Reconociendo el trascendental objetivo de este evento deportivo, el cual desafía los límites y la resistencia personal, valoramos que desde nuestra entidad federativa se pueda enviar un mensaje positivo, de reactivación económica y dinamismo social, para México y el mundo en el actual contexto de pandemia. Hoy Mazatlán es un atractivo turístico nacional e internacional gracias a la transformación y el mejoramiento en su infraestructura, servicios, seguridad y a la histórica hospitalidad de su gente. Tenemos el malecón más emblemático de México y uno de los más grandes del mundo, el cual, sin lugar a dudas, será inspiración para llegar hasta la meta. Así como organizamos uno de los mejores Tianguis Turísticos en la historia del país, también vamos a brindarles las mejores condiciones para el éxito de este macro evento. MENSAJE DEL DIRECTOR DEL ISDE Estimados amigos deportistas, turistas e invitados especiales al Gran Fondo New York (GFNY), edición Mazatlán. Sinaloa, en particular el puerto de Mazatlán los recibe con los brazos abiertos, esta bella ciudad ha sido testigo de grandes hazañas en diversos eventos deportivos de talla internacional, que dan muestra del potencial con el que contamos en cuanto a la organización, recreación e infraestructura hotelera. Para nuestro estado es un honor que el GFNY se desarrolle en esta Tierra de Campeones, sabemos del nivel competitivo del que seremos testigos, donde miles de ciclistas de todo el mundo buscarán sus mejores marcas para poder acceder a la gran final de este magno evento en la ciudad de Nueva York. Sinaloa es una tierra de grandes deportistas, podemos presumir a ciclistas profesionales clasificadas a los Juegos Olímpicos Tokio 2021, Luz Daniela Gaxiola González y Yareli Salazar Vázquez, pero tenemos más motivos para llenarnos de orgullo y es tener a un gran líder en la persona de nuestro Gobernador, Quirino Ordaz Coppel y a su señora esposa Rosy Fuentes de Ordaz, que nos ponen el ejemplo en la práctica del deporte. Gracias señor gobernador y señora Rosy por traer a Sinaloa este magnífico evento mundial que se celebra en 22 países, es un acierto que Mazatlán sea la tercera ciudad en México que la recibe, seguro estoy será todo un éxito, que marcará un antes y un después para el ciclismo en nuestro estado. Sean todos bienvenidos, que sea una excelente estadía y mucho éxito.

MENSAJE DEL SECRETARIO DE TURISMO DE SINALOA Estimados deportistas, turistas e invitados especiales del Gran Fondo de Nueva York (GFNY) Edición Mazatlán, Es un verdadero honor que nos visiten en el marco de éste importante evento, Mazatlán es uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes del país, y el primero en crear ciclovías a lo largo de 18 kilómetros uniendo toda la zona turística de la ciudad, misma que es utilizada por los turistas, deportistas y como vía para el transporte de la ciudadanía. En Mazatlán nos distinguimos por ser sede de importantes eventos deportivos, y el Gran Fondo Nueva York es uno de ellos, en nuestro puerto podrán disfrutar de una experiencia única: infraestructura turística de primer nivel, gastronomía inigualable, playas tranquilas, así como la calidez del Sinaloense que es excepcional, todo esto acompañado de los protocolos sanitarios necesarios. El recorrido que harán en el circuito de GFNY, les dará una idea de lo que el puerto tiene para ofrecer siendo un destino turístico renovado en los últimos años, y estoy seguro de que regresarán a pasear por las bellas calles de nuestro Centro Histórico, o bien a dar una vuelta en pulmonía por el malecón. En Mazatlán seguimos transformándonos y estamos por abrir el Acuario más grande de Latinoamérica, un lugar que sin duda tendrán que visitar, así como nuestro Parque Central y para los amantes del futbol el Kraken, casa del Mazatlán FC. No me queda más que desearles el mayor de los éxitos y que disfruten cada uno de los kilómetros que recorran en Mazatlán, gracias por visitarnos y ser parte de ésta edición del Gran Fondo de Nueva York.

La ciudad turística de Mazatlán se complace en recibirte y mostrarte por qué es llamada la Perla del Pacífico. Desde recorrer los 20 km de la avenida del Malecón con vista al Océano Pacífico, hasta disfrutar de la mejor cocina de mariscos de todo México, estamos seguros de que la pasarás increíble mientras estés aquí. Todos hemos estado entrenando muy duro durante este último año, y con muy pocas opciones de carreras alrededor del mundo para participar, GFNY Mazatlán será tu oportunidad de finalmente darle un propósito a tu entrenamiento. Hemos planeado una carrera increíble para ti, con un recorrido que será rápido, técnico, divertido y desafiante y al mismo tiempo con el sabor GFNY al que todos ustedes están acostumbrados. El perfil de la ruta puede parecer plano, pero no te engañes, ya que una vez que salgas de la ciudad, las colinas sin duda te quemarán las piernas. Ford GFNY Mazatlán también será la oportunidad para que muchos participantes ganen la medalla de finalista 3X GFNY de las carreras 2020-2021. Esto significa que si participaste en una carrera de GFNY World en 2020, ésta contará para tu medalla de finalista 3X. A WARM WELCOME TO THE INAUGURAL FORD GFNY MAZATLAN Welcome to the inaugural edition of Ford GFNY Mazatlan and the first GFNY race of 2021. The tropical resort town of Mazatlan is excited to host you and show you why this is called the Pearl of the Pacific. From riding along the 20km Malecón avenue overlooking the Pacific Ocean to enjoying the best sea food cuisine in all of Mexico we’re sure you will have an incredible time while here. We have all been training very hard during this past year, and with very few races around the world to participate at, GFNY Mazatlan will be your chance to finally give your training a purpose. We have planned an amazing race for you with a course that will be fast, technical, fun and challenging at the same time with the GFNY flavor you are all used to. The course profile might look flat but don’t fool yourself as once you leave town the rolling hills will definitely put the burn in your legs. Ford GFNY Mazatlan will also be the chance for many participants to earn there 3X GFNY finisher medal from 2020 - 2021 races. This means if you participated at a GFNY World race in 2020 it will count towards your 3X finisher medal. To all our returning GFNY racers we appreciate your trust and confidence in GFNY and especially your patience during these times. Firma con tu nombre en el muro de registro tradicional de GFNY Mazatlan y toma una foto de My Goal Time. PASO 4. Disfruta de la expo GFNY Mazatlán y de todos los fantásticos accesorios para bicicletas que se exhiben.

PICK UP YOUR RACE PACKET IN 4 EASY STEPS STEP 1. Find your name and bib number on the registered

participant wall or scan any of the advertised QR codes at the expo area with your phone to view the participant list. STEP 2. Go to your corresponding packet pick up stand which is identified by your bib number to pick up your race packet, jersey and goodie bag. STEP 4. Sign your name on the traditional GFNY sign-in wall and take a My Goal Time photo. STEP 5. Enjoy the Ford GFNY Mazatlan expo and all the cool bike toys on exhibition.

La expo de GFNY Mazatlán es el lugar para recoger el número de competencia, chip de carrera, pulsera, jersey y la mochila de amenidades. Recoger todos estos artículos es obligatorio. Para registrarte, por favor trae contigo una identificación gubernamental con foto y tu email de confirmación. Deberás recoger tu paquete de manera personal. Por favor recuerda que los paquetes no se podrán recoger el domingo el cual es el día de la carrera.

GFNY Mazatlan EXPO is the location for race number, timing chip, wristband, jersey and goodie bag pick up. Advance pick up of your race material is mandatory. In order to check in please bring your government issued photo id and email confirmation. Packet pickup can only be done in person. Please note that there is no registration or packet pickup on Sunday race day. Your friends and family can join you at the expo. The expo is free and open to the public.

▪ Los paquetes de competencia están organizados por número de competencia. En la entrada de la expo, checa en la pizarra tu número de competencia con tu nombre. Una vez firmada la exención se te entregará tu paquete de competencia y tu pulsera que te permitirá el acceso a la ruta.

EL PAQUETE DE COMPETENCIA INCLUYE

▪ La pulsera que se te colocará al momento de recoger tu paquete y la deberás portar hasta el final de la carrera. La pulsera te permitirá obtener tu comida gratis en el área de recuperación. ▪ Placa con número de carrera con corbatas de alambre para asegurarla en el frente de la bicicleta. ▪ Número bib con clips de seguridad para sujetarlo en el bolsillo trasero del jersey. El número bib también identificará tu bicicleta y mochila documentada. ▪ Revista de la carrera Ford GFNY Mazatlán 2021. ▪ Botella de agua Elite 800 ml Ford GFNY Mazatlán 2021. ▪ Calcomania de perfil de carrera 2021. ▪ Mochila empacable GFNY. Después de recibir tu paquete, revisa que toda tu información personal esté correcta. Si necesitas realizar un cambio en tu información, como cambiar tu contacto de emergencia o cambiar el nombre de tu equipo, por favor acude a la ventanilla de CAMBIO DE DATOS/REGISTRO. RACE PACKET INCLUDES

Yes. Send an email to your friend, authorizing them to pick up your goodie bag, along with a copy of your photo ID. Then at the expo your friend can show the email and a copy of your ID at the check-in booth to pick up your goodie bag and jersey for you. The goodie bag will not include the race chip or number.

Q: I’M FLYING IN ON SATURDAY NIGHT. CAN MY FRIEND PICK UP MY RACE PACKET FOR ME?  No. For security reasons, every participant has to be present at packet pickup on Friday or Saturday. If you cannot make it to the expo to pick up your race packet, you will forfeit taking part in the event. We recommend changing your flight to arrive in Mazatlan to make it to the expo in time.

4. Tomar rutas alternativas o cortar camino dará lugar a la descalificación de la competencia actual y a una prohibición en futuras competencias de GFNY.

6. Abuso

6.1. Ningún ciclista podrá ser irrespetuoso con los directores de carrera, oficiales, personal, ciclistas, voluntarios o espectadores. 6.2. RULES 1. GFNY Mazatlan (“GFNY”) is a bike ride where riders are individually timed.

2. ENTRY

2.1. The entry to GFNY is open to riders aged 18 or older. GFNY has the sole discretion over entry numbers and cut off dates. 2.2. Riders who are serving a ban by a federation for a doping violation will be refused. Riders who have served their ban are allowed to ride in the event but will neither be timed nor be in the results and will start at the back. 2.3. Each rider has to ensure that his/her health condition is sufficient for the event. 2.4. Each rider is responsible for having sufficient insurance coverage. GFNY may offer additional insurance at its sole discretion. 2.5. Entries are not refundable, transferrable or deferrable. No rider shall be entitled to an entry fee refund in case of disqualification, race cancellation, race postponement or race modification. 2.6. GFNY reserves the right, in its sole and complete discretion, to deny entry, to revoke the entry application of any applicant at any time, and/or to disqualify any individual from the Event.

3. EQUIPMENT

3.1. Bike: any roadworthy bicycle is permitted. The following are not permitted: triathlon bikes, time trial bikes, triathlon/aero bars, tandems, e-bikes, prone bicycles, recumbent bikes and bicycles with chair seating (except for para-athletes) or mono cycles. Unsafe bikes can be banned at any time during the event. 3.2. Helmets must be worn by all riders at all times and have to be securely fastened with a chinstrap at all times while riding. 3.3. Jersey: the official event jersey of the respective year must be worn at all times. No exceptions. Wearing a different jersey will lead to a severe time penalty or disqualification. 3.4. Bike number: the number plate with the chip timing straps on the back must be attached to the handlebar and be clearly visible from the front at all times. Any alteration of the number will lead to a time penalty or disqualification or the timing chips may not work properly. 3.5. Jersey number: the jersey number must be worn on the jersey pockets, attached by safety pins. Any wrong positioning or alteration of the number can lead to a time penalty or disqualification. 3.6. Wrist band: the wrist band must be worn at all times during the event. 3.7. Riders have to carry at least one spare tube and a functioning pump or CO2 cartridge. 3.8. The use of headphones will lead to immediate disqualification or severe time penalty.

4. START

4.1. Riders without their GFNY jerseys, bike number, jersey number, helmet and wristband at the checkpoint will be refused access to the start area. 4.2. The starting corrals close 15 minutes before the start. 4.3. Start order: (1) VIP: Returning champions from the previous year (overall, age groups), guests (2) Competitive corrals (2.1) Top 10% of each age group of all GFNY World events of the previous 380 days. Top 20% of each age group of the previous GFNY Championships. (2.2) Licensed racers in several corrals according to their ranking. Minimum requirement: active Pro, active highest licensed amateur category. GFNY reserves the right to limit the front corral to qualifiers at GFNY World events if there are space constraints. Race corral requests may not be honored within a month of race day. (3.) General GF riders according to their age group (younger to older) (4.) Middle distance riders (5.) If a rider attempts to get in a corral further ahead than allocated he/she will be put in the last corral or disqualified.

5. COMPETITION

5.1. All riders are timed by chip timing from start to finish. Overall rankings are determined by gun time. Age group rankings are determined by net (chip) time. Only riders who complete the GFNY long distance course are eligible for competition ranking and prizes. The middle distance is a timed but non-competitive event. 5.2. Categories: Category is determined by rider’s age on December 31. (1) overall m/f (2) 18-39 m/f (3) 40-44 m/f (4) 45-49 m/f (5) 50-54 m/f (6) 55-59 m/f (7) 60-64 m/f (8) 65-69 m/f (9) 70-74 m/f (10) 75-79 m/f (11) 80+ m/f (12) under 90 him and her: times of a mixed gender team added. Riders have to be within 30 seconds at each checkpoint. Outside assistance between teammates is permitted and encouraged. No devices to push or drag are allowed.

Prizes will not be shipped or handed to anyone but the winner. 5.4. All protests concerning the order of finish shall be examined and resolved by the chief judge, whose decision is final and without appeal. It is the rider’s responsibility to familiarize himself/herself with the rules of the event and the course before the start. Taking alternate routes or cutting the course short leads to disqualification from the current competition and to a ban at future GFNY.

6. ABUSE

6.1. No rider may be disrespectful toward race directors, officials, staff, riders, volunteers or spectators. 6.2. No rider may use foul or abusive language during GFNY. 6.3. No rider may assault (an unlawful attempt, coupled with the present ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another) or do battery (any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another) to anyone connected with GFNY (including but not limited to riders, spectators, public officials, volunteers, staff, etc.). 6.4. Any of the above will lead to disqualification or a lifelong ban for Gran Fondo New York Inc. events (including but not limited to GFNY World events).

7. CONDUCT

7.1. Cyclists have to obey all laws of the road including traffic lights and stop signs unless overwritten by police. Violators may be ticketed by local law enforcement and/or disqualified and removed from the event. 7.2. No rider may make an abrupt motion so as to interfere with the forward progress of another rider, either intentionally or by accident.

7.3. Any rider who appears to present a danger to the other riders may be disqualified by GFNY either before, during, or after the event. 7.4. Pushing or pulling or any other physical assistance among riders is prohibited in all categories except the Him and Her categories where pushing or pulling is encouraged. 7.5. No outside assistance is allowed (incl. but not limited to team cars, personal support cars or handing in supplies from roadside). 7.6. If a rider is laying on the ground and is visibly in difficulty, any following rider has to stop and help unless there are already at least three people helping. You may continue if a) the victim is fine or b) medical personnel has arrived. Help others, you may need help one day. 7.7. Any misconduct with respect to the above will lead to disqualification and a lifelong ban at Gran Fondo New York Inc. events (including but not limited to GFNY World events).

8. ENVIRONMENT

GFNY is committed to protecting the environment. Any discarding of trash or food outside the designated trash receptacles at the aid stations or “eco zones” is prohibited and can lead to a time penalty or disqualification and a lifelong ban at Gran Fondo New York Inc. events (including but not limited to GFNY World events). Any urinating in public is prohibited and can lead to disqualification, ticketing by local law enforcement and a lifelong ban at Gran Fondo New York Inc. events (including but not limited to GFNY World events).

9. PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS

9.1 GFNY is committed to a drug free sport. Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) are prohibited in preparation for and during GFNY. GFNY reserves the right to enforce doping controls before, during and after the event. 9.2 Any violation of World Anti Doping Association (WADA) rules will lead to disqualification, reclaim of prizes and a lifelong ban at Gran Fondo New York, Inc. events (including but not limited to GFNY World events). GFNY shares positive doping controls with other event organizations as well as the public at large a rule violation has been determined. 9.3 If a rider declines to be tested, he/she will be banned. 9.4 A Rider who tests positive at GFNY will have to reimburse the cost of the doping control. Furthermore, such rider has to reimburse GFNY for any damages to its reputation that are a consequence of his/her positive doping control. If the rider is part of a team participating at GFNY, the team can be held liable for this damage.

10. ACCEPTANCE OF RISK

All those who ride and compete under these rules do so at their own risk. No liability shall attach to GFNY or any of its officials with respect to any loss or injury sustained or caused by anyone competing or riding in GFNY.

11. CHANGES Course, date, rule or any other changes pertaining to the Event can be altered if deemed necessary at the sole discretion of GFNY.

FACE MASKS: Face masks must be worn all the time inside the starting corrals, aid stations, and recovery/finish area. HEADPHONES: Don’t wear headphones. No exceptions. We want you to be aware of your surroundings. FIRST AID: If a rider is lying on the ground and is visibly in difficulty, stop and help unless there are already at least three people helping. If you are alone you can dial 911 and wait till the ambulance arrives. You can continue if a) the victim is fine or b) medical personnel have arrived. Help others, you may need help one day! URINATION: Please utilize the designated toilets. Do not pollute private or public land. TRASH: Please do not pollute the environment. Your GFNY Mazatlan jersey has a pocket at each side for your trash. There are four ECO ZONES along the course with large trashcans for disposal on the fly. OFFICIAL JERSEY & WRISTBAND: You must wear the official race jersey, bib numbers and wristband. OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE: Do not accept outside assistance at any place other than official feed zones. RIDE THE COURSE: Ride on the route marked by GFNY Mazatlan. We have several checkpoints along the route to verify that you are completing the designated course. CHAMPIONS JERSEY, WINNERS MEDAL AND WINNERS HAT The Champions jersey and winners medal is awarded to all 140km distance podium winners of age group, team, him & her, and overall. The winners hat is awarded to all 1st place category winners of the 140km distance. INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION The age groups are: 18-39 male/female 40-44 m/f 45-49 m/f 50-54 m/f 55-59 m/f 60-64 m/f 65+ f 65-69 m 70-74 m 75+ m

Every finisher receives a GFNY Mazatlan finisher medal. Every podium winner must wear the winner’s jersey while on the podium which will be handed to you before you enter the podium.

TEAM COMPETITION Individuals can register as members of a team to take part in the GFNY Mazatlan team competition. The four fastest times from a team will be added and ranked to determine the fastest team. The podium 4-person teams will be awarded prizes. All members of a cycling team who are competing in the team Competition are eligible for individual age group prizes. HIM&HER CATEGORY A female and male rider of the same Him & Her team have to cross the finish line within thirty seconds of each other. Because it’s tough to find two riders of the same ability and fitness, pushing, pulling, dragging, encouraging, shouting and any other means of working together is allowed. The Him & Her team competition consists of two age categories: sub-90 and 90+ years old combined. Members of Him & Her teams are not eligible for individual age group prizes because rider assistance between the team members in this category is permitted and encouraged.

SUJETA LA PLACA CON EL CHIP EN LA PARTE DELANTERA DE TU MANUBRIO. Asegúrate de que tu placa esté sujetada en la parte delantera de tu manubrio con las cintas que se te proporcionarán en tu paquete y de que estén bien ajustadas a tu bicicleta. Si tu computadora de ciclismo no te permite colocar tu placa directamente en el manubrio, deberás colocar la placa mirando hacia al frente, debajo de la computadora. VE AL MECÁNICO Y HAZ UN AJUSTE COMPLETO. No hay nada peor que no poder arrancar la carrera por un problema mecánico. Asegúrate antes de viajar de haber llevado tu bicicleta al mecánico para hacerle los ajustes necesarios y darle una revisión completa. Será solo un pequeño gasto y estarás contento de no terminar varado a un lado de la carretera esperando por un mecánico. REVISA TUS LLANTAS. Revisa tus llantas en busca de agujeros, vidrios, sobreuso o desgarros. Si tienes alguna de las anteriores será mejor conseguir nuevas llantas para evitar ponchaduras en la ruta de GFNY Mazatlán. LLEVA CONTIGO UNA CÁMARA DE REPUESTO, CO2 Y PALANCAS. Ya lo hemos dicho varias veces, aprende a cambiar tus propias cámaras y la pasarás mucho mejor. Lleva contigo el equipo necesario para reparar una pinchadura durante la ruta y ahorrarás tiempo valioso. EMPACA TU NUTRICIÓN DE CARRERA. No habrán bebidas ni comida disponibles durante la salida de la carrera por la mañana, así que es mejor que lleves contigo geles y aperitivos que te duren al menos la primera hora de competencia. Habrá 4 puestos de abastecimiento en la ruta para los 140 km pero si puedes llevar algunos geles en los bolsillo de tu jersey no tendrás que parar tantas veces. PLANEA LA MAÑANA DE LA CARRERA. Te recomendamos llegar a la línea de salida a las 5:00 am para tener un buen lugar en tu corral de salida. Así te dará tiempo suficiente de ir al baño, pasar seguridad, checar tu bicicleta y entrar a tu corral de salida. Si llegas tarde, serás colocado en los corrales traseros por el personal de seguridad. CHECA EL PRONÓSTICO DEL CLIMA: Asegúrate de usar la ropa adecuada según el clima. Mazatlán tiene un clima tropical por lo que te recomendamos llevar un chaleco ligero por si acaso.

FOLLOW THE CHECK LIST BELOW AND BE PREPARED FOR RACE DAY

PUT YOUR BIB NUMBER ON THE BACK POCKETS OF YOUR 2021 RACE JERSEY. Attach the bib number on your non- dominant side. If you’re right-handed, attach the bib number to your left and center pockets. ATTACH THE BIKE CHIP PLATE TO THE FRONT OF YOUR HANDLEBARS. Make sure the Bike Plate is attached to the front handlebar of the bike with the supplied zip ties and are tight and secure to your bike. If your bike computer prevents you from putting the bike plate directly on the bar, the bike plate should be placed facing forward, under the computer. GO TO A MECHANIC AND GET A FULL TUNE-UP: There’s nothing worse than not being able to start a race because of a mechanical. Make sure before you travel to take your bike to a mechanic who can check your bike and make all the necessary adjustment. It’s a small price to pay and you’ll be happy you won’t get stuck on the side of the road in Mazatlan waiving for a mechanic. CHECK YOUR TIRES: Check your tires for holes, glass, or overall wear and tear. If you have any of the above it’s better to get new tires and avoid a flat on the GFNY Mazatlan course. PACK YOUR SPARE TUBE, CO2, AND TIRE LEVERS: We say this again and again learn how to change your own tires and you’ll have a much better time. Pack all the necessary equipment to change a flat by yourself on the course and you’ll save valuable time. PACK YOUR RACE NUTRITION: There is no food or drinks available during the morning start of the race so it’s better to pack some gels and snacks that will last at least for the first hour of racing. There are 4 aid stations on the course for the 140KM but if you can pack some gels into your jersey pocket then you won’t need to stop and refuel so often. PLAN YOUR RACE MORNING: We recommend that you arrive to the start line by 5:00am to get a good position in your starting corral. This will give you enough time to go to the bathroom, clear security, do a final bike check and get into your start corral. If you arrive late then you will be placed in the rear corrals by security. CHECK THE WEATHER FORCAST: Make sure you wear the right gear for the days weather. Mazatlan has a tropical climate so it would be recommended to carry a light vest just in case.

El área de inicio abre a las 5:00 am, no llegues más tarde de las 5:30 am. Se necesitará tiempo para que todos se registren y lleguen a los corrales. El acceso a los corrales cierra a las 6:30 am. Si llegas después de las 6:30 am corres el riesgo de no tener acceso a los corrales y no aparecer en los resultados. El área de inicio estará cerca del Monumento al Pescador ubicado en la Avenida del Mar frente al océano. Asegúrate de ponerte protector solar y desayunar por la mañana. Trae tu identificación, efectivo, tarjeta de crédito y teléfono celular. Llena ambas botellas de agua y guarda algo de comida en los bolsillos de tu jersey. Habrá una estación de refrigerios y café solo para participantes VIP en la línea de salida. El jersey verde de GFNY Mazatlán 2021 que recibiste en la expo es vestimenta obligatoria para los participantes de GFNY Mazatlán. No estarán permitidos ningún otro jersey de GFNY o cualquier otro.

¡Sin jersey no hay salida! Asegúrate de traer tu brazalete puesto. Es tu pase de acceso al área de salida de GFNY Mazatlán, puestos de abastecimiento, calles públicas cerradas, fiesta después de la carrera, rifa, registro de bici y área de meta.

¡Sin brazalete no hay salida! Coloca tu placa con tu número en la parte delantera de tu manubrio y sujétalo con las cintas que te proporcionaremos. Tu placa te identificará como un participante oficial de GFNY Mazatlán con el personal de la policía. Además, tiene tu chip de cronometraje y éste sólo funciona si la placa está inalterada y colocada según las instrucciones.

¡Sin placa no hay salida! Debido a los protocolos sanitarios del gobierno, no habrá almacenamiento de equipaje este año. Asegúrate de hacer planes previos para que alguien guarde tus artículos para después de la carrera o trae sólo lo necesario.

Habrá baños portátiles, servicios de emergencia, entretenimiento, y servicio mecánico en el área de salida la mañana de la carrera. Nuestras estrictas medidas de seguridad y salubridad permiten el acceso a los corrales de salida únicamente a los participantes registrados al GFNY Mazatlán. Los participantes pasarán por controles sanitarios antes de que se les de acceso a los corrales. Por favor revisa los nuevos protocolos sanitarios dentro de esta revista para obtener más información.

Corrales de salida

Los corrales de salida estarán divididos por categorías; VIP, top 10% de anteriores carreras GFNY, ciclistas con licencia, grupos por edad de la distancia 140 km,, grupos por edad de la distancia 70 km y capacidades diferentes. Si tus amigos están en la misma categoría, los verás en tu corral de salida. Sin embargo, si están en distintas categorías, aún pueden arrancar juntos, pero la persona que se encuentre en el corral delantero deberá retroceder al corral donde esté su amigo. El evento empezará a las 7:00 am con o sin lluvia. Habrá una ceremonia de inauguración y una caravana liderará la carrera durante la salida. Espera un arranque rápido ya que en la salida los ciclistas lucharán por una buena posición y por la formación de grupos. Si llegas después de las 6:30 am corres el riesgo de no estar en los resultados oficiales. Asegúrate de llegar al área de salida a las 5:30 am para que tengas suficiente tiempo de encontrar tu corral.

RACE

MORNING

IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU’RE WEARING YOUR MANDATORY RACE JERSEY, BIKE PLATE, BIB NUMBER, WRISTBAND AND FACE MASK. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE STARTING CORRALS WITHOUT THEM The start area opens at 5:00am do not arrive later than 5:30am. It will take time to get everyone checked in and to there corrals. Access to the Corrals closes at 6:30am. If you arrive after 6:30am you will risk not having access to the corrals and not being in the results. The start area is located near Fisherman monument located on Avenida del Mar along the oceanfront. Make sure to put on sunscreen and eat breakfast in the morning. Bring your ID, cash, credit card, and cell phone with you. Fill up both water bottles and stow some food in your jersey pockets. There will be a snack/coffee station only for VIP participants at the start line. The green GFNY Mazatlan 2021 jersey that you received at the expo is mandatory attire for GFNY Mazatlan participants. Any other GFNY jersey or any other jersey is not permitted.

There will be portapotties, emergency service, entertainment and mechanics by the start area in the morning. Strict security and sanitary measures permit only registered GFNY Mazatlan participants to access the start corrals. Participants will go thru sanitary checkpoints before given access to there corrals. Please review the new sanitary protocols inside this magazine for more info.

No jersey no start! Make sure you have your GFNY Mazatlan wristband on. It is your all access pass to the GFNY Mazatlan start area, aid stations, closed public roads, Post race party, raffles and bike check at the finish. No wristband, no start!

Race Corrals The corrals are divided by these categories; VIP, top 10% of previous GFNY races, licensed riders, 140km distance age group riders, 70km distance riders. and physically challenged. If your friends are in your distance category, you will be in the same starting corral. However, if you are in a different distance category, you can still start the event together but the person in the front must move to the back corral where the friend is. The event will start at 7:00am promptly rain or shine. There will be a opening ceremony and a lead out caravan to start the race. Expect fast speeds during the start as riders are racing to get into position and form there groups. If you arrive after 6:30am you will risk not being in the final results. Make sure to arrive to the start at 5:30am so there’s enough time to find your corral.

Place the bike number plate at the front of your handlebar and attach it with the provided zip ties. Your bike plate identifies you as an official participant to police and GFNY Mazatlan staff. It also has your timing chips attached to it, and the timing chips will only work if the bike plate is unaltered and attached as instructed. No bike number plate, no start and no timing! Due to government sanitary protocols there will be no baggage drop off this year. Make sure to make prior plans for someone to hold your postrace items or bring only the bare necessities for post race. Everything must be picked up at the finish by 4pm or it will be discarded.

HOW FAST DO I HAVE TO RIDE? You can ride as fast as you want. However, the cutoff for completing the event is at 3:00pm which means you have 8 hours to complete the full course. This is approximately 10 mph including stopping at aid stations. A broom wagon will trail the course at 10mph. Stragglers who get passed by the car can either get a ride or will be riding on there own outside the event.

IF I HAVE A MECHANICAL ISSUE ON THE COURSE? We highly encourage all participants to have basic safety and repair skills, and in particular fixing a flat tire. Everyone has to bring at least a pump, levers, and a spare tube. However, if you are still unable to make the repair, rolling mechanical support vehicles and scooters with GFNY Mazatlan mechanics will be driving along the route throughout the day. If you have a mechanical that cannot be easily fixed, there will be transportation to take you back to the finish area. Please note that the wait for assistance and/ or the broom wagon can be long and by waiting you run the risk of falling out of the cutoff time and being able to finish the event. Visit your local bike shop to learn the basic repair skills, check out online videos or ask an experienced cycling friend.

IF I NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE WHAT DO I DO? Emergency medical service and kits will be at the aid stations, on the course and on call. There will also be rolling ambulances circling the route throughout the day. Police officers, marshals, and bike mechanics will be traveling on the course on motorcycles and in cars. Police officers will be stationed at the intersections controlling traffic and volunteers will be guiding the cyclists for turns at various locations. Each of these people will be able to assist in-case of an emergency. If you need help inform someone on the course and they will get help to you as quickly as possible and stay with you until help arrives. No matter at what point help will always be close.

¿QUÉ HAGO SI NECESITO ATENCIÓN MÉDICA?

IF I HAVE A BAD DAY AND REALIZE I WONT BE ABLE TO FINISH, WHAT DO I DO? GFNY Mazatlan will have SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles along the course for any cyclists who are unable to complete the event. Try to make it to the next or previous aid station, there you will have food, water, emergency medical services as well as volunteers to keep you company. If you are unable to ride to an aid station, move off the road and wait at the shoulder of the road until a mechanic or SAG rides by, they will be on the lookout for stopped cyclists. If you are riding and you see a cyclist on the side of the road who needs help, when you get to the next police officer or volunteer, report that you saw a stopped cyclist and their approximate location, they will call for an ambulance.

GFNY Mazatlán tendrá vehículos de Equipo y Soporte a lo largo de la ruta para cualquier ciclista que no pueda terminar el evento. Trata de llegar al puesto de abastecimiento más cercano, ahí encontrarás comida, agua, servicio médico y voluntarios que te harán compañía. Si te es imposible llegar a un puesto de abastecimiento, sal de la ruta y espera por los vehículos de soporte, ellos estarán en busca de ciclistas detenidos. Si estás rodando y ves a un ciclista a la orilla de la ruta que necesita ayuda, repórtalo a un oficial o voluntario en cuanto veas uno y diles su ubicación aproximada, ellos llamarán a la ambulancia.

¿ESTÁN PERMITIDAS LAS BICICLETAS DE TRIATLÓN? Por razones de seguridad, las bicicletas de triatlón o con aero barras no están permitidas.

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA LA COMPETENCIA POR EQUIPOS? Los cuatro mejores tiempos de cada equipo son añadidos al ranking para determinar al equipo más rápido. Si un equipo tiene 8 integrantes o más, tú equipo se dividirá de la siguiente forma: los 4 miembros más rápidos serán el equipo ‘A’, los siguientes 4 serán el equipo ‘B’, etc, en el resultado por equipos. ¿HABRÁ FOTÓGRAFOS DURANTE LA CARRERA, Y CÓMO COMPRO MIS FOTOS DE LA CARRERA?
