Our hospital has a strong tradition of caring for the community. Now, we have an opportunity to help shape the future by being a part of the Catskill Regional Medical Center Capital Campaign Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future.

Catskill Regional’s Capital Campaign is now in its employee giving phase called “We Believe.” By supporting renovations and enhancements to the hospital, you can help improve local healthcare for families in our community.

Employees can donate either by making a single donation (any amount will be appreciated) or choosing to use a payroll deduction over a defined period of time.

One exciting way to participate is to join The Power of One Club.

All you have to do to be a part of this exclusive group is pledge one hour of pay, per pay period, over the next three years. All participating employees will be listed on a permanent plaque that will be displayed in the hospital.

As Catskill Regional employees, we can help create a legacy providing superior healthcare every day. Together, we can meet this important goal and continue that heritage of caring generations.

Ribbon Cutting for Phase One Renovations of 5 East On February 4, hospital family members celebrated the first Phase of the 5 East renovations. Many employees, board members and guests joined us for comments praising our progress and the great future ahead for Catskill Regional. After our ribbon cutting, tours were provided and refreshments were enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who has worked hard on our transformation to date. More renovations are in the works! CRMG Participates In Food Service Challenge Catskill Regional Medical Group’s Primary Care office will take employee blood pressures as part of the Food Service Challenge during the month of February. Sullivan County Chamber First Friday Breakfast Catskill Regional hosted December’s First Friday Breakfast with food, coffee and yogurt smoothies. Dr. Gerard Galarneau welcomed approximately 75 business leaders from the surrounding area and introduced Dr. Bruce Ellsweig, who gave a presentation on our Primary Care services. Dr. Lorraine Allegro-Skinner was also in attendance as well, meeting and greeting fellow community members.

CONGRATULATIONS Gretchen Hartman, RD has been promoted to Clinical Nutrition Manager at Catskill Regional. Working with the Morrison Healthcare team, Gretchen joined Catskill Regional in 2013 and began her career as a Clinical Dietitian.

She completed her dietetic internship at University of Delaware and received a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Marywood University. Gretchen has served as treasurer of the Mid-Hudson Dietetic Association since 2013. She recently won the Quality and Patient Safety Award (30-day Medicaid Reduction in Readmissions) Top Achieving Team with GHVHS, which included the morning interdisciplinary team, and also graduated from the Diabetes Champion course earlier this year. Vladimir Paulovici has been appointed as Security Manager at Catskill Regional. Vladimir has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement and security. He was a member of the NYPD where he retired as a Police Sergeant. His roles in the NYPD included ensuring compliance with department policies and overseeing special operations units. Vladimir was also responsible for the computer system and communications at Madison Square Garden, often partnering with the Secret Service and FBI on safeguarding these systems. David DeLong has been promoted to GHVHS Manager of Business Intelligence and Development. David joined Orange Regional in March 2014 as a Data Reporting Analyst, where he was responsible for the automation of the GHVHS’s current reporting systems, through SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). In his new role, David’s scope of responsibility includes the development of a comprehensive strategy to distribute needed information across clinical, operational and financial channels.

David received his Associate of Science degrees in Mathematics and Computer Information Systems from Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, California, his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University in San Bernardino, California and his Master of Liberal Arts degree in Extension Studies in Information Management Systems from Harvard University Extension School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dana Hendrickson, BSN has been promoted to GHVHS Manager of EPIC Ambulatory Systems.

Dana joined Orange Regional in 2002 as a Critical Care Nurse. She served as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EPIC implementation (Electronic Health Records) and assisted in the validation of workflows with EPIC for the Critical Care Unit. Dana also served as a credentialed EPIC Trainer for the go-live of electronic health records for both Orange Regional and Catskill Regional Medical Centers. Ms. Hendrickson joined the IT department fulltime in 2012, as an analyst for EPIC Clindoc-In Patient Documentation and then the lead Analyst for EPIC ASAP – ED Clinical Documentation.

Dana obtained her Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Sullivan County Community College in Loch Sheldrake, New York and her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York. She can be reached at 333-2535 or dhendrickson@ormc.org.

Frank Salvatore Jr., RRT, MBA, FAARC has been promoted to the role of GHVHS Administrator Ancillary Services. He joined the Orange Regional family in March 2009 as Director, Respiratory, Pulmonary and Sleep Services. In September of 2012, when a new product line (Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine) for GHVHS was identified, Frank was selected to lead the development and implementation of the service in 2013. In his new role, Frank will have direct responsibility and oversight for Respiratory Care, Sleep Medicine, Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine and has been charged with developing a system-wide strategic plan to further integrate and strengthen our existing services across GHVHS. Schwartz Center The Greater Hudson Valley Health System held its first two Schwartz Center Rounds sessions in December and January. These employees planned and facilitated one or both sessions with nearly 200 staff members in attendance between the two sessions. Schwartz Center Rounds will be held monthly and will alternate between Catskill Regional and Orange Regional Medical Centers. GHVHS staff is invited to attend the sessions. Grateful Patient Thanks CRMC Staff Mrs. Sandy Blade recently visited Catskill Regional to thank Maggie Ebeling, RN for the outstanding nursing care that she gave to her husband while he was a patient.

She also thanked Dr. Galarneau and Dr. Shahzad with some homemade syrup and a scrumptious cheese cake for the medical care they gave her husband.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS Food Drive In Support of United Way

Staff members from Catskill Regional’s Laboratory staff collected presents to benefit the United Way of Sullivan County’s Food Drive. The Laboratory staff donated gifts to a family including five children and also sent the family a dinner. Additionally, Morrison Healthcare graciously donated 10 frozen turkeys to the food drive.

IT Security Reminder

It is against federal regulation for employees to look at their medical records or the records of any family members. The laws that govern appropriate access state that you should only access the information necessary to do your job. If you need to see your medical information, you can request a copy of your record from the Health Information Management Department or view your information in MyChart. Audits are performed and staff members will be disciplined according to the GHVHS HIPAA Breach & Discipline Policy. In the January 6, 2015 issue of the Sullivan County Democrat an article appeared featuring the first baby born at Catskill Regional in 2015. Baby boy, Aldo Perrelli, entered the world on January 1, 2015 at 7:48 a.m.

An article in the December 23, 2014 issue of the Times Herald-Record announced that Catskill Regional is a recipient of the 2013 Quality Improvement Award given by the New York State Perinatal Quality Collaborative Obstetrics Improvement project.

On December 22, 2014, the Times HeraldRecord featured an article on the $4,000 donation from Combined Energy Services to support digital mammography services at Catskill Regional.
