CONNECTIONS May 2018

An award-winning newsletter for Orange Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers

From The President & CEO Early in May we celebrated Hospital Week and Nurses' Week, taking time to recognize our colleagues for all that they do. It was also a time to recognize a few individuals who have gone “above and beyond” in delivering an exceptional healthcare experience and for their dedication and commitment to our organization. I’m pleased to share that our Medical Staff and Board of Directors honored Dr. Pamela Murphy with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. Anuj Vohra with the 2018 Leadership Award.

Orange Regional Receives Healthgrades 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award For A Second Year

We honored many employees at our annual Employee Service Awards Dinner and extend a special congratulations to Jeanette Carbone-Marsh and Michael Howe as they celebrated 45 years of service. Additionally, we congratulated our 2018 Employee of the Year, Darnell Thomas. Congratulations to Stephanie Bonanno, RN from Radiation Oncology, who made the Top 20 in Hudson Valley Magazine’s 11th Annual Excellence in Nursing Awards. She, along with Kim Dean, RN from Information Technology, and Dawn Hammer, from Diagnostic Imaging, were also nominees this year. Every year, 1199 hosts the New York State Nurse of Distinction Gala. This year we had four of our best nurses honored. Congratulations to the 2018 Orange Regional Nurse of Distinction finalists: Hannah Hirsch, 4 West in the Novice category; Bonnie Jo Graziano, 4 West in the Preceptor category; Robin Sells, 4 South in the Nurse Leader category; and Azucena (Sionnie) LeBlanc, Emergency Department in the Nurse of Distinction category. I’d also like to extended congratulations to our Diagnostic Imaging department for its recent designation as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This makes Orange Regional’s Diagnostic Imaging department the first ACR Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence in Orange County. I’m also proud to announce that on June 11 at 3:00 pm in Conference Rooms 1, 2, & 3, located on the ground floor of the Main Building, we received the 2018 Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades. This recognition puts us in the top 5% nationwide for patient safety. This is our second consecutive year earning this prestigious award. Once again, thank you for all you do! Have a safe and enjoyable summer! Sincerely,

Scott Batulis, President & CEO
