We are so excited to share with you this catalog filled with new releases and seasonal resources including the announcement of Tony Alonso's new project—Blessed Be God.
This new collection offers acclamations, hymns, and chants for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). With songs corresponding to Appendix II of the new translation of the OCIA, which offers USCCB-approved texts for use throughout the OCIA process, this is the resource you have been waiting for!

Acclamations, Hymns and Chants for the OCIA

Blessed Be God: Acclamations, Hymns and Chants for the OCIA offers 26 inspiring and accessible songs for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). These short acclamations in a variety of forms—including-call-and-response, ostinato refrains, and chants—can be used in a range of celebrations as parishes accompany people on their journey of faith before, during, and after their full initiation into the Catholic Church.
Most of the songs are composed for SAB voicing, though all can be sung unison and unaccompanied. The title song is a joyful acclamation that will become a refrain to which you’ll want to return throughout the year, especially for the dismissal of the catechumens and a baptismal response. Songs like “All of You are One” and “God is Light” are simple enough to be sung in small group gatherings and liturgies, while “Rejoice You Newly Baptized” and “You are God’s Work of Art” will find a home in your Easter Vigil and baptismal liturgies throughout the year.

Trilogy for Easter was inspired by an earlier independent piece, Fantasia: The Resurrection published in the collection King of Kings: Organ Music of Black Composers, Past and Present—Volume 4. It eventually grew into a three-movement composition.
“Fanfare: Triumphant Entry” begins with a trumpet blast representing the heralding of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, accompanied by the cries of “hallelujah” and “hosanna” from the crowd that showered his path with palm branches.
“Soliloquy: From Gethsemane to the Tomb” is a slow piece that uses quartal/quintal harmony, constant harmonic shifts, modal melodies, and scale passages in the pedal that represent the walk from site to site.
“Toccata: The Resurrection” is a tonal piece. The first four notes in the pedal reference the first four notes of the “Fanfare,” and are developed into a melody that is repeated several times throughout the piece.

Psalm 23 For Organ

Psalm 23 is a three-part piece though each section can be played separately, if desired. The first section, “The Pastorale,” creates the impression of a calm lake in a peaceful green valley by using slow-moving chromatic mediants, meandering harmonies, and descending hexatonic scales. The second section, “The Valley of the Shadow of Death,” ensues with an ominous feeling created by a one-note ostinato in the pedal, an ascending hexatonic scale, fully diminished seventh chords, exploitation of the theme via superimposed major and augmented triads, and a split-third chord that brings that section to its climax. The final section, “Dwelling in the House of the Lord,” bursts into a toccata with the theme in the pedal, and is interspersed with an omnibus. The piece ends with a final statement of the motive in the pedal.

Song of the Spirit Mass features a driving, rhythmic piano part. However, to accommodate a range of contexts, also includes an alternate accompaniment with more intentional melodic support that is suitable for organ. Optional instrumental parts are intended for trumpet and flute but may be played by any combination of C or B-flat treble instruments.
