A Confirmation Service has been arranged for Sunday 23rd November. Preparation classes will commence this month. Anyone who would like more details please contact the Rector.

School Chaplaincy Coordinator. Part time post, 22 hours flexible. St Francis Xavier joint RC and C of E Secondary School are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational person to develop chaplaincy within the school. Are you interested or curious about Reader Ministry, or wanting to study theology?

You are invited to come along to St Mary’s Church on Monday, 9th June 2014.

During this session you will be able to explore Reader Ministry, the expectations and preparation, and consider offering yourself for training and licensing, or you might just like to hear of the theology courses on offer through the diocese. Attending will not commit you in any way unless you want to proceed further with either study or Reader Ministry.

Monday 2nd June 7.00pm Deanery Synod at Colburn Village Hall with Bishop James. All welcome.

Saturday 7th June 10.00am - 12.00noon Baptism Preparation in Greyfriars Community Room. Coffee/tea available from 9.45. This is for anyone who is considering baptism for themselves, or a member of the family.

Godparents are also encouraged to attend. Please see Rev John for more details.

Sunday 8th June 4.00pm Inauguration and Confirmation of Election of the Diocesan Bishop, Nick Baines at York Minster.

Friday 13th June The Friends of St Mary’s are holding a Social/Fundraising BBQ in aid of the Disability Access Toilet Fund. Weather permitting it will be in the rectory garden.

Tickets, £5 adults and £3 for children, are available from Margaret Emmerson, Claire Murray, Liz Chambers or any committee member. Donations of salads and puddings will be very welcome. There is a list on the cupboard at the back of church. Squash will be provided but please bring any other drinks you require and a glass to put it in. If you would prefer a vegetarian option could you please advise us in advance. Many thanks.
