Room Reservations The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island 4750 Amelia Island Pkwy Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Hotel room rates: $304/night Once you have registered for the conference, please click here to make your room reservations for Tuesday, June 25 - Friday, June 28. If you wish to extend your stay beyond the dates above, please call the hotel at 866-763-2960 and ask for the group rate for the Georgia Hospital Association when reserving your room. Due to heavy summer activity, we recommend that you book your room as soon as possible. The reservation deadline is June 5. After this date, rooms will be sold on a space- and rate-available basis. Business/Resort casual attire is appropriate for the entire meeting, including all evening functions. It is recommended that you dress in layers as meeting room temperatures may vary.

Learning Objectives Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to: Discuss how to improve both quality and patient experience using the same scientific principles. Identify the reasons why culture change fails to sustain in most circumstances. Improve the likelihood of engaging team members in evidence-based practices. Understand the factors associated with current economic trends in health system performance. Describe critical factors for succeeding in the post-disruption health care environment. Discuss the realities of value-based purchasing models. Show how Amazon, Google, CVS, Walmart, and Apple plan to impact hospitals and health care by leveraging their existing frameworks. Illustrate the disruptive impact technology is having on hospitals, particularly the shift from hospitals as health care delivery systems to hospitals as data institutions. Promote an understanding of a timeline of these events and how they will work in tandem to alter health care delivery. Examine the steps to living beyond your finish line.

Program Descriptions Thursday, June 27 8:30–9:30 a.m. Breakfast Session The Perfect Patient Experience: Bringing High Reliability to the Bedside Craig Deao Craig Deao is a sought-after national expert and speaker on health care topics related to leadership, accountability, patient experience, quality and safety. He has been a member of the senior executive team for Studer Group since 2006. The defect-free patient experience: What would that be like? The science exists to make this a reality, not just sometimes, but always. This session will review the evidence correlating positive patient experiences with quality and safety. Attendees will learn three evidence-based practices and will be inspired to set targets and hold themselves and their colleagues accountable.

GHA will honor a past CEO who is a true advocate for Georgia citizens’ well-being; an outstanding individual who has effected positive change for hospitals; and a powerful hospital community program. The W. Daniel Barker Leadership Award, Distinguished Service Award and Community Leadership Award will be presented.


Program Descriptions 10:30–11:30 a.m. Educational Session Positioning Your Organization to be a Winner in the Post-Disruption Health Care World Nate Kaufman Nate Kaufman is managing director for Kaufman Strategic Advisors with almost 40 years of experience as a strategist, executive, and negotiator. Kaufman is considered one of the nation’s health care industry experts. He is a strategic advisor to many health care groups and is known for his practical advice focusing on succeeding in the new post-ACA, MACRA, value-based risk environment. This session will highlight strategies to adapt to the new realities in health care.

11:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m. Educational Session The Disruptors: How Amazon, Google & Apple Plan to Change the Face of Health Care Ron Galloway Ron Galloway is a researcher, film director, and author who researches business topics related to disruptive technologies and their impact on the future. Health care is going through a massive disruptive phase right now, with most of the changes being brought about by (1) new technologies and (2) new entrants, competitive and non-competitive. This session will illustrate the scope of these changes and the impacts and unintended consequences that may occur.

Program Descriptions Friday, June 28 8:00-9:00 a.m. The John S. Bowling Prayer Breakfast Praise and Worship Music John Glosson Join us at our annual John S. Bowling Prayer Breakfast, where you will be entertained with music from contemporary Christian artist John Glosson. After making it to Hollywood on American Idol, John Glosson was chosen to be a contestant on ABC’s Duets. There, he was paired with the amazing and talented Jennifer Nettles and ultimately finished as the runner-up.

9:15-10:15 a.m. Closing Keynote An Unthinkable Journey Scott Rigsby After losing both of his legs in an accident at age 18, Scott Rigsby battled his way back from depression and addiction to achieve the unthinkable by becoming the first double-leg amputee on prosthetics to ever cross the finish line at the Ironman World Championship. Rigsby penned the autobiography “Unthinkable” to share his remarkable journey that took him from a catastrophic accident and traumatic brain injury to a battle with depression and addiction, to the realization that God had a greater plan for his life. Please attend this inspirational session to hear Scott’s journey of hope, healing, and restoration.
