STAFF MATTERS

Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers

November/December 2015

September/October 2015

A Message From Our Leader As we reach the season of giving, let’s also reflect upon what has helped to shape our image as a community hospital throughout the year. Undergoing a transformation is a big deal and has necessitated, in some cases, that we change how we do business. With this in mind, we announced additions to our IT leadership, appointed a Clinical Nutrition Manager and Security Manager, Manager of Emergency Management and Safety, Administrator of Nursing Operations and Case Management Services and a Wound Healing Center Program Director. Additionally, we initiated the use of the Vocera Voice and Communication System among its clinical staff to increase workflow and to enhance the quality of care patients receive. The Vocera Badge is a lightweight, Dr. Gerard Galarneau wearable voice-controlled device that enables instant two-way, or group, conversations using intuitive and simple commands. It’s widely used by mobile workers to communicate hands-free in an effort to enhance the CEO & CMO delivery of patient care. Externally, our façade has also changed with upgrades to our parking lot using green technology and to our front lobby entrance. Our capital campaign is in full swing and we were fortunate to receive, to date, $1.3 million to help our ongoing transformation. Within the community, I had the pleasure of joining the panel at the Sullivan Renaissance 2015 Annual Conference – which allowed Sullivan County leaders to discuss positive changes coming to the area and especially to our hospital. As an organization, we participated in the RISE Walk a Miles in Her Shoes event, the Girls & Boys Clubs Celebrity dinner and hosted the annual Heart-A-Thon where more than $80,000 was raised for our cardiopulmonary department. We also honored our first responders throughout Sullivan County for their dedication to protecting the lives and safety of our Sullivan County residents. Our Medical Group continued to make great strides, attracting new physicians. The Group also hosted a healthy eating seminar at its Livingston Manor office where it also cultivated a community garden. As we approach the New Year, more exciting advancements are sure to come our way. It is imperative to remember our “Always” events. Caring. Communication. Cleanliness. Comfort. Coordination. “Always” events are defined as the behaviors that each staff member should take every day while interacting with patients and their families. Please have a wonderful holiday season! I wish each and every one peace, happiness and good health. Sincerely,

Dr. Gerard Galarneau, CEO & CMO
