STAFF MATTERS
Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers
May/June 2019
A Message From Our Leader
Jonathan Schiller
There’s a lot happening at Catskill Regional Medical Center, so it’s a great time to reflect upon our accomplishments. This summer, visitors to Catskill Regional will notice our continued, significant and positive changes, including physical renovations and the expansion of the emergency room at Grover M. Hermann Hospital, as well as national recognitions and community outreach.
The plans at Grover M. Hermann Hospital include the addition of several new rooms within the emergency department, along with new heating, ventilation and air conditioning, enhanced lighting and security, new flooring and new medical equipment. All of this will further enhance the patient experience, without any major disruptions to emergency services during construction. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and main lobby signage has been put up to direct patients and visitors to the emergency room location. The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association have recognized Catskill Regional with the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke GOLD Plus with Honor Roll Elite Achievement Award. This means that our Hospital has seen continued success using Get With The Guidelines® Stroke programs, which include providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment to improve patient care outcomes. Congratulations, to everyone dedicated to this effort.
Grover M. Hermann Hospital has been named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in the country for Quality and Patient Satisfaction. This is the fifth time that our Hospital has received these designations from the National Rural Health Association. Keep up the good work! As for community outreach, Catskill Regional and Orange Regional Medical Groups are offering a Measles Prevention Program to provide those concerned with the straight facts about measles. Medical Group staff are available to review patients’ medical histories – including vaccination records – to see if a previous MMR vaccination is still effective. If needed, they will administer vaccinations or boosters. The program is for adults, age 18+. Those who believe they are experiencing symptoms of measles, are asked to contact their primary care physicians or go to the emergency room. All employees of GHVHS Medical Group and GHVHS who are "well and worried", please contact employee health to review your concerns. As our population increases and we see more patients during these warmer months, I thank you in advance for your commitment to providing quality healthcare to our community. Be proud of our advancements, and continue to do your part toward our continuous enhancements. Sincerely,
Jonathan Schiller, CEO

Dove Unveiling
Thank You to Our EMS Responders
We were so excited to unveil Catskill Regional’s Dove on May 23 as a part of the Sullivan County Dove Trail to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock Festival! Thank you to the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association for this initiative, and for letting us be a part of this groovy project! And, a very special thanks to the artist who created our psychedelic dove, Jennifer Bull!
As part of EMS Week in May, Catskill Regional Medical Center dedicated a special room with comfy chairs, a fridge, whiteboard, lamps and snacks for our EMS affiliates to use when they are in need of a break and/or to complete paperwork. A well-deserved retreat for the brave, skilled women and men on our EMS team. 4
