Avenir Art Auction In aid of Jerwood Charitable Foundation Wednesday 2nd September Viewing 12 - 6pm Live Auction 6- 8pm The Groucho Club 45 Dean Street London W1D 4QB

Welcome to the inaugural Avenir Art Auction, a charity auction for young and emerging artists in aid of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation. What started as a small idea brewing in my mind during long nights and early mornings, has become a reality thanks to the support of The Groucho Club, Sotheby’s, Daniel Ford International and the committee members; Marine Tanguy, Kate Bryan, Greta Bellamacina, Julia Royse and Niru Ritman. Artists in the early stage of their career need a solid platform and extra support to develop their skills, exposure and of course they need to sell. It is our sole aim at Avenir Magazine to provide a stepping stone for these artists, and each success story is gradually becoming the norm. Co-curated by Marine Tanguy, we have put forward some of the best young emerging artists today. To establish the auction as an environment for cross-disciplinary discussion, each artist has explored a different medium, with a distinct and in many ways personal narrative. Furthermore, all these artists are under 30 years old and they all hail from contrasting cultural backgrounds.

Wish to bid on the unsold works? Please send an email to auction@avenirmagazine.com requesting more information.

The funds raised will go towards the development of a specific arts project that will advise, educate and support emerging artists at Jerwood Charitable Foundation. A huge thank you to the lovely Georgina Gold our auctioneer, and Sotheby’s for their wonderful support. We are extremely lucky and grateful to have the expertise of Georgina who has taken time out of her busy schedule to support this auction. A special thank you to Duggie Fields for the donation of his work and support for emerging artists. The Avenir Art Auction would not be the same without the participating artists, our partners and the lovely collectors seasoned and new, young and old. I would like to thank our sponsors Daniel Ford International, London’s prestigious property search and acquisitions agents who will be sponsoring the Avenir Art Auction for the next two years.

Supporting emerging artists is one of the most rewarding and enlightening experiences as a gallerist. I believe that we are all children of our time, and so, by helping the next generation as well as our generation, we can contribute – even if it is only on a small scale – to the history of art. Contemporary artists are necessary to society. They question our society conceptually as much as they challenge it visually. By helping to structure the careers of the artists of tomorrow, we can serve talent over the growing commercialisation of the art world. The Avenir Art Auction highlights this purpose in its ability to gather an impressive crowd of devotees, including some of the leading influencers in the art industry. I am extremely honoured to have assisted with the curation of this auction, and am looking forward to a whole series of them in the future.
