Assistant GFMD

The Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) is a long term practitioner-led process open to all sides of the community involved in media development around the world. The GFMD constitutes a network of some 500 non-governmental media assistance organisations operating in about 100 countries across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Eurasia and the Americas, which support the development of independent media at the community, national and regional level. It is the mission of the GFMD to make media development an integral part of overall development strategies, just like education or health. The GFMD’s basic values are support for free expression, media freedom and independent journalism as defined by the declarations of UNESCO at global conferences in Windhoek, Almaty, Santiago de Chile, Sana’a and Sofia.
