May 2015
From The President & CEO This month, as we celebrate our healthcare professionals, I want to thank each and every one of you for your commitment to serving our patients and dedication to your profession. We have many people going above and beyond every day and, this time of year, we are proud to highlight their accomplishments. Our Medical Staff and Board of Directors honored Dr. Nader Okby and Dr. Karen Finnigan with the 2015 Leadership Award. Additionally, we also recognized 51 physicians who have served our patients for 30 or more years with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. All were recently honored at the annual Physician Recognition Reception. My thanks to these outstanding physicians for reinforcing the values and mission of our hospital. Their service, guidance, leadership and expert delivery of healthcare services to our community should serve as an inspiration to all of us. Scott Batulis President & CEO
Every year we have the privilege of recognizing an employee with the Star of the Year Award. This year special congratulations are extended to Jesse Wright, a team member of our Maintenance Department. Jesse is a dedicated and hard-working member of our staff who illustrated strength and courage during a difficult situation this past year. I appreciate Jesse’s focus and commitment to patient and visitor safety and I am proud to have him on our team. We honored many employees this month at our annual Employee Service Awards Dinner. Special congratulations are extended Alice Bach Bast, Lauretta Colgan, Lynda Kerrigan, Emma Lee, Michael Thompson and Lora Wagner for celebrating 40 years of
service to our organization. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a true testament to their loyalty and dedication. Congratulations to our nursing staff. Seven Orange Regional nurses were nominated for Hudson Valley Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing 2015 Awards. Nearly 50 nurses were nominated in the region and among them were Orange Regional’s own Jane Giganti, Jayne O’Malley, Karen Huslinger, Tammie Jollie, Jeanne Price, Colleen Minnock and Katherine Bloss. Several of these nurses were also selected as Top 20 semi-finalists. This is a truly praiseworthy accomplishment. I’d like to also offer my congratulations to Tonianne Motta, Enid Berg, Nancy Famby and Tracy Blum who were selected as semi-finalists by our Nurse of Distinction Committee to represent Orange Regional at 1199 SEIU’s New York State Nurse of Distinction Ceremony held in Brooklyn on May 11. Special congratulations goes to Enid Berg who won first place in the Preceptor category. All nominees were selected for their dedication to their profession, patients, peers and our medical center. Thanks to everyone for all that you do. I hope you had an enjoyable Hospital Week and Nurses Week and took part in the celebrations that came with each recognition week. Thank you, also, to everyone who made the celebration of our employees extra special. These festivities are only a small token of our appreciation. Sincerely,
Scott Batulis, President & CEO
Expansion Project Reminder As our work continues on our proposed Medical Office Building and Cancer Center, a series of departmental moves are occurring. The Public Relations and Marketing Department has relocated at 110 Crystal Run Road, next to the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. The phone numbers for Public Relations & Marketing staff remain the same. Medical Education staff, EPIC and IT trainers have relocated to 200 Midway Park Drive which is the red brick building adjacent to the ORMC main lobby parking lot. Phone numbers for those areas also will not change. Trenching for utilities and paving near the project site is still in progress, so please exercise caution and common sense awareness to ensure your safety while walking and driving through the parking lots or on the ring road around the hospital. Please steer clear of construction vehicles and active work areas. Flagmen are on site in certain areas to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, as well as to ensure safety. Thank you for your ongoing support and please be safe and aware of construction areas.
