STAFF MATTERS

Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers

November/December 2017

A Message From Our Leader We have had a successful year full of accomplishments, accreditations, awards and many accolades from our patients. The holidays provide us with an opportunity to reflect on our individual roles in those successes, and the times we have each gone “above and beyond” in caring for our patients and community. As we reflect on all of our work caring for our community, I encourage each of us to also take stock of our own personal health. Please take time to care for yourself and your family by eating well, exercising and getting plenty of sleep – the benefits of a healthy lifestyle will be enjoyed by each of us, our families, our patients and our co-workers. Jonathan Schiller Our organization is strong and growing. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your leader, I am proud of the great care we are taking of our community. Happy and safe holidays to all! In service,

Chief Executive Officer

Town of Fallsburg Lions Club Makes Donation At its annual dinner meeting on October 19, Town of Fallsburg Lions Club Members Robert Kaplan, Nathan Steingart and Lions Club President, Steve Vegliante, presented Catskill Regional Medical Center CEO, Jonathan Schiller, with a $3,000 donation to the hospital. The Town of Fallsburg Lions Club is a nonprofit organization that has been a steady supporter of Catskill Regional for more than 15 years. Each year for the past 33 years, the Town of Fallsburg Lions Club has hosted a golf tournament to raise funds for Catskill Regional Medical Center, among other Lions charities. Over that time, the Club has donated close to $100,000 to the hospital. This year, Lions Club International selected “diabetes awareness throughout the world” as its annual project. In keeping with this year’s international project, the Town of Fallsburg Lions Club has specifically donated this year’s funds to the Diabetes Education Center at Catskill Regional.

Eighteen years ago, the Fallsburg Lions Club named their annual golf tournament after Alan Steingart, a long term member of the Club. Members of the Steingart family along with Steve Vegliante and Robert Kaplan, Golf Tournament Chair, gathered to show their support of the Diabetes Education Center at Catskill Regional.

Feel Good Concert Series Program

A big "thank you" to recording artist Lynn Starr for her wonderful performance. We welcomed Lynn to perform for our Skilled Nursing Unit residents, as part of our Feel Good Concert Series Program. She was a hit! Thank you Bev and Frank for filling our lobby with the sound of holiday cheer as part of the feel Good Concert Series Program. Bev and Frank have been singing together for over 20 years as part of the Middletown Carole and perform songs including classical, americana and holiday songs. 7

Garden Work Day On November 4, volunteers trimmed many trees, removed Honeysuckle shrubs, Goldenrod and other weeds, thinned out a number of deciduous shrubs and edged the front of where the Woodland Wildlings Garden meets the lawn. This area was mulched to provide a cleaner mowing edge and while there is certainly much more to do, the group got a great head start. Huge thanks to those that gave their time.
