The collection today is for Christians Against Poverty. They work in partnership with local churches to provide debt counselling and then negotiate with creditors to help desperate people manage. A very appropriate charity to support when we’re surrounded by all the expense and commercial side of Christmas.
After the Cards and Visitors Bereavement is a very difficult time for the spouse/partner left behind. Starting again on your own is even more difficult. If you feel you would like to, please join Carrie and Anne for coffee and a chat at Greyfriars on Tuesday 5th January at 10.30am. Contact Carrie on 850103 for further information.
Sadly The Station Singers concert had to be postponed last Saturday due to the heavy snowfall. This has now been rescheduled for Saturday the 9th January 2016 and is still with the kind support and to benefit St Mary's Bell Appeal and Darlington Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. Tickets are £8 (£10 on the door) and doors will open at 7pm to start at 7.30pm. Please come along and listen to some belated Seasonal Music and enjoy the welcome refreshments. Tickets are available from Christine Stedman (01748 824664)
Café Church at St Mary's next meets on Sunday 17th January at 4pm to enjoy teas, coffees and home baking around café style tables. We are delighted to be welcoming Rev David Day to join us for this relaxed service which closes with compline. He has chosen to talk about "The body...temple or compost heap?!" Amongst many roles he was principal of St John’s College in Durham and both Janet Henderson and Wendy Pritchard both agreed at the last café church that they very much enjoy listening to him speak and discuss things, and that it should be an excellent afternoon and way to spend a chilly January afternoon! If you would like further information or would like to bake or help with teas and coffees on the day please speak to Gillian or Wendy
