October 2016

From The President & CEO This has been an excellent year for our organization filled with many prestigious awards and milestone accomplishments. We should all be very proud of the positive impact we have had on patient care and the broader community. To reach “above and beyond” and to be the best healthcare system we can be, we need to have a work environment and culture that enables people to perform at their very best every day. Scott Batulis President & CEO

Each year at this time we conduct an employee engagement survey to learn from you what we are doing well and how we can do better. Your participation is very important so please take a few minutes and complete your Engagement Survey.

We have again partnered with Gallup to launch our Engagement Survey. You should have received a survey invitation in the mail at your residence. The invitation contains your unique employee code that allows you to participate by phone or online. All survey results are completely confidential. Gallup compiles all surveys and provides us the combined results by department and leader. No one in our organization will know how you answered your survey. Should you have any questions about the survey or if you have not received your unique employee code, please ask your manager or contact Director of Organizational Development, Betsy Kennally, at 333-0227. Thank you in advance for your participation. Sincerely,

Scott Batulis, President & CEO

Free Hospital Valet Parking Orange Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the implementation of free valet parking for all patients and visitors. The service, provided by Orange Regional’s Security Department, is located at the Hospital's Main Entrance and is offered Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., excluding holidays and weekends. “This valet parking service is extremely beneficial and helpful to our patients and visitors,” said Orange Regional Medical Center Director of Security and Emergency Management, Miguel Rodrigues. “With the opening of our new Outpatient Building and Cancer Center, the valet option will most definitely help patients and visitors in and out of our facility in an easy and timely manner.”

Update

October 2016

Where should you go to receive the most appropriate care for your needs? Orange Regional Medical Group Urgent Care is set up to assist its patients, including you, with various injuries or illnesses that, though not life-threatening, require immediate professional medical attention. Though there may still be some wait time, we are better able to prioritize the treatment of our patients based upon the time of their arrival as compared to the emergency room.

Showing Kindness Through Toy Donations Our most sincere gratitude goes to the Ayers Family, who made a very large donation of toys to our Pediatrics Department after their son, Devon, received great care at Orange Regional. During his stay, Devon played with Matchbox cars that were donated to the Hospital. His mother noticed that the unit did not have a lot of other toys for all children receiving care to play with so she and the family purchased some and later donated them to the Hospital.

GHVHS Connects With Jehovah’s Witnesses Community On August 30, members of the GHVHS family were invited to tour and dine at the World Headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Watchtower Farms. Watchtower Farms is a picturesque expanse nestled away in rural Wallkill, NY and is home to over 2,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses. Through the volunteered dedication of the congregation, the farm has grown into a highly selfsufficient complex which includes a printery, thriving fields of agriculture and livestock, a water treatment facility and an infirmary. The GHVHS team was warmly welcomed into the infirmary by Jack Carleton, M.D. and Vern Robinson, hospital liaison for Jehovah’s Witnesses. The infirmary includes primary and specialty care offices, complimentary care offices and an optometry office. X-ray, physical rehabilitation, hospice care and a skilled nursing unit complete the list of available services. This visit provided valuable insight on how the infirmary meets the needs of the farm’s 2,000 occupants and identified areas of potential collaboration. Our collaboration with Jehovah’s Witnesses will allow us to continue to meet the unique needs of the community. -4-
