Rain of light

The Dome Design 8 layers of cladding. 180-meter diameter, 565-meter circumference, 7-meter width, and the distance between layers is 80 mm. Layers are rotated and scaled to give that design. Contains 10,968 individual elements , 7,850 individual stars. Weighs around 7,500 tonnes. Steel structure is almost 5,200 tonnes. Inner and outer cladding, perimeter rim around 2,000 tonnes. Supported by 4 permanent piers, 110 meters apart, placed at the corners of a perfect square. Interior dome elevation is above the ground floor level by 29 meters.

The load

Dome is self-sufficient to avoid the need for lateral restraint. Triangulated rim structure designed to prohibit spreading of the dome. 4 supports are equally loaded to ensure that prevention.
