GTDEE activities and events

In 2019, the German-Thai Dual Excellence Education (GTDEE) programme organised various events and visits together with all 8 partner organisations. The number of apprentices who enrolled in the programme increased 52% to 250 students, from 165 students in the previous year.

The activities throughout the year were aimed at establishing the German Dual Vocational Education Standard, both in companies and in colleges. In addition, public relations activities such as promotional events were organised to highlight the project among the public.

GTDEE’S PARTNER COMPANIES AND COLLEGES AS OF 2019

GTDEE service portfolio

GTDEE has established a set of services for all par ticipating par tners, to ensure sustainable implementation of Dual Vocational Education and Training (DVET) in several areas. To ensure dual training on a permanently high level, companies, colleges and students interested in the GTDEE programme must go through several assessments to screen their competence status. Therefore, GTDEE has developed a selection procedure for companies, colleges and students. A company or college that provides “dual training” must fulfill certain requirements regarding the suitability of the training premises. A quality analysis system (DVQD) developed by GTDEE identifies gaps in several areas, i.e., internal management, infrastructure and methods of teaching.

After the identification of the gaps, GTDEE consults on all issues in DVET by advising on curricula or training plan development or by conducting different types of technical workshops and seminars. In order to enhance a collaborative exchange between the co-operating partners, GTDEE has developed a set of services to exchange relevant information between teachers and trainers, or for use of methods of relevant training issues in technical professions. The objective of the examinations provided by GTDEE is to ensure a comparable nationwide standard in theoretical and practical examinations that will be certified by the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Activity plan for 2020

These activities are related to the progress of the sustainability of dual vocational education.

Since education is a continuous development process, GTDEE will continue to work on refining dual vocational education and training standards in Thailand, with the goal of sustainability in order to push Thailand towards becoming the hub in ASEAN as follows:

1. GTDEE intensive courses preparing apprentices for GTCC PAL Interim Examination 2020 (batch 2019) and GTCC PAL Final Examination 2020 (batch 2018); 2. GTCC Final Examination 2019 for 16 apprentices (batch 2018) in four professions from two companies (certified by GTCC); 3. GTCC PAL Final Examination in automotive mechatronics for 29 apprentices from BMW Service Apprentice Programme 2018 and Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme 2018 based on the “PAL final examination”; 4. “GTDEE Train the Trainer” (AdA - Ausbildung der Ausbilder) International Programme for trainers from partner companies; 5. “GTDEE Teach the Teacher” Workshop for teachers from partner colleges; 6. GTDEE programme introduction to partner and potential colleges for the apprentice’s recruitment; 7. GTDEE pre-selection and aptitude test for all partner companies from eight different partner colleges; Chitralada Technology Institute, Don Bosco Baan Pong, Don Bosco Bangkok, Eastern Technical College (E.Tech), Lopburi Technical College, Khon Kaen Technical College, Samut Prakarn Technical College, Thai-Austrian Technical College; 8. Mechatronics development project (GIZ) for partner colleges; textbooks translation, teacher development workshops, student development workshops; 9. Workshops and assessments for the apprentices from partner companies such as mathematics courses, analytical skills development; 10. Soft skill trainings for the apprentices from company partners such as first aid and lifesaving procedure, systematical concept development, mind mapping workshop, decision making under condition of uncertainty training; 11. Vocational education committee development and working groups.
