Please stay for refreshments after the service. This morning’s service is for everyone and if needed there is a children’s area at the back of church. Lord’s Prayer and Communion Cubes for children are available for anyone to use during the service. Please just ask if you would like to borrow one. There is an induction loop system in the church for those who would find it useful.

Today at 6.30pm Free to Be at St Mary’s Church. A contemplative worship event which gives space to think, pray, awaken the senses and simply be with God, followed by a service of Compline.

Your PCC needs you! At our Annual Meeting on Sunday 7th April we will be electing five new PCC members: people to represent our congregation in the governance of our church. Nominations will be invited in advance to fill three vacancies for a term of three years and two for a term of two years. Our PCC meets six times a year (and for an Away Day). If you would like to know more about becoming a member of our PCC then please contact Martin (821241). DATES FOR THE DIARY Wednesday 20th March at 2pm in the Town Hall. Women’s Fellowship with speaker Helenor Gwatkin, a Police Constable Special Officer in the neighbourhood policing team. All are welcome. Thursday 21st March from 9.00am. Coffee morning at the Town Hall, in aid of St Mary’s church. Tombola, Raffle, Cakes, Books and Jigsaws. Please support this fundraising event in any way you can. Exploring Faith will be held at the Rokeby Inn on the A66, when The Canon Trevor Pitt will be speaking on ‘What is the point of Religion in a Secular Age?’ £5 to include refreshments. Anyone requiring a lift please see Margaret Clayson or Susan Scrafton. Friday 29th March at 6.30pm. An Illustrated talk by Ian Short followed by a Pie and Peas Supper. We shall be able to see Ian’s marvellous photographs on the subject, A Photographer’s Year: Swaledale and the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The talk will be held in the Swaledale Outdoor Centre in New Road. Tickets available from Judith Clarke or from Castle Hill Bookshop price £10. An entertaining evening in support Marrick Priory Outdoor Education Centre. Saturday 30th March at 7.00pm. Lennox Lodge is hosting The Band of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in a Charity Concert at St Mary’s Church playing Military and Jazz music. Saturday 6th April at 6.30pm with doors open from 6pm. The Station Singers, supporting St Mary’s Church and local branches of Riding for the Disabled, present “A Merry Ringtime with Songs for Springtime”. Tickets £8 (£10 on the door) children free (but ticket required). Tickets from Christine Stedman 01748 824664. Please do come and bring friends as well. It will be an evening of joy, friendship and music and will bring much-needed funds to St Mary's. The ticket price includes home-made cakes, pastries and wine/soft drinks. Definitely one not to be missed! Sunday 14th April, Palm Sunday. The 10am service will feature in place of the sermon a dramatic reading of Luke’s account of Jesus’ Passion. There will also be a Choral Evensong at 6.30pm. Friday 19th April, Good Friday. There will be an ecumenical Walk of Witness beginning at the Catholic Church at 10am and concluding with a short service in the Market Place – followed by hot cross buns at the Methodist Church. Between 12noon and 3pm there will be a Three Hours Service at St Mary’s, led by Bishop John, with a hymn every half-hour – please feel free to come or go during any of the hymns.
