PETER PILOTTO AUTUMN WINTER 2012 COLLECTION The latest collection from Peter Pilotto showcased an in depth and bold approach to futurism, from the modern structured cut designs, eye-catching 3D prints and pleasurably districting colours . The clothing showcased a remarkable precision and sympathy to the feminine form: from the cut out bodies, lifting and accentuating the model’s figures, the mesh panel detailing exposing subtly shoulders and backs, fit and flared skirts flourishing a playful, girlish approach, finished off with elongated high necklines. The collection showcased a multitude of desirable and enticing fabrics, clinging to models whilst they sauntered down the Pilotto catwalk. Rich layered velvet contrasted with light, airy chiffon and luxurious jersey, finalised with the designers first experimentation into embellishment. Designs were completed with a frosting of sequins, beads and rich texture, providing new prospects to the brand’s ever expanding offering.

THE COLLECTION
BEHIND THE SCENES
Hair was puled back from the face, finished off with a sleek ballerina bun placed above the bone of the centre of the back of the head giving an element of toughness. The hair embodies a modern edginess which is not extravagant.
The make-up was simple, a bare faced look was displayed with a hint of glow so there were no distractions from the eyebending prints and fabrics.
HAIR AND MAKE-UP THE FASHION SHOW
The super simple and paired down look complemented both the ladylike styles of the dresses but also the bomber style pieces of the collection.
Located in Topshop's Billingsgate Market, a grey palleted catwalk was the contrasting showspace for the Autumn Winter 2012 Peter Pilotto collection. LED stacked boxes located either side of the catwalk entrance, transmitted bright light shows that were reminiscent of the digitally printed garments. Fast, electronic music became the models anthems as they strutted in time to the energetic beats. Back stage Peter Pilotto Pr girls scurried around, adorned in the latest Pilotto designs, proving pieces can look as good off the catwalk as on.

THE CRAZE
Name: Emily Sneyd Age: 20 Role at Peter Pilotto: Intern
HOW DID YOU FIRST BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE PETER PILOTTO BRAND? I initially got in contact with the studio manager at Peter Pilotto to enquire as to whether there were any available internships. I was invited for an interview the following week, and started the week after. It was all very fast paced! WHAT IS YOUR FASHION BACKGROUND? I'm currently studying Fashion Marketing at the University of Northumbria. Its a four year course with an industry placement year. During university time, I work for Urban Outfitters as a sales assistant on both womenswear and menswear. I have also been given the opportunity to work alongside the Urban Outfitters european visual merchandising team, during the preparation stage of the opening of the Newcastle store. WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE INTERNSHIP JOB AT PETER PILOTTO? As this was my first internship, I wanted to start in a London based design house. I'd been a fan of their past season designs, but when I saw their S/S'12 collection I knew that was where I wanted to be. WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT PETER PILOTTO? My position at Peter Pilotto varies quite a bit. At the moment I am working with the design team focusing on trend inspiration for the pre S/S'13 collection. I've also worked in the P.R department arranging Peter and Christopher's schedule( ,always interesting). Aswell as pattern cutting and organising some of the companies finances. Overall, a variety of roles that have all given me a great insight into the running of a design label.
THE INTERN
THE INTERN WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING WITH THE DESIGN DUO? Working with Peter and Christopher at first was petrifying. I was too scared to breathe. On my second day, they took me into their office and introduced themselves properly, asked me about myself and gave me some pretty unforgettable advice. Its a pleasure to witness them at work, and see (and sometimes hear) how they think. I find myself being inspired by not only my surroundings but also by their presence. WHAT IS YOUR FASHION STYLE? I'd say my style is constantly changing. I tend to go for more un-tailored, slightly relaxed pieces, and concentrate on my accessories. Since working at Peter Pilotto, I've found myself buying more statement pieces and keeping things simple. WHAT DOES THE BRAND'S STYLE MEAN TO YOU? In my opinion, Peter Pilotto create pieces that can be worn time and time again. Although currently on trend, I think that each piece could be worn in years to come, giving the same sophistication and uniqueness that Peter Pilotto as a brand so successfully emulates. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MAIN HIGHLIGHT WHILST WORKING AT PETER PILOTTO? At present, the highlight of the internship, without a doubt has to be having the opportunity to work alongside Peter and Christopher and being asked for my opinion. This was a huge deal for me, showing that there was a level of trust that I'd thought wouldn't be achievable with such highly established individuals. IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE THE BRANDS SIGNATURE STYLE IN THREE WOULD WHAT WOULD THEY BE? Thats tough, I’d have to go for exciting, unique and feminine. FINALLY, IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY PIECE FROM THE PAST AND PRESENT PETER PILOTTO COLLECTIONS, WHAT WOULD IT BE? I’d most definitely have to say the black and white beamed peplum top from the S/S’12 collection. (Perfect with leather trousers and black heels).
