PROCESS

The Historic Center of Mexico City is an important site for the Mexican culture. The main idea of the building comes from the importance that this location has in the national history. When people visit the historic center they do it because they want to know about it, and to have a direct contact with the culture. The project reflects the unsteadiness of the city due that it was founded above aquifers, matching the location of older pre-Hispanic Cities that had been constructed on this site. That is why the emphasis of the empty space used along the building; it reinforces the sensation of ‘floating’ above the history.

This Project is located in the historic center of the City of Oaxaca, a place with a great historical and cultural legacy. The main idea of the project is taken from the local market, a location known by residents and tourists.

SANTO DOMINGO

The project contains an analysis of the market space and what happens in it during a day. As we can see in the diagrams, the market at the beginning of the day is organized as an orthogonal grid. As time passes, it begins to transform. As a result the market starts creating different environments and different perceptions about the space. CONTEXT

The axes that were included in the context around the site were taken as reference guides for the deformations of the orthogonal grid.

CONTEXT MODEL Materials: Balsa Wood y Paperboard

As a result of the deformation of the axes, the spaces created are chaotic, which resembles the market activity. In order to show respect for the Historical Building of Santo Domingo, a plaza was constructed so the people could appreciate the architecture of this important religious center.

Bernalillo is a town located near the city of Albuquerque. This region is defined by customs that make reference to preHispanic pueblos. The project is about the creation of a community center where the society is able to coexist through sports and arts. The main idea of the Project resides in the topographic study according to the flow of different elements. Water is the most important one since the Rio Grande sets the limits of this town.

Albuquerque serves as the economic capital of New Mexico. The state film industry is growing at a fast rate. The state is willing to allocate part of the budget on the development of this type of industry. The project focuses on this issue, a center where new technologies are developed that could be applicable to the digital industry.

The ‘Cube of Energy’ is the most essential point of the Project because it is the core that connects all the parts. Adobe is the material that leads the architectural style in Albuquerque. The purpose of the project is to obtain the information of its surroundings and transform it into a whole new language; copper is the evolution of the analyzed material.

Pencil Marker Ink Architectural Drawings

1 Pencil

Sketching with pencil is the most essential part for an architect, it helps to create quick representations and drawings that are helpful for the architect. The picture presented is a drawing made in the first year of architecture studies.

2 marker

The drawings presented were done in the Artistic Drawing class during the first year of the architecture career. The technique demanded the use of markers, experimenting with different shades of gray, as well as a variety of colors. Shadows are an important point for the realism of the drawings.

FINAL DRAWING

3. ink

Ink is an important element of representation due to the fact that it adds an artistic touch that can be very attractive for the client. These drawings were presented in the second year of architecture.

FINAL DRAWING

4 ARCHITECTURAL REPRE S ENTATION

The architectural rendering by hand is often a forgotten topic; however, it is very important for the overall development of an architect. The manual ability highly reflects the quality of a designer’s work. These drawings were done entirely by hand in the second year of architecture studies.

The drawings shown are sketches of history classes. It is important to know the different typologies done in the past in order to enrich the knowledge of the architectural language.

The graphic design should always be taken into account in the daily activities of an architect because the presentation of projects is an essential part of the image and reputation of an architect. These logos are some extracurricular work that I have done throughout my career.
