y should a Vietnamese come to China?
Though Vietnam and China share the same border and various cultural traditions in common, our people often hold different assumptions about each other, which hinders us from opening up to share and learn. Over the past few years, our young Vietnamese students who went on exchange program in China have reported a incredibly fulfilling experience which doesn’t only break their assumptions but also touch their hearts and create lasting friendships that go on for life time. The reality The current education system in China is heavily examination oriented, which make most students bored/exhausted of having class without understanding the joy of learning and discovering. At the same time, in less-developed areas, a lot of students lack of advanced English education, dreams and knowledge of globalization. We all know the importance of a long-term dream and life-whole learning. But they don’t even know what is dream and what they can dream about.
Dare to Dream
How we help Founded in 2008, Dare to Dream is the largest national project of AIESEC in Mainland of China. In 2013-2014, 26 local chapters hosted Dare to Dream summer camps or winter camps. The project is aimed at improving English communication capacity of Chinese students, while raising our awareness about education issues in mainland of China. Beyond that, Dare to Dream is also about children and dreaming, where interns create activities for students that inspire their dreams, which in turn change them into more caring, responsible and encouraging people.
What’s my job in the project? As Dare to Dream is run by various AIESEC local chapter in mainland of China, the detail intern’s job description will vary based on customization of each AIESEC local chapter. However, here are some popular activities that usually take place in Dare to Dream
Teamwork You will have to work with other interns and AIESEC members to design the course content for these students
Dare to Dream Camp You wll run a camp to deliver English lessons or activities for students from Junior High School or Primary School
Dare to Dream
Global Village You will represent your country to share your culture in Global Village (you are advised to bring specialties/tradition costumes/souvenirs from your country)
Charity Sales A cooperative event with another organization, in which you are expected to bring some gadgets or something you made with your students during the camp to sell. Students are going to promote the things you bring or you made to practice their independence and communication The money which we get we are going to donate to the poor schools.
