Physicians Recognized for Lifetime Achievement and Leadership Garnet Health Medical Center’s Board of Directors recently honored Ronald Israelski, MD, with the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award and Anjana Poonthota, MD, with the 2020 Leadership Award. The 2020 Annual Physicians Dinner was canceled and in-person meetings were paused due to the pandemic, preventing these awards from being presented last year. However, we did not forget!

Ronald Israelski, MD

Dr. Israelski received the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award for his role in establishing The Bone and Joint Center of Excellence at Garnet Health Medical Center and for his role as Department Chair of Orthopedics, as well as being an active member of Garnet Health Medical Center’s Medical Executive Committee. He was the first Director of Medical Education, a program he worked hard to create, which has resulted in the strong partnership Garnet Health Medical Center has with Touro Medical College today. Dr. Israelski is also a true humanitarian. Following the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010, he began organizing missions in which he ships donated medical supplies and flies several times per year, at his own expense, to operate on the Haitian people in need. Dr. Poonthota received the 2020 Leadership Award for being a continuous advocate for Pediatrics and Women’s Health. As leader of our pediatric hospitalists, she has been instrumental in developing a strong relationship between pediatrics and obstetrics.

Anjana Poonthota, MD

She is also Medical Director and Chair of Pediatrics for Garnet Health, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, a member of the Physician Excellence Committee and Director of Wellness. Thank you to all our dedicated physicians who work so hard to care for our community.

First Responders Show Support with Celebratory Parades Thank you to the first responders and all who participated in the celebratory community drive-by parades for our healthcare heroes at Garnet Health.
