ABOUT “The collection is loosely inspired by café racer culture, riffling off of motorcycle style. The character is on a journey, collecting things.” - Phillip Lim A crowd of motorcycle-clad bikers tore their way through the catwalk in the form of 3.1 Philip Lim’s Autumn Winter 2013 collection. Taking a direct influence from all that surrounds the biker culture, in particular biker’s girlfriends. Garments transcended biker connotations with elements of leather and patch-covered denim. The footwear from the collection consisted of tough, leather shoe boots, with buckle and cut out detailing. Leather over-the-knee panelling resembling shin-guards overwhelmed models legs spectacularly. This collection displayed a different take on the traditional winter shoe boot, intensifying the simple boot and transforming them, adding sandal strap elements, creating contrasting structures.
