February 2016

From The President & CEO

Scott Batulis President & CEO

We have accomplished great things over the past several years and we have many more successes ahead. We have been able to grow our organization and raise the bar on the standard of care we provide because we have worked together as a team, sharing the same mission and strategy while working hard at shifting our culture. There is always room for improvement no matter how high we reach. The year ahead will be just as exhilarating as past years. It will require all of us to continue putting our patients and their families first while working hard at accomplishing our goals in 2016.

We will complete construction on our new Cancer Center and Physician Office Building this year. We anticipate relocation of employees and services in late September. The Medical Group will continue to expand by adding additional Primary Care providers and specialists while continuing to focus on developing processes and procedures, enhancing customer services and increasing overall patient volume in 2016. Our Magnet designation is anticipated this year. Our nursing department has worked hard, with the support of the entire organization, to bring us to the point of survey. If attained, we will have earned the highest recognition level for nursing care in the nation. Additionally, we will be surveyed by the Joint Commission this year. Being survey ready must be a daily occurrence. We will work toward achieving Stage 7 Level designation with EPIC, our electronic health record system. Stage 7 hospitals deliver patient care without the use of paper charts; share patient information electronically with other care providers; use a vast database of clinical information to drive enhanced care delivery performance, patient safety clinical decision support, and outcomes using business intelligence solutions; and are best-practice examples of how to implement sophisticated EHR systems. In the coming year, the Foundation will continue fundraising for The Future Is Orange capital campaign to fund our expansion. Your support is greatly appreciated. Additionally, we will increase our telemetry services to include 2 West and to a portion of the ED, complete the system-wide rollout of the Strata system used for budgeting, implement valet parking for patients and visitors, and add an Internal Residency to our Graduate Medical Education offerings. We are continuing the development of strategic plans for key product lines including the Emergency Room to enhance staffing and improve clinical outcomes. We have committed to 24/7 Trauma surgeon coverage and we are working towards a Level II Trauma designation with the anticipation of an American College of Surgeons (ACS) site visit in March 2017. As always, it’s necessary to keep a close eye on expenses and to be actively engaged in delivering a positive patient experience with each and every encounter. These are just a few of the goals for 2016. Thank you for all you’ve done to bring us to this point and for your dedication and commitment moving forward. Sincerely,

Scott Batulis, President & CEO
