We commend unto God’s merciful keeping those who have recently died including Mavis Burton. We pray that God will bring comfort to all who mourn her loss. Sophie Overin, current Head Chorister and her brother Dan (former chorister) will be competing against each other in this event on 7 th December, in Manchester. The event is being televised and will be shown on Friday 12th December at 7.30pm on BBC4. Sophie sings with the Northern Spirit Singers and Dan with the Oxford Gargoyles. Donate to Christian Aid instead of sending Christmas Cards: As in previous years if you wish to write a card and display it at the back of church you may donate to Christian Aid in lieu between of extra cards and postage. This year the government will match any donations given between 7th November and 6th February so your money will be doubled!! Donations can be given to Anne Simpson, Graham Merlane or Judith Barber. John Blenkiron’s family have placed a Remembrance Tree in the grounds of their premises on Queens Road to enable the whole community to remember family and friends at Christmas time. Weather proof cards are available from the office, or out of hours from an outside container, and may be placed individually or left at the office to be put on the tree in memory of a loved one. £205.49 was raised at the Christingle Service in aid of the Children’s Society. Many thanks to all The pop up gallery is open now at 10B Frenchgate, 11am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday and 1pm-4pm Sunday. It is being staffed by volunteers and is only open until Christmas. A share of all the funds raised will go towards the Accessible Toilet Fund. DATES FOR THE DIARY Sunday 7th December Free to Be, a contemplative worship event giving space to think, pray, awaken the senses and be with God in the candlelit, inspiring space of St Mary’s after dark. Come any time from 7.00pm, Eucharist 7.45pm, ends 8.30pm. Friday 12th December Mother’s Union Deanery Advent Service 11.30am St. Anne’s Catterick. The service will be followed by soup. Please contact Margaret Clayson if you need a lift. The MU will continue to collect toiletries, brushes, combs etc for the Women’s Refuge during Advent. Please leave in the blue box.


Saturday 13th December Big Christmas Clean 9.30am– 12.00 approx. Please come and lend a hand for the working party to clean up for the Christmas season in church. Usual refreshments available. Please bring own dusters. Saturday 13th December 2014 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Richmond. Home-Start Richmondshire and The Beacon Catterick Garrison present Christmas Concert by Candlelight by the Station Singers. Tickets £8 or £10 on the door, children free but ticket required and refreshments are included. If you would like to make a donation of tinned or packet food to The Beacon please bring to the concert. Tickets available from Christine Stedman 824664, Home-Start 850079. Tuesday 16th December 2.00pm. Holy Trinity Church, Mothers’ Union Eucharist. This will be followed by tea/coffee and mince pies in the King’s Head. All are welcome.
