow), Distinguished Committee Chair (Kevin Barnes), Distinguished District, and 1st Place in Club Achievement Silver Division (Georgia Tech). Congrats to all of the award winners! These individuals were recognized for their commitment to you! You should be very proud to be apart of an Award Winning District! Who knows? Maybe you will be up there on the awards podium next year in New Orleans! A full recap of ICON will be published in the Summer Edition of the Kronicle, so keep a look out!

Keep a look out for the full recap in the upcoming edition of the Kronicle!!!

Playground Project District Service Chair, Stefan Ludlow: 10 years ago in 2001, the Georgia District of CKI developed a new district service project, which we know today as Playground Project. This project was developed under HEALTHY (Health always leads to Happier Youth) initiative to help children get out and exercise through playground equipment that is safe and placed in good environments. There are two components to playground Project. The first is to raise funds to help build playgrounds and the other is doing our part to clean, fix, paint, equip and otherwise helping existing playgrounds to remain a fun and safe environment for children of all ages. The first and most recent playground funded by the Georgia District of CKI was completed at Hillside Psychiatric Hospital in Atlanta. It is my hope that this year we can step back up to the plate and do our part to once again help out youth have better playgrounds. We can all do our part!

If you have any questions about any of our district projects you can check all of them out online on our website or contact Blue Ridge LTG and District Service Chair Stefan Ludlow for more information! You can find his information on the district website!!
