Welcome to Gillispie’s Enrichment Program, 10 weeks of after-school learning and fun Here’s the fine print:

● No refunds will be issued after the second class!

● All fees will be invoiced during the next billing cycle.

● Classes are first-come, first-served Registration will continue until each class is full

Flavors Around the World ❥ Winter Edition - A Culinary Workshop with Mrs. Knight Grades Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia) & Kindergarten, Location: Willow Room, $310

In this class, children will have the opportunity to prepare dishes from around the world while learning about the different, unique countries that each dish represents. We will taste the cuisines of Brazil, Mexico, China, and many more! Please join us as we learn many different cooking techniques, taste exciting new foods, and explore the many wonderful cultures that are represented within our community!

Roaring Dinosaurs with Stavy & Monica Grades Littles (Spruce, Maple) and Middles (Cypress, Magnolia, Rosewood), Location: Maple, $300

In this exciting, hands-on enrichment, children will explore the fantastic world of dinosaurs, from digging into fossils to experiencing a volcanic eruption! Students will be immersed in sensory experiences, art, movement, science, and more. Prepare for a roaring good time filled with exploration, creativity, and discovery- perfect for your young paleontologist! We are looking forward to a dino-mite time!

Sewing Arts Exploration with Dr Mindy Grades K-2, Location: Atelier, $300

Join this creative and fun class in sewing arts while learning a valuable, lifelong skill! Students will use a needle and thread to make stitches and begin basic embroidery We will also use sewing machines to create more extensive projects of each artist's choosing A variety of fabrics and materials are provided for inspired designs

Soccer & Games Around the World - with Miss Anna and Miss Amy Grades Middles (Magnolia, Cypress, & Rosewood) - PreK, Location: Field, $300

Come Join Miss Anna and Miss Amy at the field for soccer and games around the world We will practice and learn the fundamentals of soccer as we enjoy this amazing and fun game We will include games from other countries in our sessions using balls, bats, and nets. We will enjoy many exciting games together!

Street Hockey with Coach Whelan Grades 3-6, Location: Sport court, $280

Join us for a fun, high-energy street hockey class! Learn and improve your stickhandling, passing, shooting, defensive skills, goaltending techniques, understanding of positions, and strategic thinking while getting a great workout. All equipment is provided, and eye protection is mandatory for all students. Players will use plastic sticks and hollow plastic pucks. Safety, sportsmanship, and fun are our top priorities!

VK Heroes Scenes & Songs with Ms. Fillers Grades 1-6, Location: MPR, $250

In this empowering musical, it's the kids of villains who save the day. Students will develop acting skills, confidence, and empathy needed to step into the lives of these extraordinary characters, sing their songs, and work together as a team Showcasing the hard work and dedication of our talented young performers, the final show will take place on the last day of class, Monday, February 24, 2025

Water World with Mrs Tarantino Grades Littles/Middles/Pre-K, Location: Cypress, $300

If your child loves water, then send him/her to Water World! Last session, the weather permitted us to splish and splash out on the field But with winter ahead, we will be taking Water World indoors! Your child will be submerged in water activities such as art, science experiments, concoctions, and games used with water The children will also enjoy making a different infused water drink every week as part of their snack. Oh, the many things you can do with water! Let’s do it all in WATER WORLD!

Winter Wonders & Crafts with Ms. Young Grades K-2, Location: Room 20, $275, (maximum 14)

Join us for an exciting Winter Wonders Crafts Class, where creativity and fun come together! In this hands-on workshop, children will explore the magic of winter through a variety of festive crafts. From creating sparkly snowflakes and cheerful holiday decorations to designing cozy winter cards, each project will spark imagination and celebrate the season. Don't miss out on the chance to bring a bit of winter magic into your home!

Yoga Adventures with Mrs. Law Grades Middles (Magnolia, Cypress, Rosewood) & Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia), Location: Rosewood Room, $300

Join Mrs Law for a fun-filled yoga class, where each week your child will embark on a guided yoga adventure filled with imagination and movement After the yoga journey, they will enjoy a delicious, healthy snack to fuel their growing bodies!

Tuesdays:

Karate Kids with Maitera Karate Coach Sakura Grades 1 - 6, Location: Gym, $325

Get ready to embark on a thrilling and educational martial arts adventure that will not only enhance your physical abilities but also boost your self-confidence and discipline. This Enrichment brings an exciting opportunity for kids to learn the fundamentals of karate from MAITERA Karate. Sakura Knkumai brings a rich background as a personal martial arts instructor. She has been training in traditional karate for over 20 years and represented the USA in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics MAITERA Karate is focused on building children's focus, discipline, and confidence Each camper will be outfitted with karate gear to be fully safe in class

Chess with Mountain Lake Chess Grades K-6, Location: Room 10, $300

International Master Larry Evans and staff have been teaching chess for over 30 years in more than 60 schools throughout San Diego County Their program has produced national champions at every scholastic level Chess is a great workout for mathematical muscles Students learn to think ahead, solve problems, evaluate multiple alternatives, and anticipate consequences Chess improves spatial reasoning, visual memory, attention span, logical reasoning power, and self-confidence. The program, dubbed "The Evans Method" by the United States Chess Federation, includes instruction, formal and casual play, and team events on a giant, Harry Potter-like, chess set. Students receive prizes at the end of each class to reward participation and every student receives a trophy at the end of each session. Beginners are welcome.

Wednesdays:

Clay & Art Workshop Winter with Ms Walters Grades K-6, Location: Art Bungalow, $350 (limited to 10 students)

Think Cold! Snowpeople, snowflakes, mittens, polar bears, cocoa mugs, and more! We’ll be making useful objects as well as imaginative sculptures and artworks The students will also learn about the world of art from other cultures and periods of history Join us in the jog of creating All supplies included

Disney Days with Mrs Tarantino Grades Littles/Middles/Pre-K, Wednesdays, Location: Cypress, $300

Everyone is a Mouseketeer while you spend an afternoon reading about your favorite Disney stories, then creating art or participating in an activity in lieu of the story that day Classic stories from “Cinderella” and “Pinocchio” to newly popular stories such as “Frozen” and “Trolls” are just a sample of the many tales that we’ll focus on from the Wonderful World of Disney Be assured your child will be in a “Happy Place” on campus as their favorite Disney characters come alive through music, literature, creativity, and imagination

Gillispie Winter Social Club with Ms. Abbi & Ms. Kait Grades Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia) - Grade 1, Location: Juniper, $300

In our Winter Social club, children will join us for all the things they love most - creating, moving their bodies, and deepening friendships. Over 10 weeks, children will get creative with Arts & Crafts including clay exploration and ceramics, jewelry-making, painting, sewing, and more! We will also be going to the field and sport court to play games like dodgeball and basketball and having “snowball fights” There will be community-building games, board games, and new activities to broaden their horizons There's truly something for every child to love in Social Club

Sensory Play with Ms Law

Grades Littles (Spruce, Maple) and Middles (Cypress, Magnolia, Rosewood), Location: Rosewood, $300

In this enrichment with Mrs Law, the children will engage in a variety of sensory activities Each week they will enjoy squishing, shaping, and exploring various textures through activities like finger painting, kinetic sand, and scented playdough Through these hands-on experiences, our little learners discover the world in a multisensory way, fostering their creativity and building a foundation for lifelong learning.

Winter Wonderland Craft & Activities with Ms. Lagorio Grades K-2, Location: Room 10, $300

Join us in a crafty winter wonderland! In this class, we’ll dive into the magic of winter through students’ creativity and hands-on activities, From crafting snowflakes to building miniature igloos and winter paintings. Let's celebrate the wonders of winter together!

Yoga & Meditation with Ms. Sydney

Grades K-6, 3:30-4:30, (Location: MPR), $300

Meditation class will give students the opportunity to learn, practice, and deepen their powers of mindfulness and self-awareness! Over 10 weeks, students will learn different techniques: visualization, guided versus silent seated meditation, slowing down thoughts, staying present in their bodies, and easy breathing techniques to use when scared, upset, or overwhelmed Each session will include basic stretches to loosen the body and creative time to draw or even dance through their emotions! Ms Sydney will even incorporate live piano or guitar music during some of the guided meditations Students will love the feeling of making progress toward their inner goals!

Thursdays:

This & That with Ms Anna Grades Middles (Magnolia, Cypress, Rosewood) & Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia), Location: Magnolia, $300

Join Miss Anna for a weekly adventure! Each week, we'll dive into a new exciting topic, from cooking delicious Italian dishes to conducting fascinating experiments We'll also explore the world of arts and crafts, delve into STEAM projects, and learn some Italian language skills Come and join us for a fun-filled learning experience!

Ninja Camp! with Ms Sunny Grades Pre-K (Juniper, Sequoia, Willow) - K, Location: Spruce, $300 (9 Student Limit)

Your Ninja’s day at Ninja Camp will be brimming with exciting activities, skill development, Culinary Delights, and Ninja snacks. During the 10 weeks, we will learn how to cook like a Ninja, dress up like a Ninja (We make a Ninja T-shirt with his/her name in Japanese!), write and speak like a Ninja (we learn Japanese), paint like a Ninja, and act like a Ninja (learn beginner’s KARATE). On the last day of the 10 weeks, we will have a Ninja party and we would like you to join the party! No prior Ninja experience is required.

Spanish Through Music with Ms. Clara Grades 3-6, Location: Room 12, $300

Dive into the rhythms and melodies of the Spanish-speaking world while learning a new language. In this enrichment, we will dive into vocabulary building, grammar in context, and cultural insights into the Spanish language through music. Discover the joy of singing and develop your voice in our time together. This class is perfect for anyone wanting to build vocal skills, gain confidence, learn vocal techniques, and improve their breathing techniques

Sports & Games with Ms Hurley Grades K-5, Location: Field, $240

This FUN class will introduce students to popular sports and games loved by kids of all ages at Gillispie, giving them the confidence they need to join in on the action at recess From kick-bat and dodgeball to capture the flag, sharks and minnows, soccer, and more, we'll cover it all! Emphasis is placed on teamwork and sportsmanship, providing a great opportunity for everyone to play, learn, and grow together The best way to learn how to play a game is to PLAY IT!

Whimsical Wonders with Ms. Herrera Grades Littles (Spruce, Maple) & Middles (Magnolia, Cypress, Rosewood), Location: Rosewood, $300 (10 Student Limit)

Ready for some bubbling potions and fizzy reactions? In this whimsical science class learning will seamlessly intertwine with laughter and play to aid in fostering a love for science and curiosity. Through fun and hands-on experiments like dancing raisins, salt painting, or shaving cream play dough, the children will test out various reactions and get a deeper understanding of why certain phenomena occur in our world. Join us for some fun!

Friday:

Fun on the Field with Ms Hurley Grades K-5, Location: Field, $240

This FUN class will introduce students to popular sports and games loved by kids of all ages at Gillispie, giving them the confidence they need to join in on the action at recess. From kick-bat and dodgeball to capture the flag, sharks and minnows, soccer, and more, we'll cover it all! Mermaid & Pirate Stories Crafts with Ms. Sunny Grades Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia) - Grade 1, Location: Spruce, $270 (8 Student Limit)

Embark on a journey through captivating stories, craft, and design mesmerizing mermaid and pirate accessories. Dive into the magic of our treasure box-making sessions and relish exciting snacks. The grand finale awaits with a spectacular mermaid and pirate party, featuring thrilling treasure hunts and an ocean tea party. Guess what? You (all parents and guardians) are cordially invited to join in the final fun party! Be one of the lucky 8 friends to experience this unforgettable adventure!

Spanish with Ms Herrera

Grades Middles (Magnolia, Cypress, Rosewood) & Pre-K (Juniper, Willow, Sequoia), Location: Rosewood, $300 Bienvenidos a la classes de español! Mrs Veronica Herrera is a native Spanish speaker and will be teaching a lively Spanish class that introduces young learners to basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases through interactive activities, songs, games, and storytelling

Gillispie School Tuesday Chess Classes

All K-6 Students Welcome: Beginners to Advanced

International Master Larry Evans and his staff have been teaching chess for over 30 years in more than 60 elementary schools throughout San Diego County. The program (once featured on The Tonight Show) has produced national champions at every scholastic level.

Children have come from all over the United States to study at their summer camps in Lake Arrowhead & the YMCA.

The program, dubbed “The Evans Method” by the United States Chess Federation, includes instruction, formal and casual play, and team events. Students receive prizes to reward participation, and everybody receives a trophy at the end of each session.
