he good news just keeps on coming for Calgary’s real estate market. Arriving on the heels of a May that
saw MLS® sales in the city jump by more than 30 per cent, a new report from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) suggests there’s still more positivity on the horizon. Lured by full-time job growth and low mortgage rates, CMHC’s Spring 2012 Calgary Housing Market Outlook

forecasts residential MLS® sales in the city will increase for the second consecutive year, rising by nine per cent in 2012 to 24,500 units. One key reason for the prosperous prediction is the number of people calling Calgary home. According to CMHC, net migration to the city – an important driver for the real estate industry – is expected to increase to 17,000 in 2012 and 17,100 in 2013, after dropping below 10,000 in 2010. “Improved job creation, rising incomes, increased net migration, and
