PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Mumbai City is a fast paced city with as population of 22.5 million (2017), these people require a sustainable mode of transport connecting them to various parts in & out the city. Transportation is required to assist livelihood which is provided by different organizing bodies of the city. The multiple bus network is one such initiative to make the city more connected. Travel by Bus is predominant in Mumbai after Suburban rail mode. Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) is the backbone of road public transport of Mumbai.
PROBLEMS OF TRANSPORTATION IN MUMBAI
-Growth in private vehicle ownership
-Inadequate pedestrian casual approach of road users in observing driving rules, adhering to safety precautions and regulations.
-Inadequate on street and off street parking facilities
-Encroachments of shops, informal hawking activties etc.
-In efficient Intermodal integration of Suburban / Metro / Monorail Stations.
NEED TO DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT NETWORK
-Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is one of the fastest growing cities in terms of population growth and economic growth. Such populated cities require a well programed transport network and transport infrastructure
-Along with Greater Mumbai Thane Navi Mumbai and Mira Bhayander also need better connectivity with Greater Mumbai.
-In the years, 2013-14 and 2014-15 the bus ridership has gone down AC buses used to carry about 76,000 passenger trips in 2007-09 and the numbers have dropped to 22,000 in 2012-13 and further dropped to 8,000 in 2015. The possible reasons for decline in bus ridership is mainly due to relatively high travel times due to traffic congestion public using the IPT modes on share basis, etc.
VISION
To connect the city to various states & to create a medium of exchange of local cultures between the cities by mean of Exchange of Trade and Artwork
SITE CRITERIA
Mumbai also Known as bombay is the capital city of Indian state of Maharashtra
The most populated city in India & second most populous agglomeration in the world. Mumbai being the financial, commercial & entertainment capital of India provides scope to various type of population to apprecite their survival This city is thus an appropriate site for intervention for the improvement of the transport conditions of the masses.
The main reason for selecting Mumbai city as a viable location for intervention:-
- Scope of Employment opportunities, the most mportant aspect for human survival is a good mean of employment. Also cosmopolitan cities provide with various opportunities to find a better way of job.
- Lifestyle impact, with rise in the growth of cities a number of infrastructural, technological development occurs thus giving the city & people a thrust to modernized method of lifestyle. With engagement in modernized methods of lifestyle, various aspects of social connectivity are neglected.
Inter-district and Inter-state terminal
reviewed for Landuse Need of intervention – MCGM’s proposal to develop bus terminal
Considering the location of the Anand Octroi Nagar site and the absence of a Formal terminal for the residents in and around the proximity of the site to travel to the southern districts of Pune Kolhapur etc and further connecting routes to Bangalore etc as well as the northern districts of Nashik and further connecting routes to Indore etc, the site can be potential terminal for buses catering to these routes
Further Scope of Development for the site(Not pertaining to the academic schedule):
Considering the existing MSRTC Network for Thane district connecting the southern and northern districts and cities and the vast footprint of the site the econd phase / future development of the site can cater to development of the government bus facilities on the basis of the feasibility studies post the Phase 1 proposal completion.
On analyzing the location of existing terminals and accessibility to areas that are under served, CTS for MMR study notes that new inter-city bus terminals are required between Bandra and Borivali in the Western suburbs and between Kurla and Mulund in the Eastern suburbs
Four Inter-city bus terminals:
1. LBS Marg, Mulund (Octroi Naka area)
2. WEH, Dahisar (Octroi Naka area)
3. EEH, Anand Nagar (Octroi Naka area)
4. Sion-Panvel Highway: Vashi (Octroi Naka area)
Direct or indirect employment which includes, Loaders Licensed and Unlicensed Agents, Restaurant Owners Hawkers etc.

PROJECT INFORMATION
The project was on the similar grounds of Art Binnalae where after studying the old Portuguese settlements of Fontainhans Goa, a trail was to proposed within the settlement. Addition to this as a main program an Art Center was to be designed which could be the start or end point of the trail.
VISION
To reviving the culture & heritage of goa, through art form as a medium of expressions
GOAL OF PROJECT
The goal is to inherit the streets of Fontainhans with a contemporary idea for the same is to be designed for a multipurpose exhibitory space rejuvenating one’s senses by the water front site context.
SITE CRITERIA
Goa also Known as 'Pearl of the Orient' is the Indian state on the western coast in the coastal belt known as Konkan The most populated tourish city in India Goa being the Tourist & entertainmenthub of India has a rich exposure to various type of population to apprecite the local culture This city is thus an appropriate site for intervention of the revival & appreciate the importance of Art & it's importance in today's society.
SITE INFORMATION
Fontainhans Panjim Goa, Fontainhans, is the oldest Latin quarter of Panjim located at the foots of Altinho hills in Goa close to central Panjim city. It is bounded on the west by the hills with springs from which it's name derives On the east side it is bounded by an ancient creek known as Ourem Creek along which the site is located. Fontainhans has a rich cultural importance as its streets are flanked by brightly coloured houses due to which it fits as a perfect site for the program.
SITE ANALYSIS
The site is surrounded by built mass on the southeast & north-east sides with the Ourem Creek on the West side. Built mass thus help in obstructing harsh sunlight thereby creating a thermal comfort zone in the site. Built masses act as an Active stratergy to create comfort conditions The Ourem Creek acts as a Passive stratergy to create comfort conditions

SITE PLANNING FORM DEVELOPMENT
The Phenomenon of fragmentation of clustered units in order to break the monotonous trail & continous accumulation of built forms.
Continous human movement lacks pause points that create focal elements
The site is planned in a way creating ample of spill over open spaces around every space to ease out the ventilation access service related functions & to provide each space it's unique identity.
The zoning / planning of spaces thus support phenomenon of units being fragmented taking into consideration free & un obstructed human movement Human movement in a clustered unit is restricted as it is through a series of continously connected spaces Thus to create several pause points & focal points Cluster with common central spine for circulation, interconnection & accessibility to various spaces often tend to create a sense of comfort
