MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND DR. MARY LAND, CONDUCTOR TODD WILSON, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR WENDY WILSON, ORGANIZER
Mary Land is Director of Bands at Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia. Mary received the Educational Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Georgia in 2015. Dr. Land, a native of North Augusta, South Carolina, received her Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Georgia and her Masters of Music Education degree from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. She has served the Georgia Music Educators Association in various state and local offices. Dr. Land is currently the immediate past president of the Georgia Music Educators Association and the CNAfME state chair. She continues to make numerous appearances as adjudicator, conductor, and clinician throughout the United States. Her professional affiliations include: GMEA, NAfME, IAJE, CBDNA, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Professional Teacher Association. Dr. Land serves on the Board of Directors for the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and is a member of the Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity. Dr. Land is a member of the National Band Association and has served as a national representative on the NBA executive board of directors. Mary Land is also on the faculty of the prestigious Interlochen Arts Camp as the conductor of the Intermediate Division Wind Symphony. Many professional awards and recognitions have been awarded Dr. Land during her career. She has been featured in many issues of the Instrumentalist magazine discussing her teaching techniques and her band program at Pickens County Middle School and her band program at Young Harris College. She has been presented the National Band Association Citation of Excellence on tweleve separate occasions and has been presented the Women Band Directors International Scroll of Excellence five times. Dr. Land was awarded the GMEA Music Educator of the Year Award for 2002. Dr. Land was presented with the John Philip Sousa Foundation Legion of Honor Award at the 2002 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic for her contributions to music education. Mary Land was selected by the national publication School Band and Orchestra in their December 2003 issue as one of “50 Directors Who make a Difference”. Mary Land’s band program was the recipient of the Georgia Senate Resolution 212 commending the success of the Pickens County Middle School Band Program. Mary Land and the Pickens County Middle School Band were the 2003 recipient of the Magna Cum Laude Award, a prestigious International Award for Middle School Bands. Dr. Land is published in the journals for the National Band Association, the Instrumentalist, Teaching Music (NAfME), School Band and Orchestra Magazine, and the GIA series Teaching Music Through Performance in Band. Commissioning projects include works by Sam Hazo, Bill Locklear, and Barry Kopetz. Bands under Mary Land’s direction have received invitations to perform at many music conferences and clinics on multiple years, including the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference, the Southern Division MENC Convention, the CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference, the University of Southern Mississippi Conductors’ Conference, and the University of Georgia Band Festival.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND ROBERT SHELDON, CONDUCTOR MATT TINNELL, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR LANAE DICKSTEIN, ORGANIZER
Robert Sheldon has taught instrumental music in the Florida and Illinois public schools, and has served on the faculty at Florida State University where he taught conducting and instrumental music education classes, and directed the university bands. As Director of Concert Band Publications for Alfred Music, he maintains an active composition and conducting schedule, and regularly accepts commissions for new works. Sheldon received the Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Miami and the Master of Fine Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Florida. An internationally recognized clinician, Sheldon has conducted numerous Regional and All-State Honor Bands throughout the United States and abroad. His teaching career included 28 years in the Florida and Illinois public schools as well as at the University of Florida, Florida State University, Illinois Central College and Bradley University. He also held positions as conductor of the Alachua County Youth Orchestra in Gainesville, Florida and the Prairie Wind Ensemble in East Peoria, Illinois. He maintains membership in several organizations that promote music and music education. He is lead author for the SOUND INNOVATIONS FOR BAND method books, and is a co-author for the MEASURES OF SUCCESS Volume 1 method book and the SOUND INNOVATIONS FOR STRINGS method books. The American School Band Directors Association has honored him with the Volkwein Award for composition and the Stanbury Award for teaching, and the International Assembly of Phi Beta Mu honored him with the International Outstanding Bandmaster Award. He has also been a twenty-eight-time recipient of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher’s Standard Award for his compositions in the concert band and orchestral repertoire. His compositions have been recorded and released on compact discs including, Images: The Music of Robert Sheldon, and Infinite Horizons: The Music of Robert Sheldon, as well as numerous other recordings. Mr. Sheldon has been the topic of articles published in The Instrumentalist, Teaching Music and School Band and Orchestra Magazine, and is one of eleven American wind band composers featured in Volume I of Composers on Composing Music for Band.

CONCERT BAND
SHELBY CHIPMAN, PH.D, CONDUCTOR JOSH ROBERTS, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR DR. ANDREW POOR, ORGANIZER Dr. Shelby R. Chipman is Associate Professor and Director of Marching and Pep Bands at Florida A&M University. His responsibilities in the Department of Music include teaching Instrumental Music, Conducting, and coordinating Recitals and Music Interns. Additionally, he assists with administration of the Marching, Symphonic, and Pep bands. He is a native of Miami, Florida where he graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High. He received Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Music Education from Florida A&M University, where he was conducting student of Dr. William P. Foster and Dr. Julian E. White. Professor Chipman completed his Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois, where he studied conducting with Prof. James Keene and received his Ph.D. degree from The Florida State University School of Music in Music Education, where studied with Dr. Bentley Shellahamer. Prior to his appointment at Florida A&M University, he taught band in the Miami-Dade County Public School system for ten years. His band program at Miami Central developed into one of the finest band programs in the country. As much as a teacher as he was a musician, Dr. Chipman was named Teacher of the Year during the 1993-94 school year. Under his leadership the Rocket Marching band performed in the 1993, 1995, and 1997 King Orange Jamboree Parades, 1993 Heritage Festival (New Orleans, LA), 1990-96 Florida A&M University Homecoming Festivals (Tallahassee, FL), 1992-97 MLK Parades & Festival (St. Petersburg, FL), 1997 Macy’s Day Parade (New York City), and numerous other marching events. The Symphonic band performed at the prestigious Bands of America National Concert Festival in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Chipman is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA), College Band Directors National Conference (CBDNA), FMEA Black Caucus, and Bethel AME Church. He has coordinated numerous band festivals and had the pleasure of working with James Croft, Timothy Reynish, James Suddith, Jim Sparks, Gary Green, Anthony Maiello, and Eugene Corporon, who represent some of the finest conductors in the world. In addition to working with these outstanding conducting, Dr. Chipman has presented music education and conducting clinics on several public school and college campuses, as well as given lectures at the FMEA conference and Mid-West Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL. He is an active adjudicator and clinician throughout the Southeastern United States and currently serves as Conductor of the Tallahassee Big Bend Community Orchestra. Dr. Chipman is married to Detrick LaShawn, and together they have one son, Israel Armenian Chipman. As an educator, Dr. Chipman believes that all students can learn. He believes there are obstacles that create barriers, but through faith, guidance, and love anything can be accomplished. As educators, it is our responsibility to encourage students to maintain their focus. There is good in all and we are challenged to bring out the best in students.

CONCERT BAND
ROY C. HOLDER, CONDUCTOR MARCUS RAYNER, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR DR. MYRA RHODEN, ORGANIZER Roy Holder received both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Music Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He spent 42 years as a high school band director working in the public schools of Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. Mr. Holder is a member of the East Tennessee Secondary Schools Band and Orchestra Director’s Association, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association, the founding President of the Virginia chapter of Phi Beta Mu, The American Bandmasters Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the School Bands Task Force, the National Band Association, where he currently serves as Immediate Past President, and also serves a Vice President and Co-Chair of the Sudler Flag of honor Committee for the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Mr. Holder has been recognized with professional honors by the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Association, Phi Mu Alpha, Fairfax County Public Schools, Wolf Trap, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, the National Band Association, the Sousa Foundation, the US Army Band, the National Symphony, and the accomplishments of the Lake Braddock Band program have twice been read into the US Congressional Record. Mr. Holder is a member of the Virginia Honor Band Hall of Fame, the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Directors Hall of Fame and thee Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Hall of fame. Ensembles conducted by Mr. Holder have consistently received Superior ratings in Concert, Marching, and Jazz Ensemble events at both the state and national levels. In June of 2011 the Lake Braddock Secondary School Band was awarded the 30 year Honor Band Plaque by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association for earning superior ratings at both the state Concert Festival and the State Marching Band Festivals for 30 consecutive years. Additionally, ensembles under Mr. Holder’s direction have performed at the John F. Kennedy Center, the Federal Reserve, the Pentagon, 4 times at the Virginia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference, 3 times for the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, for the American Bandmasters Association Convention and recently completed a concert tour of China under the sponsorship of the US-China Cultural and Educational Foundation. Mr. Holder continues to keep a busy schedule of adjudication and guest conducting events and remains an active advocate or bands and band music.

SYMPHONIC BAND PETER LOEL BOONSHAFT, CONDUCTOR RUDY GILBERT, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR TRACY WRIGHT, ORGANIZER
Called one of the most exciting and exhilarating voices in music education today, Peter Loel Boonshaft has been invited to speak or conduct in every state in the nation and around the world. Honored by the National Association for Music Education and Music For All as the first recipient of the “George M. Parks Award for Leadership in Music Education,” Dr. Boonshaft has recently been named Director of Education for Jupiter Band Instruments. Dr. Boonshaft is the author of the critically acclaimed best-selling books Teaching Music with Passion, Teaching Music with Purpose, and Teaching Music with Promise, as well as his first book for teachers of other disciplines, Teaching with Passion, Purpose and Promise. He is also co-author of Alfred Music Publishing’s new beginning method book series, Sound Innovations for Band and Sound Innovations for Strings, as well as Sound Innovations: Ensemble Development for Intermediate Concert Band and Sound Innovations: Ensemble Development for Advanced Concert Band. Currently on the faculty of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where he is Professor of Music and Director of Bands, he has received official proclamations from the Governors of five states and a Certificate of Appreciation from former President Ronald Reagan, as well as performing for former President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton, and for Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He has been awarded membership in Pi Kappa Lambda and Alpha Chi, as well as twice receiving the University of Hartford Regent’s Award and that University’s Outstanding Music Educator Award. His honors also include being selected three times as a National Endowment for the Arts “Artist in Residence,” three times awarded Honorary Life Membership in the Tri-M Music Honor Society, receiving the Al G. Wright Award from the WBDI, and being selected for the Center for Scholarly Research and Academic Excellence at Hofstra University. Extremely active as a guest conductor, clinician and speaker for conferences, festivals, concerts and workshops nationally and internationally, he has guest conducted the NAfME (The National Association for Music Education) National High School Honors Band, NAfME All-Eastern Band, NAfME All-Northwest Band, NAfME All-Eastern Directors Band, Goldman Memorial Band, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band, U.S. Marine Band New Orleans, Western International Band Clinic, Prague Castle Guard/Czech Police Symphonic Band, U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools: Europe Honors Music Fest Band, and the Association of Concert Bands National Conference Band. In addition, he has been an adjudicator and clinician for the Music For All/Bands of America National Concert Band Festival. He has served as a speaker for the Canadian Music Educators Association National Convention, NAfME National Conference, American Band College, Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic, Music For All/Bands and Orchestras of America Symposium, Samuel Barber Institute for Music Educators, Music Education Center of America, East Asia Regional Council of Schools in China, Singapore Ministry of Education Band Conference, KIPP National School Summit, NESA Council of Overseas Schools Conferences in Thailand and The Philippines, and as keynote speaker for the NAfME Northwest Division Conference, NAfME Southern Division Conference, European Music Educators Convention, National Convention of the American String Teachers Association, National Convention of the American School Band Directors Association, ACDA Western Division Conference, Maryborough Music Conference of Australia, National Conference of the Organization of American Kodály Educators, and numerous international, national, state and regional music education conferences.

SYMPHONIC BAND DENNIS ZEISLER, CONDUCTOR COREY FAIR, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR RICK LAND, ORGANIZER
Dennis J. Zeisler has been on the faculty of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia for almost four decades, serving as Director of Bands, Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone, and Chairman of the Music Department. Under his direction, the Old Dominion University Wind Ensemble has developed into a premiere-performing ensemble. They have recorded for TRN Music Publishers and Frank Erickson Publications and have been featured in concerts at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. While serving as former Chair for fifteen years, he led the steady growth of the Old Dominion University Music Department at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professor Zeisler has a B.M., B.M.E., and M.M. from the University of Michigan, where he was solo clarinetist of the Symphony Band, under the direction of Dr. William D. Revelli. He was solo clarinetist of the Detroit Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Leonard Smith, and clarinet soloist with the United States Military Academy Band at West Point. Mr. Zeisler had his New York debut in Carnegie Recital Hall in May 1974 and has performed at three International Clarinet Society Conferences. For 31 years, he was on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan where he was principal clarinet of the faculty orchestra, conductor of faculty and staff ensembles, and on the international conducting staff. In 1998, Professor Zeisler was awarded membership in the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. In 1999, he received the Orpheus Award from Phi Mu Alpha for, “significant and lasting contributions to the cause of Music in America,� and the Virginia Music Educator of the Year Award from the Virginia Music Educators Association. In 2004 he received the National Band Association Mentor Award, and in 2009 was awarded a University Professorship at Old Dominion University for excellence in teaching. He is founder and conductor of the Virginia Wind Symphony, a professional wind group comprised of primarily music educators from throughout the area of southeastern Virginia. The Virginia Wind Symphony has recorded six commercial compact discs and been featured in concert at two American Bandmasters Association Conventions (2004, 2011) and three Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinics (2004, 2012, 2017). Zeisler is Past-President of the Southern Division of CBDNA, former Virginia State Chair of the National Band Association and the International Clarinet Society. He is Past-President of NASM Region VII and is currently chair of the NBA Merrill-Jones Composition Contest, and on the Board of Directors of the John Phillip Sousa Foundation and the Midwest Clinic. Zeisler is the 77th President of the American Bandmasters Association. He and his wife Carol live in Norfolk, Virginia and have four grown children, Nathaniel, Jennifer, Sarah and Jeffrey.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ORCHESTRA TERRY SHADE, CONDUCTOR BO NA, ORGANIZER
Terry Shade is a nationally recognized Middle School Orchestra Specialist whose past orchestra programs have been selected to perform at the Southern Division Music Educator’s National Conference, the 50th Anniversary Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic in 1996, and the Atlanta International Band and Orchestra Conference in that same year. Following these performances, she was featured in the Instrumentalist Magazine discussing effective teaching methods and practices. After teaching for ten years in Atlanta, Georgia, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to continue her career in the Clark County School District. She was a director of the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra for six years from 1997-2003. Ms. Shade worked as a Project Facilitator with the district, mentoring a huge staff of orchestra teachers and performing supervisory duties for the Secondary Fine Arts Department and the Curriculum and Professional Development department in the school district for six years during which the string program experienced huge growth. Terry received a state music award for her work with the Clark County Orchestra Programs. The Steve Maytan Contribution to Education Award was presented to Ms. Shade at the NMEA conference in 2004. In the past several years, Ms. Shade was invited to conduct three All State Orchestras, in North Carolina, Georgia and most recently in 2007, Florida. The new ASTA Publication String Teaching in America: Strategies for a Diverse Society includes a chapter written by Terry about her experiences teaching in Las Vegas and working with many at- risk orchestra students in the district. She received her Music Education Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, studying string pedagogy with Professor Dean Angeles. Her professional affiliations include Music Educators National Conference and ASTA with NSOA. She currently resides in Seattle, Washington with her husband and two children. She is continuing her work as a conductor, clinician and consultant for string education.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ORCHESTRA SARAH ANGELES, CONDUCTOR CARL RIEKE, ORGANIZER
Ms. Angeles conducts the Dorman Philharmonic and teaches beginning strings at Anderson Mill Elementary and Jesse Bobo Elementary. She coordinates the SSWAT program (String Students with Advanced Teens).She joined the District Six faculty in 2011. Previous to working in Spartanburg, Ms. Angeles worked nine years at the high school level in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to her public school teaching in Las Vegas, Ms. Angeles taught the String Methods class at the University of Las Vegas and directed one of the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras for five years. After having her first son Jacob Dean she moved to Columbia, SC where she taught at a brand new middle school building the string program from a part time position to a full time position in four years. Ms. Angeles earned her Bachelor’s Degree in music education from Loyola University in New Orleans under the mentorship of her father, Professor Dean Angeles, a nationally recognized music educator and all-state conductor. She earned her Master’s Degree in applied performance from the University of Las Vegas. Her professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Educators as well as the South Carolina Music Educators Association. She played professionally for two years with the Las Vegas Philharmonic and currently plays with civic ensembles in Asheville, NC. Throughout the summers Ms Angeles continues her higher education, attends conducting/string workshops, and directs several summer camps in the Carolina area. In her personal time she and her husband enjoy raising their two young sons, Jacob Dean and Maxwell Morton.

9TH & 10TH GRADE STRING ORCHESTRA JEREMY WOOLSTENHULME, CONDUCTOR PATRICIA CLEATON, ORGANIZER
Jeremy Woolstenhulme currently serves as the orchestra director at Hyde Park Middle School in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Woolstenhulme received his B.M.E. from Brigham Young University in 2000 and an M.A. in Cello Performance from the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) in 2005. His professional affiliations include both MENC, and ASTA. Mr. Woolstenhulme has enjoyed much success as an orchestra director. He has traveled with his Chamber Orchestra to festivals in Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, London, Washington D.C., Boston, Miami, and New York, earning top awards at every venue. The Hyde Park Middle School Chamber Orchestra was honored to have been selected to perform at the 2008 and 2017 Midwest Clinic in Chicago. The Chamber Orchestra also played at the ASTA convention in Santa Clara in 2010 and in Kansas City in 2011 and in March 2015 won first place in the junior high division of the National Orchestra Festival in Salt Lake City. As an author and composer Mr. Woolstenhulme has several published works to his credit. He is a co-author of a new string method series called String Basics published by the Neil A. Kjos music company. He has several string and full orchestra works published and available through Kjos music as well. As a string clinician Mr. Woolstenhulme has presented teaching ideas at many state music conventions throughout the United States including the Midwest Clinic and several times at the ASTA convention. He has travelled internationally to do string teaching presentations in Canada, Australia and China. Mr. Woolstenhulme is also a musician with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and a freelance musician performing at many venues located on the famed Las Vegas “Strip”. He is married to his beautiful wife, Taryn, and they have four children: Cadence, Coda, Canon, and Caprice.

Jay Dean has been the Music Director and conductor of the Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 1988. During his tenure the orchestra has grown into a university ensemble that has earned a distinguished national reputation. Founded in 1920, the Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra is the oldest operating symphony orchestra in the state of Mississippi. It presents a umber of annual subscription concerts per season in Hattiesburg, as well as many concerts throughout Mississippi. In addition to its regular symphonic concerts, the Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra performs as the orchestra for all opera and musical theatre productions. Dean received his DMA in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Texas at Austin. Before coming to The University of Southern Mississippi, he was Music Director of Dekalb Youth Symphony Orchestra in Atlanta, the Mercer University/Atlanta Chamber Orchestra, the Columbus State University Orchestra, the Atlanta Festival Orchestra and Chorus, the Austin Civic Orchestra, and the Southwest Chamber Orchestra. He also served as assistant conductor for the Austin Lyric Opera. He has conducted concerts featuring world-renown soloists such as Plácido Domingo, Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Sir James Galway, Joshua Bell, Denyce Graves, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Jean Pierre Rampal, Christopher Parkening, Edgar Meyer, Roberta Peters, Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, and Ricky Skaggs. He has also guest conducted many orchestras in the United States, Latin America, and Europe. He has been the executive director of the Professional Resource Institute for Musical Excellence, the executive director of the Vicksburg International Chamber Music Festival, president of the Mississippi Orchestra Teachers Association, the Artistic Director of the Southern Arts Festival, state president of the National Opera Association, regional membership chair for the International Conductors Guild, and past president of the Mississippi Music Educators Association Orchestra Division. He also served as the representative from the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning on the advisory board for the formation of Mississippi School for the Arts, and has served on the board of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters and the Mississippi Opera Education Committee. He was also music coordinator for four international art exhibitions presented by the Mississippi Commission for International Cultural Exchange. Dr. Dean is a member of the International Conductor’s Guild.

11TH & 12TH GRADE STRING ORCHESTRA DR. NOVÉ DEYPALAN, CONDUCTOR LORI GOMEZ, ORGANIZER
Dr. Nové Deypalan is a recognized award-winning conductor in the United States and Europe. In January 2016, he received the Special Commendation Award in London with the London Classical Soloists Conducting Competition. In February 2014, Deypalan was a Prize Winner and awarded the Highest Distinction in the International Masterclass with the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in Russia. He was a two-time winner of the International Conductors Workshop and Competition in Georgia, USA in 2012 and 2013. Significantly, in February 2012, he premiered Fang Man’s “Dream of a Hundred Flowers” at Carnegie Hall in New York. Deypalan has conducted prominent orchestras such as, the Berlin Sinfonietta in Germany, Filharmonie Bohuslav Martinů in Czech Republic, Festival Orchestra in Santa Cruz, California, and the London Conducting Workshop Orchestra at the Royal Academy in London. Deypalan has led ensembles in repeat performances at Carnegie Hall and command performances for Saint John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. In addition, Deypalan is not exclusively a conductor, but also a published composer and entrepreneur. In June 2008, he conducted the world premiere of his original composition, Libera Me for solo baritone, chorus, and orchestra at Pasadena City College. His compositions are managed by Alliance Publishing Incorporated. Presently, he serves as the CEO and Artistic Director of the MUSIKATO INTERNATIONAL, a Talent Agency, Music Producer & Publishing Company, and The Los Angeles Conducting Institute, respectively. Deypalan is committed to bring his insatiable desire and lifelong commitment of striving to make music at its finest and highest level of creativity. Deypalan was hailed by the Columbia FreeTimes of his interpretation of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No.1 as a “fearless performance...first class music-making.” Dr. Deypalan maintains an active role in serving as guest conductor and clinician of both vocal and instrumental ensembles in middle schools, high schools, community orchestras, semi-professional bands, and orchestras in Europe, Asia, and the United States. He is very excited to share his passion and expertise to conduct the young musicians at the 2018 GMEA All-State 11/12 String Orchestra. He received the Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting at the University of South Carolina and Master of Music at the University of Southern California. His conducting teachers and coaches include, Dr. Donald Portnoy, Kenneth Kiesler, Gustav Meir, Larry Livingston, Donald Brinegar, Larry Rachleff, and Neil Thomson. In addition to his devotion to music, Nové advocates health consciousness. He completed the Los Angeles Marathon in 2002. Dr. Nové Deypalan hails from the small town of Victorias, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

11TH & 12TH GRADE FULL ORCHESTRA DEAN ANGELES, CONDUCTOR TODD MANSON, PERCUSSION COORDINATOR ROSIE RIQUELME, ORGANIZER
Dean Angeles, Professor emeritus, conducted the Loyola University Chamber and Symphony orchestras and coordinated a comprehensive string education program for the Loyola College of Music in New Orleans for 26 years. Seventy students received their degrees in string education under Angeles’ tutelage. Prior to his tenure at Loyola University, he was string coordinator and high school orchestra director in Hays, Kansas and Spartanburg, South Carolina. His highly acclaimed public school and university orchestras appeared at national music conferences and completed successful concert tours of Europe, as well as the United States and Costa Rica. Professor Angeles has served as conductor or clinician in 33 states, including 24 all-state orchestra festivals. He has also served as conductor or clinician at numerous university summer music clinics, and was orchestra director for three summers at the Muziek-en-Sportkamen in Belgium, sponsored by Jeugd en Muziek, Brussels. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Classical Arts for 2003, sponsored by Big Easy Entertainment Awards, New Orleans and Gambit Weekly. In 2004, he was awarded the Rita Huntsinger Distinguished Endowed Professorship in Music Education and was inducted into the high school hall of fame in his home town, Garden City, Kansas. Dean was awarded the Midwest Clinic Medal of Honor, in Chicago in 2010, and was inducted into the Southwestern College Fine Arts Hall Of Fame, in Winfield, Kansas in 2011. In August, 2016, Dean and his daughter, Sarah Angeles, were string education clinicians at the Workshop Internacional De Aprendizado Colevtivo De Cordes in Curitiba, Brazil. Dean continues to perform with the Asheville Cello Choir.
