Meet the Designer

Suzanne Maria Rennie Known as Suzie to her friends, Suzanne Maria Rennie is an upcoming designer currently based in Southampton. Originally from Chorleywood in Hertfordshire, Suzie is a down to earth girl with Christian values and a strong work ethic. Suzie has followed fashion throughout her life; with an emphases on design. This lead to her attendance at Southampton Solent University to study Ba Fashion Design; where she has extended and defined her skills. While at University Suzie worked on a live brief for Ted Baker. Her design was chosen as one of seven designers to be presented at Ted Baker’s head office in London. This was a huge honour for Suzie as she faced competition from fifty other designers at her university alone. Suzie’s graduate collection showcases her interests and beliefs along with strong elements of structure and tayloring. ‘Who Am I’ outlines the brands direction and values; making it the perfect opening debut.

Who Am I? Limited Edition

Nature and religion has truly inspired the ‘Who Am I?’ collection from Suzanne Maria and transported the sophisticated woman into a microcosm of structured elegance. Thematic elements are both pronounced and distorted from the underlying motif of nature and religion from Suzie’s own perspective, with a combination of neutral colours and luxurious fabrics creating sleek silhouettes and unexpected forms. Soft tones of brown and grey streamline the female form while representing the natural palette of nature. This, coupled with the use of leather and hop-sack, emphasises the beauty of natural materials creating a timeless and refined image for the collection. Injections of print transport one’s mind into the wilderness while texture and shredded fabric replicate the ever changing environment of the world we live in. The soft lines of a dove’s wings are evident through the use of structure and shredding, representing the traditional Christian symbol for peace. Suzanne Maria is defined by the image of a Stag, the symbol for rejuvenation and rebirth. The brand encaptures Suzie’s values and beliefs, which are elegantly portrayed throughout this her first collection. Who Am I? is a sophisticated and wearable introduction to the brand, outlining the future direction of Suzanne Maria. Who Am I? consists of six complete outfits with wearable garments for all occasions. Named after spiritual animals associated with Christianity, each look has its own identity and unique story to tell. . . .
