| Description of the Solar Principle
I. Power generating principle of solar wafers: Solar cells are created using the manufacturing process of semiconductors. They are photonic components capable of transferring energy. In other words, the power generating principle of solar photonics utilises solar cells to absorb sunlight between the wavelengths of 0.4Οm~ 1.1Οm (particularly for silicon wafers), which then transfer solar energy directly into power, the power generated is direct current.

Without recharging the batteries, you can still use the solar panel to supply 4.5V 130mA of electricity to the motor and work the models directly. The motor efficiency rises approximately 1.5 times when not charging batteries. There are 3 operating positions shown in the table below.
There are 3 modes as the table shows below. All of them with charge function but the efficiency depends on different loads. Mode 2 has the best efficiency because it has no load except to supply electricity from the solar panel to the rechargeable batteries. The efficiency for modes 1 and 3 is a little lower than mode 2, this is due to supplying electricity to the motor.

How to Use the Sun Collector | Solar Master How to Use the Sun Collector : Scenario: Scenario – Overcast, Rainy Day or Indoors :
Scenario: Scenario - Slightly Cloudy or Weak Sunlight during Winter : The sun collector can be used to increase the sunlight for the solar panel and raise the electrical power supply.
Where solar energy is not available, the power stored in the rechargeable batteries will immediately kick in, providing you with green solar energy anytime, anywhere. You may also dismantle the solar panel at anytime and use the general batteries instead to drive the motor (Attention! Dismantle the solar panel before using the general batteries, see the illustration below). You may even remove the AA rechargeable batteries to be used with other products!
1.For the best position, move and adjust the sun collector to reflect sunlight onto the solar panel. 2.If it’s not easy to find the condensing area of the sunlight reflected by the sun collector, use a white piece of paper to put on the solar panel and adjust the sun collector to aim at it (see illustration below). 3.You can set up the 2 simple models below to compare the difference between 1 sun collector and 2 sun collectors (you can also learn from the 2 different set ups). Attention!
1.Do not use the sun collector on a sunny day without any clouds. (it must be cloudy). 2.Use the sun collector under adult supervision. Reflected sunlight or other light from the sun collector may cause serious injury to the eyes and body. Use with caution.

| About GIGO Gears
Gears of SOLAR MASTER contain “Spur Gears” (gear wheel to gear wheel) meshing in the same plane and regulating speed or direction of turning of the shafts and “Bevel Gears” (the rounded off sections on one edge of your gears in the set) meshed together to change direction at right angles to the initial turning plane of the gears and shafts (axles).
DID YOU KNOW ? C is called an idle gear. It connects two other gears together but does not actually drive anything itself.
B A
C
1.Try putting a red 20-tooth gear in mesh with two yellow 60-tooth gears.Turn A. Does B turn faster, slower or at the same speed as A? If you turn A clockwise, which way does B turn? Do you think it would make any difference to A or B if you put a larger idle gear inbetween them? Try it. Did you notice any difference?
2.Connect 4 small gears in a row along one edge of a base grid. What do you notice about the direction in which they turn?
12
3.Assemble two yellow 60-tooth gears and a blue 40-tooth gear as shown. Can you explan why the gears will not turn?
About GIGO Gears | Solar Master C C C 1. The power transmission of chain gears depends on chains instead of meshing each other. The teeth of chain gears must go with chains. The “working diameters of the chain gears are about 10mm (10-tooth), 20mm (20-tooth) and 30mm (30-tooth). Try to ensure that when connecting drive chains they are neither too tight nor too loose so that the motion of one is transmitted efficiently to the other. If the lengths cannot exactly fit the distance a little looser will work better than a little tighter, only that the drive chains come off the chain gears. This system can be found in normal bikes or escalators. 2. Connect a 10-tooth chain gear to a 30-tooth chain gear as shown.
A
B
5. Try chaining a 10-tooth chain gear and two 30-tooth chain gears together. Turn A clockwise. What happens to B and C? Do they turn in the same direction? Do they turn at the same speed? 6. Try to chain the 10-tooth chain gear C as shown. Turn A clockwise. What happens to B and C? Do they turn in the same direction? Do they turn at the same speed?
A A A
A A A
B B B C C C
B B B
7. By connecting two sets of chain gears together three speeds can be obtained.
3. Use a pencil point, or something similar, to turn B. Which way does A turn?
This system is widely used in transmission bikes by adding a gear shift in between.
Would this be the same if A and B were two gears in mesh? How many times would you have to turn A for B to rotate once? The gear ratio of these two chain gears would be _ to _ ? 4. Repeat the experiment for the two other arrangements and make a table of your results for all three.

| Tips and Tricks for Model Building
1.Both peg and axle connector can be used to join rods and frames. (Fig. 1-1)
4.When fixing a gear or a tire onto the framework with a drive axle, be sure to keep a gap of about 1mm between the gear or the tire and the framework to decrease the friction caused in operation so that a smooth motion can be expected. (Fig. 3)
But only an axle connector can make the rod turn on the frame after being joined. (Fig. 1-2)
5.Try to ensure that when connecting drive chains they are neither too tight nor too slack so that the motion of one is transmitted efficiently to the other. If the lengths cannot exactly fit the distance, a little looser will work better than a little tighter.
2.Use a L Dr. Axle to push the Axle Connector out of the rod. (Fig. 1-3) PEG
