Awards Tip

As we are reaching the midpoint in the Fall Semester, all of us are knee deep in school work and, naturally, service. A good thing to be doing right now to prepare for awards is to read over the packet (on our website!) to make sure that you are centering your activities around awards that you might want to win. Maybe you have a fundraiser coming up that you can tweak to fit a specific criterion for awards! Keeping this in mind is handy when you are looking to get some recognition for all the hard work you do! Shelby Munyan Georgia District Awards Chair

Icebreaker Tip Icebreakers are meant to bring your group closer together. A favorite for the district board, that almost everyone has played at some point, is called the Human Knot.

GEORGIA CIRCLE K-ERS REPRESENTING AT THE KEY CLUB GEORGIA LEADERSHIP TRAINING CONFERENCE

To play the Human Knot, you get an even number of people (it does NOT work with an odd number, we tried and things got weird). Gather everyone in a circle and have them grab one (1) hand of the person directly across from them. Next have them grab someone else’s hand. Make sure they are not directly next to each other or you won’t be able to untangle properly. Then, the group must work to untangle the knot of hands without releasing anyone’s hand*. The goal is to have everyone untangled and in one large circle, holding hands with one another.

Try it at your next meeting or with a random group of friends. You would be surprised how close you get to the other players, figuratively and literally…things can get kind of personal while playing. *Please make sure that you readjust hands as needed...we don’t need anyone hurting themselves during an icebreaker. Did You Know?

Did you know the districts of Circle K International are divided into 7 "Subregions?" Starting in the furthest northwest corner of the North American continent with Subregion A and working through to us in the southeast in Subregion G! The districts within a subregion are known as sister districts and are represented on the international level by a Subregion Trustee elected annually at the CKIx House of Delegates! Our Sub G sister districts are the Alabama, Carolinas, Caribbean, and Florida districts. Representing 9 countries, Subregion G truly makes Circle K an International organization! Service Tip With half the semester over and finals getting closer a good service project is to make and pass out stress balls because they will be needed. To make stress balls you can use flour, balloons, and funnels. Once you have these you can start by stretching the balloon some. Using your funnel fill the balloon with flour. Stop putting flour in the balloon when it reaches the neck. Tie the neck into a knot to stop the flour from getting out of the balloon. Enjoy your stress ball. Fundraising Tip

There are so many things your club could do to fundraise. Knowing your audience is key. Find something that you know people would want to buy or something to auction off. Tabling at your school is one of the best ways to raise funds for something. Some ideas could be having a bake sale or auctioning off a big item like a TV or tickets to a sporting event. Getting whatever you’re selling to be donated is also something that is helpful that way you don’t have to buy it in the first place. Erin Martin Georgia District Service Social Tour (SST) Chair

GEORGIA DISTRICT CIRCLE K MEMBERS RECRUITING AT KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

Recruitment Tip An important part of the club is fellowship. While you are planning your club socials, you should make a couple of fliers, and post them around your campus so new members can join the socials. You could also tell every member to bring a friend to the social. Going to a social is a great way to recruit new members. Kylie Wilson Georgia District Secretary and Treasurer and MDE Chair

K-Nections Tip As you all know, the Kiwanis Family is so much more than just Circle K. As our parent organization, it is very important to keep up your relationship with your sponsoring Kiwanis Club. This club will be your main connection to the rest of the Kiwanis family and your biggest fan and cheerleader throughout the year. They will provide you with funds for district events, community service projects to get involved in, and can also help you and your members get more connections with the people in your community. Here are some ways that you can bolster your own relationships with your sponsoring Kiwanis Clubs: 1.

2.

3.

Attend their meetings! Kiwanians genuinely love it when you come to their meetings. Not only does it make them happy and more inclined to help your club, but they will also usually feed you! Invite them to your club meetings! This simple act lets your Kiwanians know that you would like them to be a part of the organization that they have helped sponsor. Inviting them to your meetings (even if they don’t come) will help them feel more valued and lead them to interact with you more. Volunteer with them! Serving with your Kiwanis Club is one of the best ways to get to know those members better. Helping with their service projects is a way to repay them for all that they have helped you out with in the past.

You should also ask them how to get involved in the other branches of the Kiwanis Family. Whether it is volunteering with your local Key Clubbers or attending a Builders Club meeting, these actions go a long way! Emmie Landford Georgia District Perimeter Lieutenant Governor
