STAFF MATTERS
Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers
November/December 2016
September/October 2015
A Message From Our Leader The holiday season is when we reflect on all we have to be thankful for, especially as we continue to grow. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, employees and physicians for your continued commitment in going above and beyond for our patients and their families. We receive many words of praise from patients and family members describing all of the wonderful things our staff does to make their visits extraordinary.
Dr. Gerard Galarneau CEO & CMO
In fostering this commitment to the community, the one thing we must always take care of is ourselves. Be a role model for our patients by eating healthy, exercising regularly and getting enough rest. The benefit of taking good care of yourself will have a positive effect on those around you including your family, co-workers and patients. I am thankful that Catskill Regional is stable and strong. We should be grateful to be part of a system that our community can count on when needed. Together we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our patients and our community. Happy holidays to you and your family! Sincerely,
Gerard Galarneau, MD CEO & CMO

and Patient Safety Celebration The Greater Hudson Valley Health System held the 4th Annual Quality and Patient Safety Awards on October 27 at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, NY. This year’s theme was the “TONYS”. The ceremony began with “Memories” from the Broadway show Cats sung by our own Joseph Anesi and accompanied by pianist Scott Batulis. Joseph Anesi then hosted an entertainment-filled evening with live musical performances by Jenny Vosganian-Clancy singing Guys & Dolls and Dr. Ronald Israelski and Gene Bernieri hip-hopping to their original quality rap song. Dr. Carlos Holden and Dr. Anuj Vohra gave tribute to Chicago. The top videos that were created by Orange Regional and Catskill Regional teams were also shared. The highlight of the evening was the opera performance by Dr. Phillip Massengill and his wife, Susan Herrmann, who sang “All I Ask of You” from the Phantom of the Opera. Awards were presented to teams across the System for their outstanding achievements in improving care and patient safety.
