Vævetraditioner – siden 1756 –
Georg Jensen Damask er en kulturbærer af dansk designtradition og håndværkshistorie. Virksomheden blev grundlagt i 1756, men der har været vævere i familien bag Georg Jensen Damask helt tilbage til 1500-tallet. Vores historie bygger på godt håndværk med respekt for vores arv og traditioner. Vi er desuden kendt for at forene æstetisk design med kvalitet og funktionalitet, der holder mange år frem. Gennem tiden har vi arbejdet sammen med nogle af de mest anerkendte vævere, kunstnere, designere og arkitekter inden for deres fag, som f.eks Arne Jacobsen, Cecilie Manz, Andreas Engesvik, Nanna Ditzel og mange flere. Endvidere har vi mange projekter i samarbejde med Kongehuset bag os og kan med stolthed kalde os ’Kongelig Hofleverandør’.
Weaving Weaving traditions traditions – since 1756 – – since 1756 – Georg Jensen Damask is a culture bearer within Danish design tradition as well as the history of craft. The company was established in 1756, but members of the family behind Georg Jensen Damask have been weavers all the way back to the 1500s. Our history is built on craftsmanship with respect for our heritage and traditions. Moreover, we are known for uniting aesthetic design with qua lity and functionality that last for many years.
In the course of time, we have worked with some of the most well-known artists, weavers, designers and architects in their field as for example Arne Jacobsen, Andreas Engesvik, Cecilie Manz, Nanna Ditzel and many more. Furthermore, we have been involved in several projects with The Danish Monarchy and are proud of our title ’Purveyor to Her Majesty The Queen of Denmark’.

Vores kollektion er som altid kendetegnet ved klassisk og funktionelt design af høj kvalitet. Alle vores tekstiler er skabt til at blive brugt hver eneste dag, men vi har på samme tid fokus på design og farvesammensætning.
As always, our collection is characterised by classic and functional design of a very high qua lity. All our textiles are made to be used on an everyday basis but at the same time we pay great attention to design and colour schemes.
Sæsonen byder på mørkere toner af grøn kombineret med grå og navy. I AW18 kollektionen lancerer vi endvidere vores samarbejde med designduoen OLDER Paris, som giver deres fortolkning af et moderne, men stadig klassisk sengetøj. FINNSDÓTTIR dugen kommer i en ny farve i et begrænset antal, og så lancerer vi nye farver på duge, viskestykker, puder og plaider.
This season, we introduce darker tones of green combined with grey and navy. In the AW18 collection, we are also launching our collaboration with the design duo OLDER Paris who presents their interpretation of a modern, yet classic bed linen. The FINNSDÓTTIR table cloth is launched in a new colour in a limited edition, and new colours on tablecloths, tea towels, pillows and throws are also available this season.

NEWS Soft living Den mørke og kolde tid lægger op til at trække stikket og leve livet indendørs. Det passer godt med tidens tendens, som handler om at sætte tempoet ned og finde plads til ro og harmoni i en travl hverdag. Velvære er derfor et nøgleord denne sæson. Vores tekstiler er som skabt til komfort og velvære med et stort udvalg af sengetøj, håndklæder, puder, plaider og mange andre bløde sager i kollektionen.
The dark and cold season holds a desire to pull the plug and for indoor living. There is a general tendency for slowing down and finding time for peace and harmony in our busy everyday lives. Well-being is therefore a keyword this season. Our textiles are indeed designed for comfort and well-being with a wide range of bed linens, towels, cushions, plaids and many other pieces of softness in our collection.
Farvemæssigt fortsætter nuancerne i det grønne som i sidste sæson, men tonerne bliver lidt mørkere. Især den armygrønne har fundet vej til kollektionen og giver sammen med navy et smukt og klassisk look. Tilføj også gerne et strejf af bordeaux for at skabe et mere feminint udtryk. Klassiske designs fra kollektionen lanceres i nye forklædninger, for eksempel fås FACET nu som vævet senge tæppe i 100% bomuld og TRIPP som plaid i 100% lambswool.
In terms of colours, shades of green are still predominant like in the previous season, but in darker tones. The army green colour is a newcomer in the collection, which in combination with navy provides a beautiful and classic look. Also, add a touch of burgundy for a more feminine expression. Classic designs from the collection are launched in new appearances, for example FACET is now avail able as a woven bedspread in 100% cotton and TRIPP as a throw in 100% lambswool.

OLDER Paris design collaboration Bag designduoen OLDER Paris står Letizia Caramia og Morten Thuesen. Begge har en baggrund inden for mode med erfaring fra blandt andet Alexander McQueen og Isabel Marant. Siden 2013 har de designet bæredygtige uniformer til high-end hoteller og restauranter, som for eksempel NOMAs 108. I samarbejde med Georg Jensen Damask læg ger OLDER Paris nu også navn til en serie af sengetøj. Resultatet er OLDER sengetøj. Mode forgår, design består Sammen forlod Letizia Caramia og Morten Thuesen modebranchen med en lyst til at skabe design med lang holdbarhed frem for den altid skiftende mode. I dag er designduoen bosat i Paris, hvor de arbejder med at skabe bæredygtige og langtidsholdbare designs, der ældes med ynde. Derfor navnet OLDER Paris.

The design duo OLDER Paris is founded by Letizia Caramia and Morten Thuesen. Both have a background in fashion from positions at Alexander McQueen and Isabel Marant amongst others. Since 2013, they have been designing sustainable uniforms focusing on high-end hotels and restaurants, as for example NOMA’s 108. In cooperation with Georg Jensen Damask the two are now also designers of a home collection with a series of bedding named after the design duo. The result is OLDER bed linen. Fashion is for now, design is forever Letizia Caramia and Morten Thuesen left the fashion industry with a common desire to create everlasting design rather than ever changing fashion. Today the design duo lives and works in Paris, from where they are creating sustainable designs that age gracefully. Hence, the name OLDER Paris.

En klassiker af OLDER Paris Tankerne bag OLDER Paris sengetøjet er baseret på et tilbageblik på den danske designarv og med en stor forkærlighed for Georg Jensen Damask, som Morten Thuesen er vokset op med fra barnsben. Designet står i naturlig forlængelse af Georg Jensen Damasks velkendte klassiske designlinje, men med et tydeligt aftryk fra OLDER Paris. Inspiration kommer fra den klassiske, stribede skjorte, og sengetøjet er endda med knapper, der er betrukket med bomuldstråd.
A classic by OLDER Paris OLDER Paris bed linen is based on a retrospective view on Danish design tradition as well as a long lasting love for Georg Jensen Damask which Morten Thuesen has inherited from his family. The design is a natural continuation of the well-known classic design line of Georg Jensen Damask, but with a distinctive OLDER Paris signature. The inspiration comes from the classic striped shirt, and the bed linen is completed with thread coated buttons.

CHRISTMAS by DESIGN Thora Finnsdóttir Sidste år lancerede vi FINNSDÓTTIR juledugen af designer Thora Finnsdóttir. I år kommer dugen i farven North Atlantic i et begrænset antal, hvoraf 180 duge er broderet med nummer og Thora Finnsdóttirs underskrift. Designet tager udgangspunkt i Thoras keramiske univers, hvor hendes unikke former er blevet transformeret til vævninger. Inspirationen kommer fra facetteret glas og har resulteret i det smukke grid med stjernen, der giver den klassiske juledug en moderne streg. Dugen er ikke kun smuk på et veldækket julebord, men også praktisk med en pletafvisende overflade. FINNSDÓTTIR designet kommer også som viskestykke i en pakke med et EGYPT køkken håndklæde. Fås i farverne Jade Green eller Dark Grey.

Last year we launched FINNSDÓTTIR Christmas tablecloth by designer Thora Finnsdóttir. This year it is also available in the colour North Atlantic, but only in a limited number of which 180 are embroidered with an individual number and Thora Finnsdóttir’s signature. The design is based on Thora’s ceramic universe, where her unique shapes have been transformed to weavings. The inspiration co mes from faceted glass, where the beautiful grid with the star gives the classic Christmas tablecloth a modern look. The tablecloth is not only beautiful as a part of a well-set Christ mas table, it is also very practical with a stain-repellent surface. The FINNSDÓTTIR design is also available as a tea towel in a Christmas gift package with a EGYPT kitchen towel. Available in the colours Jade Green or Dark Grey.

Vores historie bygger på stolte vævetraditioner gennem århundreder. Meget har ændret sig siden den tidlige begyndelse, men når vi kigger tilbage, så ligger håndværket og den gode kvalitet dybt forankret i Georg Jensen Damask.
Our history is built on proud weaving traditions through centuries. A great deal has changed since the early beginning, however when we look back, the craftsmanship and the high quality of our textiles are deeply rooted in Georg Jensen Damask.
I tæt samarbejde med nogle af Skandinaviens bedste designere, vævere og arkitekter arbejder vi hver dag på at bidrage til den store Georg Jensen Damask arv, der går helt tilbage til 1500-tallet.
In close cooperation with some of Scandinavias most talented designers, weavers and architects, we continuously work to contribute to the great Georg Jensen Damask heritage that goes back to the 16th century.

From 1756 The 16th century The Georg Jensen family is the cornerstone of the Georg Jensen Damask we know today. The large oak loom, which has been in the family since the 1500s, is displayed in our showroom in Kolding.
Fra 1756 Vævetraditioner og traditionel kvindebeskæftigelse bliver for alvor til et håndværk. Da Andreas Jensen (1733-1805) og Kirsten Christensdatter (1740-1781) gifter sig, bliver væveriet det vigtigste erhverv på Vævergården.
From 1756 Weaving traditions and traditional women’s work becomes a recognised craftsmanship. When Andreas Jensen (1733-1805) and Kirsten Christensdatter (1740-1781) marry, weaving be comes the primary profession at Vævergården.
Fra 1850 Jens Andreas Jensen (1854-1936), der har overtaget efter sin far Henrik Georg Jensen (1815-1881), deltager på udstillinger i ind- og udland. Det bringer hæder og udmærkelse med sig, blandt andet en guldmedalje på Verdensudstillingen i Paris.
From 1850 Jens Andreas Jensen (1854-1936) takes over after his father Henrik Georg Jensen (18151881) and participates in fairs at home and abroad. It brings honour and appreciation, including a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris.
1850’s 1915 Væveriet flytter til større lokaler på Hollændervej i Kolding. Henrik Georg Jensen opstarter designsamarbejde med arkitekter og designere. En industrivirksomhed etableres.
1915 1915 The weaving mill is moved to larger locations at Hollændervej in Kolding. Henrik Georg Jensen initiates design collaborations with architects and designers. An industrial company is established.

1920’erne Væveriet beskæftiger 10-12 personer. I starten af 20’erne tegner arkitekt C. Svane det første logo, og i slutningen af 20’erne omtegner arkitekt Knud V. Engelhardt logoet til det, som vi kender i dag, med de to væverfugle.
The 1920’s The weaving mill employs 10-12 persons. In the earlys 20’s, architect C. Svane draws the first logo, and in the late 20’s architect Knud V. Engelhardt redraws the logo characterised by the two weaverbirds.
1942-1949 Det første A/S stiftes i 1942. Kollektionen sælges gennem en konsulentorganisation, der besøger kunderne i deres hjem. Designarbejdet reetableres langsomt i krigens sidste år efter en pause på grund af råvaremangel. I en alder af 26 år overtager Bent Georg Jensen direktørposten i 1949.
1942-1949 The first Ltd (A/S) is founded in 1942. The collection is sold through sales personnel, who visit customers in their homes. The design development is re-established during the last years of World War 2 after a shortage of raw material. At the age of 26, Bent Georg Jensen takes over the chief executive position in 1949.
1963 Fabrikken flytter til Dieselvej 1 i Kolding i en tid, hvor mange væverier lukker på grund af dårlige tider og mangel på kunder.
1920 1990’erne Væveriet udvikler sig og er nu udstyret med elektroniske væve. Bent Georg Jensen bliver den sidste ejer af væveriet i Georg Jensen-slægten, og traditionen for en familieejet virksomhed gennem generationer er kommet til sin afslutning.

1963 The factory moves to Dieselvej 1 in Kolding at a time when a lot of weaving mills are closing down due to bad times.
1942-49 1990’s The weaving mill is developing, now with computerised weaving looms. Bent Georg Jensen becomes the last owner of the weaving mill in the Georg Jensen family. The tradition of a family-owned company through generations has reached its end.
2000 Georg Jensen Damask tildeles titlen som Kongelig Hofleverandør efter langvarigt samarbejde med det danske Kongehus, som for eksempel har resulteret i Kronedugen og vægtapeter til Riddersalen på Christiansborg. Fra 2002 I 2004 købes Georg Jensen Damask af familien Hviid, og virksomheden er igen 100% familieejet. I årene fra 2002-2004 udfases konsulentorganisationen, og Georg Jensen Damask begynder åbningen af egne butikker. I 2010 lanceres vores webshop, der hurtigt bliver den største salgskanal, og der etableres samarbejde med forhandlere og agenter i både indog udland.

I dag Georg Jensen Damask er i dag en moderne designvirksomhed med fokus på kvalitet, funktionalitet og klassiske designs. Gennem et tæt samarbejde med tidens bedste designere har vi skabt et designunivers af klassiske tekstiler.
2000 Georg Jensen Damask is assigned Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen after years of co-operation with The Royal Danish Court, which for example has resulted in Kronedugen and wallpaper for The Knights Hall at Christiansborg Palace. From 2002 In 2004, the Hviid family buys Georg Jensen Damask, and it is once again a 100% family-owned company. From 2002-2004, the external sales personnel is phased out, and Georg Jensen Damask begins the opening of flagship stores. In 2010, our web shop, which rapidly becomes the largest sales channel, is established as well as a network of agents and retailers both at home and abroad.
Today Today Georg Jensen Damask is a modern design company, still with a focus on quality, functionality and classic designs. Through close cooperation with the best designers of our time, we have created a design universe of classic textiles.

Vores damaskvævede tekstiler går ofte i arv, fordi de er skabt til at holde mange år frem. Det er der flere gode grunde til. For eksempel går der 23.600 enkelttråde i en dug på 165 x 260 cm, der er vævet i 100% egyptisk bomuld med kæmmede og tvundne garner, som giver stærke og holdbare tekstiler.
Our damask-woven textiles are often passed down from generation to generation. There are several good reasons for this. Our 165 x 260 tablecloths are woven with 23,600 single threads in 100% Egyptian cotton with combed and twisted yarns that provide a strong and durable textile.
Damask er en avanceret væveteknik, der giver os mulighed for at arbejde med mønstre, selvom vi for det meste arbejder med ensfarvede duge. Vi arbejder også hele tiden med at udvikle nye kvaliteter for at imødekomme hverdagens udfordringer, som det er tilfældet med vores coatede og overfladebehandlede duge.
Damask is an advanced weaving technique that allows us to work with patterns, even though we mostly work with single-coloured tablecloths. Also, we are constantly developing new qualities to meet the challenges of everyday life, as it is the case with our coated and surface treated tablecloths.

Vores kollektion af sengetøj er vævet i 100% egyptisk bomuld, der er den fineste bomuldsvariant med de længste fibre. Garnet er kæmmet, hvilket betyder, at der kun væves af de længste garner, som giver det mest holdbare resultat. Til forskel fra vores duge anvender vi kun enkelttrådede garner, fordi vi ønsker lethed og åndbarhed i vores sengelinned.
Our collection of bed linen is woven in 100% Egyptian cotton, which is the highest quality of long fibred cotton. The yarn is combed, which means that only the longest yarns are woven ensuring the most durable results. Unlike our tablecloths, we only use single threaded yarns because we aim for lightness and breathability in our bed linen.

Vores frotté er vævet med dobbelttrådet garn i 100% langfibret kæmmet bomuld, som giver høj slidstyrke i de lange løkker samt en blød kvalitet. I bunden anvendes mellemlange fibre, der sikrer en god tørreevne. Hele vores kollektion af frotté er med indvævet logo og i en skandinavisk farveskala med støvede, klassiske toner.
Our terry is woven with two-threaded yarn in 100% long-fibred combed cotton, which ensures a high resistance to wear in the long loops as well as a soft quality. At the base, medium-length fibres are used to provide optimal drying capacity. Our entire collection of terry has our logo woven into the textile and comes in a Scandinavian colour palette of dusty classic tones.
