Minister Feetham hosts exclusive Private Client Breakfast and Funds Lunch at the Royal Automobile Club in London The Hon Nigel Feetham KC, Gibraltar’s minister with responsibility for financial services, welcomed esteemed guests to the prestigious Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall on Wednesday 25th October 2023. The event marked the fourth and fifth instalments of a 3-day series of financial services across central London. Private Client Breakfast Minister Feetham set the tone for the Private Client Breakfast with an introducing speech, emphasising the need for the responsible development of the private client sector. He highlighted Gibraltar's diverse banking options and expressed a desire to grow Gibraltar’s offering for digital banks. Additionally, breaking with the tradition of thanking the team at the last event, he acknowledged the hard work of the Gibraltar Finance team. The panel was introduced by John Paul Fa who highlighted some of the local and international philanthropic initiatives that had been launched from Gibraltar and enabled by Gibraltar’s trust and foundations legislation. Tom Burroughes, the editor of WealthBriefing, a private client and wealth asset management publication, moderated the panel comprising acclaimed author Peter Leach, KPMG’s Jo Bateson and Philanthropy Impact’s CEO, John Pepin. The panel saw a fascinating discussion around research and trends involving the philanthropic trends of ultra-high net worth individuals and the need for collaboration and awareness raising by advisors. Funds Lunch The afternoon’s Funds Lunch saw the final introductory speech by Minister Feetham, outlining some of the more recent developments in the Gibraltar funds industry and once again, the close working relationship between Government, industry and regulator, and highlighting the hard work of the Gibraltar Finance team. The lunch was follows by two short panel discussions. The first featured Diala Minott, Co-Chair of Paul Hastings Private Capital and Investment practice and Brendan Gallen, Partner at Reed Smith, two individuals recognised by the Legal 500. Their panel was moderated by John Paul Fa and touched on the decision making process undertaken when structuring funds, and trends around non-direct lending and ESG. The second panel was a fireside chat between Alastair Crabbe, the editor at The Alternative Investor publication, and James Stewart, a leading Tax Partner at PwC. tokenisation, where the opportunity for these funds to be structured through Gibraltar was highlighted in depth. The events drew to a close the highly successful Gibraltar Day in London 2023 events that saw more than 1,000 attend 5 events in 3 days. Feedback from attendees has been highly positive.
