The thanksgiving service for the life of John Dickinson will take place at St Mary's Church on Tuesday 10th December at 2pm, followed by a reception at the King's Head. Everyone is warmly invited to both. People should not feel the need to wear black.

Boiler appeal Two of our three boilers are out of action. They need repairing and the heating system needs to be modernised if the church is to be comfortably warm. We cannot have people turned away by the cold. The estimated cost of boiler repair and refurbishment is £4000. Please help if you can. Recycle your used stamps for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Please put your used stamps in the box on the table at the back of church. Please leave approximately one centimetre of envelope or packaging around each stamp. Many thanks. Christian Aid Christmas Appeal. As we have done in past years, if you wish to send greetings to your friends at St Mary’s you can display one card on the cupboard door at the back of church, instead of sending several, and give a donation to Christian Aid. Saturday 14th December Men’s Breakfast Club at St Cuthbert’s Church Colburn between 8.30am – 10.00am. Good food, friendly banter, discussing real life issues. All Welcome. Saturday 14th December at 6.30pm: The Station Singers present ‘A Countryside Christmas’ at St Mary’s Church. Tickets £9 in advance or £11 on the door. Children free but must have a ticket. Tickets available from Choir Members, Castle Hill Bookshop, The Wives Kitchen and St Mary’s Church. Tuesday 17th December at 7.00pm The Army Band present a Christmas Concert in aid of Church funds. All are Welcome. Wednesday 18th December at 2.00pm in The Town Hall. Woman’s Fellowship Christmas Lessons and Carols. All are welcome to join us as we celebrate this wonderful time of year. The Church Christmas Coffee Morning takes place on Saturday 21st December in the Town Hall, 8am-12noon. We will be having a Cake and Savoury stall, a Jams Jellies and Chutney stall, a Tombola and Raffle.
