Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers

A Message From Our Leader Our recent visit by DNV surveyors proved excellent as a result of their three day survey.

Surveyors spent one day in Callicoon and a day and a half in Harris, and found that we have a clear commitment to excellence in patient care. We keep an exceptionally clean environment and our values are obvious, specifically Patients and Families First, Honesty, Integrity and Transparency in Action.

Catskill Regional was fully accredited by DNV in August 2018 and is surveyed every year.

Greater Hudson Valley Health System Named One of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies® by Ethisphere for the Second Time.

The Greater Hudson Valley Health System (GHVHS) has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies.

CRMG Opens Fifth Location in Sullivan County

Catskill Regional Medical Group (CRMG) has a new facility, located at 1522 Route 17B in White Lake, New York.

Catskill Regional Medical Group – Bethel, is the fifth location for CRMG which also has offices in Harris, Livingston Manor, Monticello and Callicoon. CRMG has added Dr. Imran Ahmed and his staff from Bethel Medical Family Practice, P.C. to form the new office: “Catskill Regional Medical Group – Bethel”.

Imran Ahmed MD, FAAFP, MPH is an established Family Practice physician with over 30 years of medical experience. He has been caring for the patients in our county for over 20 years at Bethel Family Medical Practice and is now an important addition to Catskill Regional Medical Group.

Dr. Ahmed serves patients of all ages, both in the office and at the Hospital. As a member of the Medical Staff at Catskill Regional Medical Center since 1993, he has served as the Chair of the Credential Committee and Vice President of the Medical Staff. He is currently a Member of the Medical Executive Committee and a Member of the Utilization Management Committee.

Catskill Regional Medical Group – Bethel is comprised of seven medical professionals including Dr. Ahmed and Brynn McKeon, PA-C. They provide services at the office on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For an appointment call (845) 583-5620.

GHVHS News Fred Conklin has assumed the role of GHVHS Director of Medical Staff Services.

Fred has been a valued leader in the Quality Department for many years. He has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years with clinical experience in the MedicalSurgical, PCU, ICU and ED settings. He joined the organization in May 2006 as the Quality Clinical Project Coordinator. Fred was promoted to the Director of Quality at the Catskill Regional Medical Center campus in 2012 and to the GHVHS Director of Quality in November 2014. Fred has helped to enhance performance improvement and patient safety programs across the System. In his new role, Fred will provide leadership for the system-wide Medical Staff Department operations at both Orange Regional and Catskill Regional Medical Centers. Mary Kate Revella has been promoted to GHVHS Director of Cardiology Services. Mary Kate joined Orange Regional Medical Center in 2010 as a Registered Nurse on the Progressive Care Unit and transitioned to a leadership role in 2013 as Supervisor of Central Monitoring. As Director of Cardiology Services, Mary Kate will continue to oversee all aspects of Cardiology at ORMC as well as support, build and oversee cardiology services at Catskill Regional Medical Center. 41st Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon Raises more than $121,000 On February 22, the 41st Annual 98.3 WSUL Heart-A-Thon was held in Catskill Regional’s Woodland Garden Café and was broadcast live on WSUL, 98.3/95.7 FM. Pledges were read aloud on the air.

The event, which was presented by the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association, raised more than $121,000. All proceeds will help with the purchase of a TeleRehab™ system, an advanced cardiopulmonary rehabilitation telemetry system by VersaCare. Thank you to all who donated either their time or money to help our cause.

March was National Nutrition Month National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign we celebrated in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focused on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. In addition, National Nutrition Month® promotes the Academy and its members to the public and the media as the most valuable and credible source of timely, scientificallybased food and nutrition information.

Did you know that leafy greens are a great source of several nutrients including iron, calcium, vitamins A, K and C, fiber, potassium and folate? This month, employees and visitors can try them in several recipes at the Woodland Garden Café.

Board certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in the assurance of high standards of care for patients and their loved ones. Catskill Regional Medical Center and Catskill Regional Medical Group encourage national Board certification for all our nurses.
