Additional revenues go to the Foundation to support the social economic development works that are being carried out by its Ulaanbaatar office and rural facilitators. Our Methodology Generate revenues via the Agency (private sector) to supplement the Foundation’s social and economic development initiatives (public sector). It’s the responsibility of the Agency as it matures, in cooperation with the greater industry, to find new and creative ways to tap the “global” market and use this massive social economic power responsibly to systematically materialize the vision of GeoTourism development in Mongolia.
The Foundation
Our public sector Approach Social Enterprise Development via GeoTourism Responsible mobilization of community assets via field assessments, analysis and vocational
trainings of rural human resources for sustainable livelihoods and conservation of natural and cultural resources. Ger to Ger systematically enables rural communities to responsibly and sustainably tap the tourism industry to generate sustainable livelihoods through vocational training (Foundation) and market linkage development (Agency). Rural communities, particularly herder groups in league with rural single service suppliers (rural drivers, guides, other human resources and businesses), provide travel services and products to the travel industry. Ger to Ger productively utilizes herders and their existing assets to develop cultural eco travel products that results in increased incomes for rural families and their communities. Our Methodology Fostering sustainable social economic growth through geotourism development. Ger to Ger aims at strengthening the appreciation for rural communities to conserve and protect their natural resources through vocational trainings (GeoTourism Development). Tangible social and economic incentives that are being generated via Ger to Ger creates an environment that enables nomadic families and communities deepen their understanding of the relationships that exist between tourism, environment and greater industry demands through vocational trainings, monitor and evaluation, etc. Our inclusive, non-discriminative approach, allows us to systematically train and mobilize nomadic families and communities into productive economic activity. Rural families participate in seasonal workshops and assist in establishment and maintenance of travel routes and products. Public-private sector partnerships are fostered towards small and medium enterprise support that creates business enabling environments to encourage economic diversification, labor market creation, promotion of community services that are in line with greater industry demands to ensure sustainability.

As one of Mongolia’s most sought after and highlighted travel destinations, every traveler should at least try to make one visitation to this truly remarkable region of Mongolia. With its amazing mountainous scenery that are abundantly filled with wild flowers, wildlife, etc., that can only be surpassed by the pure clarity and massiveness of Lake Khuvsgul. With its vast number of mountain streams that continuously feeds it fresh mountain waters, on calm and sunny days, the lake’s reflection projects the surrounding mountainous region with mirror precision. The sum of Khuvsgul Lake’s natural wealth and wonders can only be matched by a truly unique remote nomadic tribe that have settled in this region that live in American Indian style tepee tents with their reindeers. This trip is a wonderful combination of truly spectacular natural, environmental and cultural experiences that is sure to leave you with a brilliant impression. Day 1 - Welcome to Mongolia! (D – Overnight in Hotel): Upon your arrival, our guide will pick you up and transfer you and your group to the hotel for check-in. This is a great opportunity to take it easy and rest a little before the following days of adventure across Mongolia’s diverse range of geographic wonders by airplane. After your short rest, you will begin your city tour that includes highlights such as the Gandan Monastery, National Historical Museum, Sukhbaatar Square and Government building before the evening welcome dinner and later retiring to your hotel. Tonight it’s a good idea to retire early so that you may adjust your body to the time and altitude differences. Day 2 - Khuvsgul Lake, Mongolia’s Largest Inland Water Body (B,L,D): This morning we will fly to Murun which is the provincial capital of Khuvsgul, upon arrival, we will meet with the rural driver at airport and start our driver northwards towards Khuvsgul Lake. It has been recorded that Khuvsgul Lake is the deepest lake in Central Asia with a maximum depth reaching 262 meters. Most of the region is heavily oriented to eco development and still today its water is crystal clear and fresh; the reflections of larch forests and majestic Mountains in the lake’s water are amazing. Khuvsgul Lake is the recipient of 96 rivers and streams while the Egiin River exits from it and provides a wonderful catch and release fly fishing, kayaking and even rafting environment for those active enthusiasts. Khuvsgul Lake is truly a remarkable destination and should be a highlight of any traveler’s itinerary to Mongolia. Today is your free day to absorb the wonderful natural surroundings, enjoy a refreshing walk along the shoreline, trek into the surrounding forests, etc., before returning to the ger camp where you will have dinner
and overnight. Day 3 - Horse Riding along Khuvsgul Lake to visit the Reindeer Tribe (B,L,D): The Reindeer Tribe earned the Mongolian name “Tsaatan”, which roughly translates as “with reindeer”. The Tsaatan Tribe originally migrated from Siberia’s Tuvan region and has historically inhabited this border region between Russia and Mongolia. The Tsaatan have depended on domesticated reindeer for nearly all of their basic needs that includes milk, it’s meat for food, skins for clothing and antlers for tools, etc. Our journey to this region will be done by both horseback and by foot to go searching for them; however, we cannot guarantee their locations as the Tsaatan often migrate between different locations (the more stationary Tsataans are located in extremely remote areas far from our travel path). Regardless of this minor detail, the lushly filled mountainous scenery of the region surrounding the Lake is well worth the exploration time as well as their vantage points! In the early evening you will return to the local ger camp where you will have your evening farewell dinner before retiring to your ger for the night. Day 4 - Return to Ulaanbaatar City for Shopping (B,L,D): Today we drive from the lake down to Murun, where we will take one and half hour flight to Ulaanbaatar. FUSION TRAVEL: GER TO GER & HIGHLIGHTS OF MONGOLIA Every day is an adventure, full of challenges and new areas of exploration - around the cities, rural villages or deep in the outback! The northeastern region of Asia where Mongolia is located is extraordinarily different from its southern tourism counterparts. Where southern destinations are well known for its soft and easy going travel, beaches, resorts, diversity of Asian foods, diving and etc., Mongolia is a country of extremes - from the northern river and lake regions where Tsaatan reindeer herders live the ancient way, to the western mountainous regions where Kazakhs hunt with their eagles, to the southern Gobi regions where nomadic herders struggle to survive in vast and epic desert landscapes, to the eastern regions where open steppe’s Buriat cowboys herd their livestock not far from the largest gazelle herders of Central Asia, to the central mountainous pasture regions where nomadic life is easy going and families enjoy making homemade dairy products from Yak and Mare’s milk near scenic rivers valleys. Most of traditional Mongolia is explored either nomadically by making use of horses, camels, ox-carts, horse-carts or even camel carts! But now it is very common to see nomadic families
using the ‘Iron Horse’ to assist in their herding of livestock as its easier on the horses that they care for as using a horses to herd can weaken them during times of drought or bad pasture seasons.
