The Refuge was set up 42 years ago and is one of 300 places of safety in the country providing accommodation and support for survivors of domestic abuse. Siân is to be ordained Deacon by Bishop Nick Baines on Saturday 29th June at 3pm in Wakefield Cathedral. Siân has 20 tickets for parishioners from our Benefice. If you would like to be able to support Siân at this special service, please add your name to the list at the back of church. Siân’s final service with us at St Mary’s will be on Sunday 19 th May. If anyone would like to make a contribution towards a gift for her, please place it in a sealed envelope and give it to one of the Churchwardens or Claire Murray. Many thanks. The Wednesday night Bible Study group will start back on Wednesday 8th May at 7.30pm at 2 Hurgill Road when we look at the Psalms and Proverbs before we then go on to explore another book of the Bible. We welcome our Mothers' Union members to the meeting, and any others who care to join us. Saturday 18th May at 10.00am. Exploring Faith will be meeting at the Rokeby Inn on the A66 (DL11 7QW). The Revd. Canon James Francis, will be speaking on ‘Looking at Nature through Scripture’. Admission to include refreshments £5. Come for the whole 13 mile stroll, or join us at any of the churches for a shorter section. We hope many of you will drive yourselves between the churches if not doing the whole walk, to enjoy their hospitality and historical churches. Approximate timings: Marske 10.45am, Downhome 12.15pm, Hudswell churchyard (then pub) at 3.00pm, Holy Trinity 5.15pm, and St Mary's rectory garden 5.30pm If any drivers have spare seats, please let William know in case we need to help out unexpected tired walkers. This will be followed from 5.30pm by a Barbecue on the Rectory lawn as a farewell to Siân. Tickets £3 each for a burger and a bun, available
