TOAST – Time On A Sunday Together Following on from the success of our new baby and toddler group, Little Rainbows, on the second Sunday of the month we will be having TOAST – Time on a Sunday together – a group for children aged 3 upwards. Children will be having fun learning and enjoying bible stories. We will congregate at the back of church at the end of the first hymn and go to the Parish Office for the first part of the service, coming back together in church in time for Communion. John Dobson, Dean of Ripon Cathedral will be speaking on ‘Following the King who rides on a Donkey’. Admission to include refreshments £5. Tickets are £12 from richchoral.org.uk, Castle Hill Books or via Choir members. Sunday 14th April, Palm Sunday. The 10am service will feature in place of the sermon a dramatic reading of Luke’s account of Jesus’ Passion. There will also be a Choral Evensong at 6.30pm. Friday 19th April, Good Friday. There will be an ecumenical Walk of Witness beginning at the Catholic Church at 10am and concluding with a short service in the Market Place – followed by hot cross buns at the Methodist Church. Between 12noon and 3pm there will be a Three Hours Service at St Mary’s, led by Bishop John, with a hymn every half-hour – please feel free to come or go during any of the hymns. There will also be a short All Age Service 4pm.
Saturday 20th April, Easter Eve. Our first service of Easter will be the Easter Liturgy ay 8pm – featuring the wonderful Service of Light. Sunday 28th April at 11.00am - Easter Bunny fun run, walk or toddle. In conjunction with Liberty Club Richmond, Swaledale Runners, St Mary's Church and supported by Richmond Town Council. Fun Run: 2.5 mile circular trail along the old railway track and past the picturesque Easby Abbey, to finish at St Mary's Church Lombards Wynd. Little ones toddle to the railway bridge for a game of Pooh Sticks and return to St Mary's for refreshments. All abilities welcome to take part and have fun! Finish at St Mary's Church to collect medal and have a soft drink or cup of tea/coffee. £1.00 entry fee payable when number is collected on the day. Please register at Liberty Health Club as places are limited. (Telephone 01748 821000) Saturday 18th May. Benefice Stroll/Drive/Cycle. Starting from St Mary’s Church at 8.00am, finishing at 5.30pm. Come for a 13 mile stroll or join us at any of the churches for a shorter section. The stroll will visit all 5 churches in the benefice, were there will be a tour and refreshments will be available.
