In 1875, Friedrich Küppersbusch founded Germany’s first stove factory in the Gelsenkirchen district of Schalke: F. Küppersbusch & Söhne, which started out producing handcrafted coal-burning stoves. The company’s founder evidently had his finger on the pulse of the times: just five years after the firm was established, it began using large-scale production methods. In the following years, it continued to grow rapidly: by 1913, it was the biggest specialised factory on the continent and had a workforce of 2,500 employees.

Before it reached its 90th anniversary, Küppersbusch was offering a complete range of kitchen appliances, including gas cookers, extractor hoods and refrigerators. round 1 0, the fitted kitchen made its way into German households – and Küppersbusch was one of the first producers to manufacture the built-in appliances for it. In the years that followed, the Gelsenkirchen company continued to have a lasting impact on the built-in appliances market with innovations like ökotherm, its catalytic cleaning technology for ovens and stoves that was launched in 1985. But since 1993, design has also been a major focal point, with the company successfully participating in design competitions ever since. More than 60 of its products have won national and international awards to date, including such major and prestigious prizes as the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, various Red Dot awards, the iF Design Award and the Platinum Award for Design Excellence . In 201 , K ppersbusch was appointed a foundation member of the German Design Council, and one year later it was accepted into the circle of Major German Brands featured in the Council’s series of books by the same name.

“Values are essential in order for a traditional company like Küppersbusch to keep evolving while remaining true to itself as a brand,” explains Dr Stefan Popp, managing director of Küppersbusch Hausgeräte GmbH. “For us, that means values like tangible quality, first-class design, perfect function and healthy enjoyment. Values that define us as a brand and show what Küppersbusch stands for: Für Küchen mit Stil, as our tagline says. It translates as ‘For kitchens with style’, but we use it in German all over the world to emphasise our heritage.” Individual and intuitive: the new products from Küppersbusch When it comes to developing new products, Küppersbusch has been homing in on the topic of individuality for several years now. In 2013, the company launched its Individual concept, which enables users to adapt the appliances to their personal preferences. Besides three different appliance fronts in black, white and grey, customers can also choose from numerous design elements in anything from classic stainless steel and wood inlays all the way to Swarovski® crystals. The new range of ovens that the long-established Gelsenkirchen company launched early this year is also designed for maximum individuality and intuitive usability. The range also includes ovens with new functionalities, as well as wifi-enabled appliances. The specially developed K-Connect app

allows users to control the ovens in the Profession+ series remotely, select recipes and send them straight to the appliance, complete with the correct oven settings. Conspicuously subtle: the new Shade of Grey series The appliances of the Shade of Grey series are another new addition to the range and, as the name suggests, are designed in a warm shade of metallic mid-grey. The conspicuously subtle colour echoes the up-to-theminute trend in interior design right now. While the appliances are a perfect match with natural materials like wood, stone and concrete, they look just as stunning in conjunction with white kitchen surfaces. In recent decades, the Gelsenkirchen company has often demonstrated its ability to combine an unwavering instinct for the tastes of the times with timeless design. Their clear, objective language continues to give Küppersbusch appliances a high recognition factor. As a result, the pioneer of cooking technology is perfectly equipped for the future too.
