From The President & CEO Our services and expertise continue to grow at a steady pace. From the construction of our new Medical Office Building and Cancer Center to the expansion of our Medical Group and medical education programs, we offer quality healthcare to our community and educational expertise to a growing number of healthcare professionals.
Scott Batulis President & CEO
As a clinical site for medical education, I am proud of our expanding offerings to those entering the healthcare field or to those who are interested in continued learning. Within our state-of-the-art facility, we offer an enthusiastic staff dedicated to teaching individuals who span a variety of educational levels from nursing students to medical students and residents. We have formed partnerships with many local continuing educational institutions like Touro College and have expanded our ability to offer quality residencies to doctors across the nation.
Becoming a teaching facility and offering well-structured residency programs allow practitioners to learn and discover viable ways to improve patient care and specialize in the care they deliver within the ever-changing medical industry landscape. We have four residency programs: Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry and a Traditional Rotating Internship. On June 29, we welcomed 14 new residents to Orange Regional. All of the residents were impressed by our hospital orientation and have begun clinical training. Looking ahead to 2016, we have been approved and will open residencies in General Surgery and Internal Medicine. My sincere thanks to Dr. Ron Israelski, Director of Academic Affairs, for his vision and leadership in building our Medical Education Program here at Orange Regional. Additionally, I’d like to thank Dr. John Dermigny, Program Director for Family Medicine; Dr. Dulaya Santikul, Program Director for Emergency Medicine; Dr. Christian Castro-Nunez, Program Director for Traditional Rotating Internship and Dr. Ulrick Vieux, Program Director for Psychiatry. Without their leadership and expertise we could not offer the quality programs our residents expect. Along with our residents, the 2015-2016 academic year holds the largest class of third year medical students to date, with 24 in total. Out of 17 third year students we had last year, 15 have decided to stay with us to do their core rotations this academic year. This speaks volumes to what we are teaching and how we are supporting education. Our students feel they are in the right place.
OC Land Trust Honors Orange Regional For Its Commitment To Quality Of Life The Orange County Land Trust recently honored Orange Regional Medical Center at its Benefit Dinner! We are proud to positively contribute to the quality of life of our community.
I’d also like to thank Jenny Vosganian-Clancy, Administrative Director for Medical Education, and all of our hard working physicians, nurses and physician assistants who contribute to our future physicians’ clinical experiences. By example, our staff at Orange Regional is supporting and teaching our students and residents the art of delivering quality care. Sincerely, Pictured is President & CEO Scott Batulis and Orange County Land Trust Executive Director, Jim Deluane, during the “Preserving Land, Preserving Our Health” benefit reception.

BHU Courtyard Receives Large-scale Mural With the goal of creating a healing environment for patients, Orange Regional commissioned local artist, Joseph Marino, to design and paint a large-scale mural. The mural, measuring 11 feet high by 60 feet long, transforms the courtyard of the hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit from a plain brick outdoor space into a bright, colorful environment conducive to social interaction. The hospital selected the artist for his exceptional proposal and extensive experience painting outdoor murals. Marino is a classically trained painter and professional graphic designer currently living in Monroe, New York. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute of Art and Design with a degree in illustration. For two weeks in June, working in 10 hour daily stretches, Marino handpainted the mural which he designed to visually open up the space and to bring in imagery of life and hope. Christopher Stimpson, program manager in Psychiatry, explained, “We have patients that say they love it and they feel good when they look at it. The mural reminds them that they can be hopeful about achieving their wellness goals." For additional information about Orange Regional’s Art Program, contact Orange Regional’s Art Curator, Sarah Johnson, at 333-2385 or visit www.ormc.org/art.
