Sometimes the conventional methods work. However, sometimes you need to be a little inventive. For example, the classified ads always have and always will be a great place to start looking for new opportunities in your chosen profession. The only problem here is the competition. Technically, everyone who reads your local paper could be in competition with you. Thus it is very important that you take your advantages where you can get them. Pore over the weekend papers; they have more job ads. Plus, when you find a job in which you are interested, submit your application as soon as you possibly can. One of the things that you could start doing if you are in the market for a job is look for jobs via notice boards. These boards can be found pretty much everywhere, union offices, coffee shops and even in some schools and colleges. Another great idea is to look for help wanted signs in windows of places that you may be interested to work in such as bakeries, cake shops, bookstores or even a coffee shop. Employment agencies can provide a lot of opportunities as well. In addition, your name will be on file at the agencies with which you sign up, making it more and more likely that something will come through for you. The same thing goes for temp agencies. It may not be an ideal solution, but a temporary job can always lead to a permanent position, especially if you are good at what you do. In the meantime, you are at least assured of making income. Sometimes, word of mouth is the best way to find a good job. Let your friends, family members, neighbors, acquaintances, etc., know that you are looking for a job. Talk to the cashier at the grocery store and the teller at the bank. Any one of those people may hear of a job opening somewhere. Talking to them about your search can help make sure that they think of you first. Finally, if you are serious about looking for a job, talking to some of the employers that you may be

looking at about hiring you, simply asking about a job can not hurt and it shows that you ask for what you want.
