Mountain Laurel Festival
On May 15th from 10:00am – 4:00pm Clarkesville, Georgia will be the site of the 59th Annual Mountain Laurel Festival. The Mountain Laurel Festival is a community event held the 3rd Saturday of May each year. Everyone is excited for the return of the Festival this spring after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic. This year, the Festival will see entertainment spread throughout the area with the addition of new demonstrations and exhibits along with all the wonderful vendors who attend each year. Plans are already underway to make the 60th anniversary, to be celebrated in 2022, reminiscent of the early years. Past festival visitors and participants with special memories are encouraged to contact the committee. The Committee hopes to introduce new vendors and exhibits into the Festival, all the while maintaining what has made it a success for many years. Returning favorites will be the Food Court area, local entertainment, Lions Club Parade, Deck-ADuck contest, the Soque River Watershed Association Fund Raiser Bass Kissing Contest and vendors offering a wide variety of local and handcrafted wares. The community is encouraged to participate in all aspects of the Festival and can learn more about the opportunities by contacting Trudy Crunkleton at tcrunkleton@clarkesvillega. com.
