T

hrough our planning process, our project team managed the renegeration of polluted

river. One of the biggest challenge was to integrate all remediation studies of the site and infrastructures required to implement such ambitious concept of bio-remediation. The project is designed with bio-swales and other mechanisms to achieve the goal of rainwater recycling. The master plan also integrates a city-wide cycling trail and a green transportation system that links public spaces across the towns of Qian Hai Shenzhen and Hong Kong island.

The design is inspired by the Chinese calligraphy. The dialog between softscape and hardscape represent the brush bringing ink onto the texture of paper. The design metaphor translates Chinese calligraphy into physical movements and landscape elements to blend this public realm with existing activities and context.

Our design took an energy-efficient and human-oriented approach; all of the existing trees within the site were retained in healthy condition. The Greenbelt rearranges the existing green space into a leaf vein like ecological network, providing a more spacious and comfortable city green lung to citizens and tourists alike. It also draws visitors of the key nodes together and accelerates the tourism as well as economic development of the region. Upon completion of construction, the Calligraphy Greenway successfully reorganized the adjacent urban fabric and communities and increased their land value by more than 20%

process, our project team managed to retain all of the existing trees within the site in healthy condition. One of the biggest challenges was how to create a continuous space meandering through 4 rows of trees within a 30 meter wide corridor. The project is designed with bio-swales and other mechanisms to achieve the goal of rainwater recycling. The master plan also integrates a city-wide cycling trail and a green transportation system that links public spaces across the city
