“Sister is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship." -Margaret Mead
ABOUT ME My name is Daniela Galvan, I’m from Bogota Colombia. I have a “twin”/ parter in crime A.K.A younger sister with whom I share an equal appreciation of art. She is the musician and im the designer. Since I was young I maintained a keen interest in different types of art, as photography, assemblage, graphic and video, but mostly I liked drawing and painting. The concept of creating something out of imagination or previous experience has always amazed me, and to be able to use everything learned to create an habitable space is what I strive for. Hobbies & Interests: -Traveling -Photography -Biking -Arts & Crafts -Cooking -Skating -Swimming -Kayaking -Music -Snorkeling/ Scuba

COLOR + DESIGNERS
The chapel is sited to form a new campus
quadrangle green space to the north, the west, and in the future, to the east.
The elongated rectangular plan is especially
suited to defining campus space as well as the processional and gathering space within. Directly to the south of the chapel is a reflecting pond.
The concept of the chapel reflects St. Ignatius'
vision of the spiritual life: it is composed of both interior lights and darknesses, which he called "consolations and desolations."
Recognition
Holl's plan for the Chapel of St. Ignatius won a design award from the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the scale model of the chapel has been selected to become part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The
Building
His architectural ideas begin with exquisite, abstract watercolor sketches, and describes this church as a stone vessel holding seven liturgical “bottles of light It is all that and more.
The chapel's exterior is relatively plain,
the Colors Steven Hall uses for the facade and most of the church are very
earthy colors, He choses a very
small same tone palate. The wall color is intended to resemble the stone used in the churches of Rome
Eventhough the variety of color is not so extreme, it still has an impact
letting the viewer admire and focus on the form of the building.
Doors made of Alaskan yellow
cedar with reddened bronze accents
In the northwest corner is the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, an intimate space bathed in soft orange light. The white walls are coated in beeswax and decorated with gold-leaf prayers of Catholic
saints. The focal point of the furnishings is a living Madrona tree that reaches upward to the light, symbolizing the struggle of life.
The colors he embodies in the
inside are made from natural light. Eventhough the inside is a pale
white the lighting gives it a warm effect. Interior lighting will create a similar effect at night
The chapel transforms into a beacon of multicolored light radiating outward to the campus and city. Steven Holl’s chapel is a beautiful simple creation
being brought to life on a daily basis with a change of color depending on the time of day and season. You could say that you almost never get the same shades twice. Every minute is unique.

COLOR + PSYCHOLOGY
FILM SUMMARY "Interstellar" is the story of Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a farmer in Earth's future. He isn't a farmer by trade, but rather out of necessity, as in this film's future Earth is perilously close to running out of food, and thus all workers (starting even in the school system) are assigned an occupation based on needs rather than wants. At heart, Cooper is an engineer who loves tinkering with things and dreams of "something bigger" than the dust-patch he currently resides on. One day, through a chance series of events, Cooper is introduced to Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a fellow dreamer who has concocted a scheme to leave Earth and settle on a new home. The catch? A trip through an intergalactic wormhole is required, which hasn't ever quite been done successfully. So, saddling up with Brand (Anne Hathaway), the professor's daughter, Coop volunteers for the mission, leaving behind his two children, Murph (Mackenzie Foy) and Tom (Timothee Chalamet), to await his promised return.
THIS FIRST SCENE USES A COLOR PALETTE THAT REPRESENTS WHAT EARTH IS GOING THROUGH. IT MAKES A CLEAR STATEMENT THAT EARTH IS DECAYING AND GLOOMY.
WHEN THEY MAKE IT TO THE SECOND PLANET, I REALLY LIKED THIS SCENCE BEACUSE THE COLOR PALETTE IS NOT THAT BIG BUT IT STILL CONVEYS AN EMOTION, OF PURITY AND SIMPLICITY OF SOMETHING UNTOUCHED.
in this scene we see a green palette a more vibrant color, representing renewal, and clean. as wee see the crops are full of life and not dull as they were at the beginning of the movie because of the dust killing them.

COLOR + EMPHASIS
CONTRAST OF VALUE
Light VS. Dark. A light/ dark contrast of black and white values emphasizes the space without the use of colored hues. In this particular store they use the white strings and other elements like one tone plants to showcase the light vs. dark elements. In one side we see how the black stands out from the whites and on the other how the more beige colors stand our from the dark green plants.
CONTRAST OF A DESIGN FEATURE
These are focal points that can be achieved by isolation or placing, by highlight with contrast of shape, size, or Color that differs from its surrounding. Or by implementing directional movement that leads the eye toward the element to be emphasized. In this store we can see that they use the hanging white strips to emphasize the latest clothing trend (according to the visual manager). They place the newest collection where the strips are because those are the elements that catches a persons eye.
CONTRAST OF TEXTURE Using color and texture contrasts (smooth vs. rough) can add emphasis. In this particular store they use a lot of texture contrast in the stings mentioned before, but this space really caught my attention because you walk in and it has the smooth texture of the curtain and then they catch your attention to the rough installation placed in the center, I think this is the best example of how smooth and rough, two different textures can be placed near to each other and work in perfect harmony.
FOCAL POINT This store counts with various focal points, from the strips in strategic points throughout the store to the back room, which is more formal dresses. Each space counts on it focal point and their method of attraction of the client.
CONTRAST OF VALUE
Contrast of value, a light/ dark contrast of black and white values emphasizes the space with the minimal use of colored hues. The light color details of white thread coming down from the ceiling emphasize the dark color clothing.

COLOR + RENDERING
D O M I N A N T:
The dominant color acts as a canvas for the rest to dance amongst the space. Although not a true neutral, it is a tint allowing it this ability to compliment the rest of the palette.
SECONDARY:
The secondary color is another tint that adds a pop of color to where the eyes want to be drawn to. Like the earth tone of the ceramic vase.
TERTIARY:
The tertiary color is the tone from the same family of the dominant color acting as a perfect compliment to this dominant color. This is were we get a lighter shade of the dominant color as a complement.
ACCENT1:
The first accent is a tint that compliments our secondary color and draws the eye to the items in this color. The aqua blue does a great example of this
ACCENT2:
The second accent is applied to the other vase in conjunction with the secondary color to add a visually strong focal point in the picture, amongst the other colors. The COLORS chosen, are colors that are well blended with each other. The selected color palette is relaxing. This particular color palette focuses mainly on shades and tones rather than tints and hues. ALTHOUGH there are neutrals used, one color acts as the dominant so that the other colors can all play well together.

COLOR PALLETE: EARTH TONES
BRAND “GREAT PLACES ARE DEFINED BY THEIR MOMENTS OF UNDISTURBED NATURE. INCREDIBLE LOCATIONS WHERE WE BUILD CITIES JUST TO STAY A LITTLE LONGER. FOR US, NATURE MAKES THE PLACE. IT’S WHAT WE REMEMBER WHEREVER WE GO. THE ONE THING THAT DRAWS US TOGETHER, DEFINING HOW WE BUILD AND INTERACT. WE FEEL BOTH CALM AND EXCITEMENT IN ITS PRESENCE. PROVIDING THE SPACE TO BE ALONE, BUT ALSO TO GATHER. WE DON’T NECESSARILY NOTICE NATURE’S PRESENCE, BUT WE CAN ALWAYS FEEL ITS ABSENCE. THESE FACTORS BROUGHT US TO CREATE A NEW WAY TO DEVELOP A PLACE THAT FEELS LIKE HOME. BRINGING IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD WITH NON-ARTIFICIAL TEXTURES, MATERIALS AND WAYS OF DOING BUSINESS. CREATING A PLACE WHERE THE SURROUNDING WORLD SEAMLESSLY FLOWS INTO THE LOBBY AND DOWN THE HALLWAYS. AT 1 HOTEL & HOMES WE SEEK TO UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEOPLE AND A PLACE AND MAKE IT THE GUIDING FORCE OF EVERYTHING WE DO. 1 IS THE NATURE OF A PLACE.”
INSPIRED BY THE BEACH FRONT, THEY BROUGHT LIFE INTO EVERY CORNER. THEY USED SUSTAINABLE AND LOW IMPACT MATERIALS EVERYWHERE THEY COULD. EXTENDING WINDOWS TO BRING FULL VIEWS OF THE SEA. PEELING BACK PAVEMENT FOR POOLS AND OUTDOOR SPACES. REPLACING SYNTHETIC WITH NATURAL ELEMENTS THROUGHOUT. IN THE END, A PIECE OF SOUTH BEACH’S PAST WAS TRANSFORMED INTO A SHINING EXAMPLE OF ITS FUTURE. THE MATERIALS USED AND THE ENVIRONMENT CREATED IS VERY RELAXED, THE SMELL TRANSPORTS YOU TO A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE.
RESIDENCE LOBBY
NOT LIKE THE RESIDENTIAL LOBBY WERE THERE IS ONE COLOR WITH DIFFERENT SHADES. THE HOTEL LOBBY HAS DIFFERENT TONES BUT THEY ALL FALL UNDER THE SIMPLE COLOR PALLETE. THE LOBBY LOUNGE FEELS ALIVE WITH FANTASTIC NATURAL SMELLS, LUSH PLANTS, UNIQUE TERRARIUMS AND LIVING GREEN WALLS. THE SPIRIT OF THE SPACE IS PERFECT FOR ANY ACTIVITY — SITTING AND READING A BOOK, ENJOYING THE NATURAL TEXTURES, COLORS AND SHAPES ON DISPLAY, OR DELIGHTING IN GREAT FOOD AND DRINK.

THE LINES IN THE CELING OF THE RESIDENT LOBBY COMMUNICATES AN ACTION, LIKE THE ARROWS IN A ROAD SIGN. THE HORIZONTAL LINES CREATE MOVEMENT FROM SIDE TO SIDE, IT ALSO LEADS THE EE ACROSS AN OBJECT AND EMPHASIZE WIDTH.

PATTERN CAN BE DESCRIBED AS A REPEATING UNIT OF SHAPE OR FORM, BUT IT CAN ALSO BE THOUGHT OF AS THE "SKELETON" THAT ORGANIZES THE PARTS OF A COMPOSITION. THROUGH THE REPETITIVE ARRANGEMENT OF WOOD IN A HORIZONTAL SEQUENCE, THERE IS A PATTERN THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL LOBBY. DIFFERENT COLORS AND SIZES OF WOOD OFFER VARIETY WITHIN THE REPETITION BUT STILL KEEP THE CONSITENCYOF THE SMOOTH AND NATURAL FEEL THROUGH MATERIAL AND COLORS CHOSEN.

LINES LINES
CAN BE USED TO COMMUNICATE ACTIONS, MOVEMENT ETC.
THE
WAY IN WHICH LINES ARE UTILIZED AND COMBINED WITH A COLOR CAN DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE INTERIOR SPACE.
WITHOUT
LINE,
NO OTHER PART OF A COMPOSITION COULD HAPPEN.
THE
HUES USED FOR THE LINES IN THE
AUTODESK
OFFICE
(YELLOW,
ORANGE) HAVE A REPRESENTATION OF STRENGTH AND POWER.
ALSO THE WAY THE LINES ARE PLACED, IT GIVES A SUBTLE MOVEMENT TO THE SPACE, MAKING THE VIEWER’S EYE MOVE THROUGHOUT THE SPACE ENJOYING THE DETAIL QUALITY.
TEXTURE + FOCAL POINT TEXTURE IS THE CHARACTERISTIC VISUAL AND TACTILE QUALITY OF THE SURFACE OF A MATERIAL RESULTING FROM THE WAY IN WHICH THE MATERIALS ARE CONSTRUCTED OR COMBINED TOGETHER. TEXTURE IS THE ASPECT OF HARMONY THAT RELATES TO THE SENSE OF TOUCH. THIS SENSE CAN BE SIMULATED EITHER PHYSICALLY OR VISUALLY. IN THE AUTODESK OFFICE “LOUNGE” AREA WE COULD SEE THE USE OF TEXTURE ON THE BACK WALL GIVING THE SPACE A SENSE OF UNITY, AND THAT FINISHING TOUCH THAT MAKES THE SPACE HARMONIOUS WITH THE CONTRAST OF A ROUGH TEXTURE. A FOCAL POINT IS A SINGLE DESIGN ELEMENT THAT RECEIVES THE GREATEST VISUAL EMPHASIS TO THE ROOM. THEY USED FOCAL POINTS OF COLOR TO GIVE THE EYES A PLACE FOR CONTEMPLATION. VISITORS ARE USUALLY ATTRACTED TO WALK TOWARD THE FOCAL POINT.
SHAPE + PATTERN PATTERN IS CREATED WHEN SHAPE AND COLOR IS REPEATED IN AN ARRANGED MANNER. THE REPETITIVE PATTERN ON THE GLASS WALLS AS WELL AS THE HEXAGONS ON THE CEILING REPRESENT A FLUID MOVEMENT AND THEIR DIFFERENT SIZES ADD RHYTHM AND MOVEMENT TO THE DESIGN. SHAPE RESULTS FROM TWO OR MORE LINES COMING TOGETHER TO FORM A TWO DIMENSIONAL IMAGE. THE DECISION OF LEAVING THE BEAMS TO BE SEEN IS A DESIGN MOVE SINCE IT CREATES A PLEASANT SHAPE THAT THE VISITOR CAN ENJOY.

COLOR + CULTURE
COLOMBIA Colombia's history reads like a romance, a drama and a bad action movie all rolled into one. The country's history is saddening, complex and vastly interesting. Colombia is the only overland gateway to South America and is assumed to have been the route pioneered by the continent's first human inhabitants, who migrated from North and Central America. Some tribes, such as the Inca, headed further south and built major civilizations, while smaller groups settled in what is now Colombia and eventually reached a high level of development. There are three main archeological sites in Colombia. They are San AgustĂn, Tierradentro and Ciudad Perdida. Some communities left behind artifacts - mainly gold and pottery - some of which are now in museums across the country. This art reveals a high degree of skill, and the goldwork is the continent's best, both in techniques and artistic design. BRAZIL
Brazil was officially "discovered" in 1500, when a fleet commanded by Portuguese diplomat Pedro Ă lvares Cabral, on its way to India, landed in Porto Seguro, between Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. Since then, however, its history has been turbulent, blighted by rebellion, cruelty, dictatorship and poverty. But, it is also a vibrant, exciting and ethnically diverse nation that has, in the face of great adversity, emerged as one of the world's fastest growing major economies. Slaves were imported from Africa to work the fields. Brazil continued to expand through wars and battles. The Portuguese defeated the French to take Rio de Janeiro and also took over several Dutch and British outposts. Soon Brazil was one of the largest territories in the world. Today it is the 5th largest country in the world. Total Size: 8,511,965 square km Climate: mostly tropical, but temperate in south Major Cities: Sao Paulo 19.96 million; Rio de Janeiro 11.836 million; Belo Horizonte 5.736 million; Porto Alegre 4.034 million; BRASILIA (capital) 3.789 million Languages Spoken: Portuguese (official), Spanish, English, French Independence: 7 September 1822 (from Portugal)
Two different places, two different cultures, two different histories. The only similarities are that they are full of hope, full of life and full of people that proudfully showcase were they came from.
