FAA / ICAO TO JAA CONVERSION PROGRAMME

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :

- JAA Class 1 medical certificate - FAA / ICAO CPL license with SEP, MEP and IR ratings - Flight experience (*): - 180 hours flight hours - Min. 50 hr Cross Country as Pilot-In-Command, with one flight of 300 NM and landing at least at two different airports - Min. 100 hours Pilot-In-Command (min. 50 hours cross country) - Min. 5 hrs Night flight (1 hr PIC, 5 take-off and landings) - Min. 65 / 60 hours CPL/IR (MEP / SEP) – Min. 10 hours CPL + 55 hours IFR (to obtain IR-ME rating) or 50 hours IFR (to obtain IR-SE rating). Up to 40 hours can be accredited from simulator hours (5 hours CPL + 35 hours IR)

- 9th Year School Grade (minimum) or 12th Year School Grade with Maths and Physics (in alternative the student can attend these classes in GFA) JAA ATPL THEORY For the theory part, required to start the practical part of the conversion programme, you will need to complete an approved theory programme and approve all 14 JAA ATPL Theory exams. Gestair Flying Academy offers two options for this : Maths and Physics (if necessary): € 175 / each subject DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMME 650 hours with online support (for more information see information sheet on Online ATPL Theory course). Cost : € 3.100,00 (including set of books) Duration : 24 weeks (15 – 30 hours study per week) (estimated) RESIDENCIAL PROGRAMME 460 hours taught in our Groundschool bases according to availability. Cost : € 7.550,00 (set of books additional € 700,00) Duration : 9 months (estimated) FLIGHT PROGRAMME There are two options for the flight programme : TRADITIONAL COURSE 15 hours Cessna 152 (analogue cockpit) 15 hours Beech 76 Duchess (analogue cockpit) The CPL, IR and ME exam shall be done in the Beech 76, the SE exam in the Cessna 152 Cost : € 10.000 (including pre- and post-flight briefings) Duration : 6 weeks (estimated) GLASS COCKPIT COURSE 15 hours Cessna 172 NAV III (Garmin 1000 Glass Cockpit) 15 hours Piper PA34 Seneca or Beechcraft BE-76** (analogue cockpit) 5 hour Garmin 1000 Trainer*** 5 hours Cessna 172 NAV III (G1000) simulator The CPL, IR and ME exam shall be done in the Piper PA34 or BE-76, the SE exam in the Cessna 172 NAV III. To take full advantage of the Garmin 1000 technology, the Garmin 1000 Transition Course consists of a theory course and CBT’s, followed by 5 hours in the Garmin 1000 Trainer*** and 5 hours in the Cessna 172 NAV III sim Cost : € 12.275,00 (including pre- and post-flight briefings) Duration : 7 weeks (estimated) MCC Two options are available for the MCC Course (mandatory under JAA for all airline pilots): BEECH 200 KING AIR 28 hours of theory on the Beech 200 systems and Crew Resource Management (CRM) 20 hours (10 Pilot Flying & 10 Pilot Not Flying) in our Beech 200 FNPT-II MCC simulator. Cost : € 3.100,00 Duration : 5 weeks AIRBUS A320 48 hours of theory on the Airbus A320 systems and CRM 8 hours of Airbus A320 Cockpit Preparation Training (CPT) and 40 hours (20 PF & 20 PNF) in our full-motion Airbus A320 FNPT-II MCC simulator. ICAO LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY QUALIFICATION (AERONAUTICAL ENGLISH) Mandatory for all pilots engaged in international flight by ICAO requirement. Gestair Flying Academy is authorized under JAA legislation for the examination and training for this ICAO Requirement using the prestigious Mayflower College of English method. Cost : diagnostic exam € 25,00 / official exam € 125,00

ACCOMMODATION For those students that require accommodation, shared apartments (individual bedrooms) or other solutions can be provided. A room in a shared apartment is € 390 per month. Food, drinks and transportation are not included in this price.

The license shall be issued according to all JAR-FCL regulations and requirements under the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authorities (INAC).

In exceptional cases, the requirements or training programme may have small variations. ** The type of multi-engine aircraft used for this option of the conversion process will depend on the selected training base and availability *** Candidates with previous Glass Cockpit experience do not require the 5 hours Garmin 1000 Trainer. **** This price is for one attempt. In case any student needs to repeat any exam, or part thereof, additional fees will be applicable. Each theory subject that needs to be repeated has an additional fee of € 22 (Aviation Authority exams) and € 7,50 (school exams) ***** This price is for 3 hours of flight exam. In case any student needs to repeat it, additional fees will be applicable. Each additional hours of flight has a fee of € 40

Take into account that this is training and not all students reach the required training standards at the same moment during the courses. In exceptional cases, additional training may be necessary before taking the flight exam. The training prices provided are therefore an estimate and in case of additional training being required, could increase. Training in Portugal is exempt from VAT. Gestair Flying Academy charges the prices in Euros. Not included in the price : Fuel surcharges if applicable, flight navigation maps (VFR / IFR) and other materials. Revision date : December 2011
