From The President & CEO It is with great pleasure that I share with you that the Greater Hudson Valley Health System has been named one of the 2018 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices. 135 companies, spanning 23 countries and 57 industries were granted this honor. The Scott Batulis President & CEO GHVHS is one of only seven non-profit healthcare providers, in the world, to achieve this recognition. Ethics are about moral judgements; the decision about choosing what’s right over what’s wrong. Ethical behavior and social responsibility have great benefits. When we do the right thing each and every time, we build trust with our coworkers, physicians, patients and our community. Trust enhances reputation, one of our most important assets. Reputation attracts patients and great talent. Increases in patient volume and the retention of skilled talent provides further growth so we can continue to provide needed services to our community. I am extremely proud of this honor and each member of our hospital family should be, too! Thank you for helping the GHVHS attain this recognition. Each year we ask employees to help us gauge how well we’re doing to collectively to improve Orange Regional as an excellent place to work. Recently, we invited all employees to participate in the annual employee engagement survey. I am pleased to report that 79% of employees chose to participate in the survey this year, a record number for us. With many more of you giving us your feedback, our Grand Mean, which is the average score on a 5 point scale across all of the 12 questions on the survey, stayed the same as last year at 4.09. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Leaders have received your team’s scorecard and will share it with you in the near future. As in past years, each department will work together on celebrating their team’s strengths, as well as putting a plan in place on an action item of their choosing. In the meantime, please consider your own engagement. There are many continuing and new initiatives within the hospital for you to become involved in. Think about what you can do to make a positive difference in your unit or department in 2018. We want you to be challenged, engaged and to make a difference!

GHVHS is one of only seven honorees in the nonprofit healthcare providers industry, underscoring a commitment to leading with integrity and prioritizing ethical business practices. In 2018, 135 honorees were recognized, spanning 24 countries and 57 industries. The honorees had record levels of involvement with their stakeholders and their communities around the world. Measuring and improving culture, leading authentically and committing to transparency, diversity and inclusion were all priorities for honorees. The World's Most Ethical Companies assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient ® (EQ) framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized manner.
